This video is under-rated and underseen this information is so important to everyone. I know most people don't breathe correctly when going up the stairs. I live on the third floor. And no matter how many times I go up the stairs I never get used to it because I'm breathing so wrong. Thank you for giving me this tool. This information is very valuable.
Thanks for this, I didn't realize that I was holding my breath when walking up stairs, I did what you said and I had no problem going up 5 flights of stairs. Thanks :-)
Amazing Just unbelievable. I saw this video weeks ago but didn’t have the chance to try the exercise. Today I had no choice and found myself having to go up the stairs to the third floor of a building. And so I did exactly what you teach. To my surprise and amazement and for the first time in decades I didn’t run out of breath!!! I even felt energized and by the way I’m 72 years old and highly, highly recommend for anyone to try it ASAP. IM GRATEFUL TO YOU BECAUSE YOUR TEACHINGS ARE GOING TO LAST ME A LIFETIME. Gracias 🙏🏻
I have COPD and there is often real worry about climbing stairs. But it's something I have to do several times a day. Often I have to stop at the landing, especially when carrying something. There would be a bit of panic each and every time when I'd suffer shortness of breath. I've just tried this technique and it does help. Thank you.
Thanks for this. I will try this next time I climb the stairs. I have a lot of trouble on stairs because of bronchiectasis and chronic asthma. I hope this works for me. I also think that anyone who has this problem should be exercising their leg muscles as weak leg muscles and glutes can also make it harder to go up stairs.
We were so frustrated that we cannot find a ranch house that we can afford, I am having a hard time climbing our stairs so we thought a ranch style house will be the best. I have one functioning lung so I am using portable oxygen now. Yesterday I saw this video and I did it. Awesome, it works!!! Now we don’t need to move, we can stay in our house that we love so much. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks! I tried it today climbing 15 floors 3x, I've got to say it's a lot of breathing, because I'm climbing fast, so I switched to two step at a time, worked better! I wasn't as winded when I got to the 15th floor.
Thank you for this, I breathe with my mouth open when I lose my breath climbing a flight of stairs I'll try to blow instead of huffing and puffing when climbing the stairs
Thousand thanks for such a beautiful advise.we did not realize sometimes good advise can be very helpful bcos of old age.older age can be a problem when climbing higher up.breathing in n out actually very good exercise.thanks a lot.
Thanks to your teachings, I was able to go up 325 plus steps without a problem. I say 325 because I lost track as I was halfway to the top. Keep in mind that this was: Denver, Colorado the mile high state. Besides I’m 72 years young Gracias I’m grateful to your teachings.
my legs always get sore feels like there going tight alsomething it hurts same feeling as lifting weights alot of biecp curls and you feel the burn and when it starts to.hurt i get really puffed out and tired could they hurt due to lack of oxygen all is it just lack of endurance and stamina ive running/walking up stairs for exerise i just dont understand how some people can run up and down all day like its nothing what am i doing wrong
Hopefully you have your answer(s) being that your comment was 4 years ago. I suspect you need(ed) to learn Nasal Breathing. Search Patrick Mckeown. His talks are freely available online. Patrick specifically addresses the muscle fatigue that you are experiencing and how to resolve it (evidence based). Best of luck!
The explanation is right but the demonstration seems a bit off - exhale when exerting to elevate, inhale when landing the other foot on the next step. Thanks for the video.
I feel short of breath, smoked a pack a day for 17 years and have been quit for one year. When at the gym climbing the stair-master, I use to be able to do 2000 steps in 30 min, now only able to do 1000 steps in 30min with a heart rate of 155 and oxymeter reading never going above 96% when before it use to easily be at 98% ☹
Eating outside 1 sweet then breathless increases more it starts happening after a chest pain near the heart . It happened 2 times and it is there for almost 24 hours. After eating 1 sweet I relaxed for 2 hours then I started climbing stairs
I have villa with three stairs and my bedroom right on top. When I climb 1 stair I am ok. With second star I am slightly short of breath and with 3rd stair I am very short of breath and I do have pain in my legs. What can be the cause Reply me soon Thanks Rims1
@Rupali Malhotra Your Symptoms sound to me Like Vascular Blockage in Groin or Legs, I would see a Vascular Dr. & Hopefully they will order a CT Run off Scan , it will Show if you have a Blockage , I am not a Dr. But I've had your Symptoms & there was a Blockage in Both legs & Groin arch area.👍
I am having shortness of breath n allergy in few years.. I want lose abdominal fat n thigh fat what exercises I can do to lose weight as I have breathing problems my age 36
Seems like a lot of breaths doing one every step. Maybe one every 3 stairs is plenty. Although this channel is called managing shortness of breath you might need more.
I dont think it should be inhaling from the nose and exhaling from the mouth. Probably just a demonstration so that you can envision it. But if you prefer it that way then you do you.
only problem is, i inhale..............wait a few minutes............exhale, take a coffee break............inhale., take a nap..........exhale, do my nails............inhale, read the paper...........etc, etc, etc
