Just washed the car the night before, so of course, it rained. Even in the wet, I still love driving this Olds 98. It's hard to believe almost everything on the car works at 48 years old. I hope I'm still doing as well at 48!
I can't go 15 mins being around this car and a random person will shout out to compliment it. Kids think it's a muscle car. Millennials think it's vintage. GenXers think it's pimp gangsta, and Boomers remember it as Dad's car when they were wee little. This Olds makes everybody smile!

Very nice car, it sounds very healthy. Back in the early to mid-80's I owned a 1972 Oldsmobile 98 (that was back in England!) - a splendid car.

Thank you! The car has changed hands since this video was taken. The new owner is near Miami, FL. PS - bet it was fun to drive and park that '72 in those little UK towns!

Nice car. I think you need new wiper blades. I owned a 1956 Olds 98 4 dr. htd. and it was a great car with a good ride and plenty of power.

nothing like the two door clunk of a door closing on a body by Fisher.

Thanks! The seat belt buckle clicks were pretty satisfying, too.

It is good to be the owner of a 1970 Olds. 98. I have a 2 door Convertable! I am also looking for parts! I am in need of the 2 trim pieces that are between the door and wheel well and the door and a Blue steering wheel. I also need the AC brackets and the AC compressor. I would be grateful if you had any of these parts and are willing to let go of them. 1 last thing. If you could send me a picture of the steering wheel, that would be awesome!

Why no 3 spoke steering wheel like the Buick and Caddy?

Ya I remember 1970 vehicles my older brother had a '70 Chevelle with the seat belts like this car , i remember him saying that they're annoying and removed both of them above the window and put lap belts only in front .

In1973 I got my grandfather a 70 98 coupe when I turned 16. Loved that car. I was probably the only 16 year old that wore the seat belts- even the shoulder belt- back then. They really enhanced the way the car drove and handled when planted in the seat especially in curves. I 1978 was in a head on collision with a drunk driver in a 77 Fleetwood. He had on the three point belt, but the shoulder belt was under his arm pit, basically just a lap belt. I walked away with only bruises from my lap and shoulder belts. The other driver creamed the steering wheel with major head and face trauma. His unbelted passenger went through the windshield. When the paramedics got there, they figured the Olds driver would be the most seriously injured person. All I can say is that the lap and "aggravating " shoulder belt probably saved my life. The funny thing is that all my friends thought I was a nutcase for buckling up every time I drove that car. Go figure.

The most any of my friends would do is begrudgingly wear the lap belt. They felt confined, couldn't reach the lighter or radio or thought they looked stupid with the shoulder belt on. LOL

I'm curious, did your brother even wear the lap belt after removing the shoulder belts?

Sweet ride! No delay wipers?

Not in 1970! Only Ford was offering it at the time. GM didn't add the option until 1974.
