Great Video. I have always been a big fan of green mono especially the slightly darker one. I used to use one called Abulon when I did a lot of bass fishing from the shore, I have had a few double figure fish on it and they are very wary in shallow water. I swear its harder for the fish to see or its just more natural underwater. On the contrast I tried bright orange line once and I struggled to catch anything :)

Just discovered you channel which I'm blown away with. To be honest I was looking for information on ultralight fishing with flies thank you a treasure trove of information I am confused from what I have seen most people don't go above 10 grams. Can you tell me why the heavier end tackle can be used Thanks I really enjoy the active fishing videos and you obvious passion
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing Месяц назад
Hi Niall, thanks for your comments buddy only too happy to help. The reason I stick to around 20gram is for a bit of distance and it helps to punch into the wind. The heavier/larger bombard helps to stay below the surface although this can also also come to the surface if you work it to hard or fast and in a strong flowing tide. If there is a bit of a wave on the water I don’t really mind if the bombarda breaks the surface as this can make the fish curious and will often investigate. Check out my other bombarda/sea trout videos as I give different tips and tricks in most of them. Thanks again for watching and tight lines🎣👍

just sitting watching Douglas I myself was away for a while this morning with the bombetta, nothing yet but what strikes me is that the trout of the battle that caught often only starts fighting when the bombarda is already under the rod but again nicely done and nice catch if you catch it so well is good for self-confidence I still have to grab my first one for this season but in any case fun to do ps I've been watching Shakespeare's omni but isn't that a very soft rod Douglas I fish myself now with a specter finesse spin of 3.15 but I think that's too muchclose to this type you can not fish a very long leader my leader is 2.00cm and that the fly tried 2 this morning the schrimp and the sandeel but greetings happy Easter and see you next and if you go tight line, s

Hi Douglas from Larne Co Antrim. An amazing session on the bombarda you had ! I myself use it quite often but not as professional as your good self. Question for you m8 when do the sea Bass start showing on your part of the coast? Here it’s usually September October and I’ve had very good success using shrimp pattergrissen for them in the Irish Sea. Just curious as I’ve a little theory in my head about migration routes. Keep up the fantastic videos looking forward to the next one buddy. Tight lines - Danny.

Thanks for commenting buddy, the bombarda is an awesome bit of kit. For the bass it all depends on the late spring early summer weather but normally late July is the norm but can hang around right up to December mate, although not in great numbers late on in the year.

Another great and informative video. According to the closed captions, you said you were using a 'timber' bombarda. Are you using a sinking or floating bombarda? Based on your videos and others, I've started using bombardas in the Adirondacks. I'd rather fly fish but I have to admit I can cover ten times as much water with a fly on a bombarda set up as I can with a fly rod. And with the right bombarda set up I can present any fly the same as a fly rod in still water. Sometimes I use the bombarda to test and efficiently cover new water before I employ the fly rod.

Hello friend, I have only used the sinking bombarda in my videos. Your tactics sound spot on, it is a great method to cover more water. Thanks for watching and your continued support to the channel👍

I really enjoy your videos and as a result have tried the Bombarda method around my local Solent beaches in Dorset. I’ve been using a prawn imitation and have had a couple of small bass and a scad but I’m sure bigger bass can be taken on the method. I fancy a trip up to Scotland as I have fished before on Skye for wild brownies and was wondering what if any restrictions there are on the Clyde estuary for sea trout fishing. Obviously I would need a game licence but apart from that are the beaches similar to the ones you fish restricted in any way to visitors? Any advice before making the trip would be much appreciated.

Fantastic 👍 I understand the bombarder is superior but would a small drilled bullet have a chance of a fish or would it be too erratic on drop and retrieve?
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing Год назад
It will sink a lot faster but that’s not the issue with a lead it’s the leader wrapping around the main line during the cast.

That makes sense m8, I need a longer rod for the bombard myself, using a 9ft savage gear mpp rod at the moment but it's quite stiff. I'm going to try that with a feeder rod, more play, it totally makes sense. Cheers for the reply bud.

@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing Год назад
@@jamescrawford3014 hi James, the feeder rod handles the bombarda fine. Many anglers think the tips are too sensitive to get a good hook set but I’ve had no issues so far. 9 feet is ok but I prefer a using a long leader/hook length between the fly and the bombarda.
