Not sure why there's so many negative reviews, it works really well (latest version 18.01.02). Make sure you also select the two additional options with the filter (you may need to pull the window up to see them), which are 'Zoom' and 'Smoothing'. These have a massive impact on the stabilisation. Try 5% Zoom and 30 on Smoothing (Shakiness & Accuracy on default of 4), digital stabilisation always requires cropping your video to create smooth movement. Of course it will make previewing the video afterwards very resource intensive (the same happens with Adobe Premiere), as every frame is referenced against the stabilisation file, but when you export your movie it will be fine.
Nice to learn that the stabilization filter is in there after using the software for the last 10 months. After some trial and error it works really well.
I am using the last version for Win7 because this workstation has a cage power amp and HPM-100 floor standing speakers for full fidelity. The tutorial above is different than my Win7 version, but it works the same. My Rode Go-II crapped out and failed in the middle of a funeral service, so I had to shift to the in-camera audio. This resulted in two problems: insufficient audio levels and the blower of an air conditioner near the camera position. The Filters demonstrated above let me cut the blower rumble and increase the audio levels significantly. This was my very first use of ShotCut, and I am 110% delighted. Another plus: it is a portable app that doesn't play games with adding junk to the registry and DLL chain. I have it set up in C:\Program Files\Portable\Shotcut with a shortcut to the EXE on the desktop. I'm an old school developer, and find much favor with portable application code.
This video is worthless with the current version of shotcut. Why is this video touted around on your website if you've changed the entire filter menu so substantially? I don't even see half of the options you're talking about and I have no "analyze" button.
Why do you make a tutorial about normalizing and don't use it on your own video? The sound is terribly bad and the opposite of normalized. - And unfortunately, it is bad in any of the official videos. This is really not good advertising for a smart programme like Shotcut.

That heavy drop of frame rate, is how my shotcut looks all the time, I'm totally unable to play back any video smoothly! Anyone with the same problem? Any way to fix it? (Besides buying a new laptop??) One more thing: Is it correct the only way of transition possible in shotcut, is a simple xfade? No blur out, zoom out or any other type of transitions??
Hi, im working on my project using this then suddenly all my tracks audio disabled? when i played the video on my playlist, it works? can u pls help? Thank you!
Just started using Shotcut. It takes my mac 10 mins to analyze 20 sec clip for stabilization. After i's done, the video is choppy as all hell. Thoughts?

@@ShotcutApp Ive set Display Mode to Automatic instead of Direct X and it is now visible. However; what exactly does Automatic do? There isn't any other setting to set use GPU is there? I don't ever see GPU usage go up when Direct X is set?
Hi, have a question, i record motivational movies on shotcut, i use the main track with recording of me playing and singing, then insert a new track and add whole bunch of videos, the problem is when you export it and the file is ready, the screen size always changing and jumping, each video that i would put on my main track would have a different screen size. The example is here. What do i do for my final project to come out all the same screen size and picture size? thank you so much!!! facebook.com/ilya.zaltsman/videos/vb.1189112764/10215088787711626/?type=2&video_source=user_video_tab
free up some space on your computer and close all tabs when using shotcut. It is a editing software with many bugs so you want to let your computer work on its max capacity
Yes, not super easy, but also not too hard:1. Use the Stabilize filter to make a .stab file for a shaky video that is at least as long as the video you want to make unstable. 2. Load the target video you want to make unstable. 3. Add the Stabilize filter to it and Analyze to make another .stab file. 4. Save the project. 5. Load the .mlt XML file in a text editor (anything except notepad.exe) and search for the .stab file name and replace it with the first, shaky .stab file name. 6. Save the .mlt file and open it in Shotcut.
