In Australia (literally the opposite end of the earth from the U.K) through Optus you can stream every Premier league AND La Liga game with the same service for the equivalent of 13 pounds a month or 3.5 pounds a month if you have the internet provider half the country has. Not only that the deal is actually a way worse deal than they had before, it used to be more like 8 pounds a month/2 pounds a month AND they had Champions league and Europa league

That's because the license for Australian companies to stream premier league is way cheaper than it is in England, just because they don't have the audience. If you'd wanted the same prices for streaming in England, you'd have to give up the Premier leagues monopoly on the transfer market, since the billions from sky is what makes a club like Nottingham able to spend 9 figures before they even made their first league game
@itwoznotme
@itwoznotme 4 месяца назад
@@wraynzz3086 WRONG. you can still share the money behind the scenes but you allow the clubs to sell their own rights , as long as they share x amount with the rest of the league (to keep it competitive) and they rest of the pyramid (to be fair with them). sky do NOTHING for the game and the money would be higher without them taking their massive cut. would you buy sky sports for the rest of the shit they show? nah!

It would not be as cheep as that not a chance. £15 for your own clubs games at the cheapest & £25 for every game that is not on Sky or TNT plus you would get interviews , classic games for the price. That is more likely in my experience of how it works else whare is Sports. For Rangers T.V it's £24. For NFL game Pass for the season it's £150 but live Sky games are blackest on a Sunday night. Rally T.V is £15 a month gets you everything. N.B.A League Pass is £25 a month for all games including games live on TNT Sports in The U.K. N.H.L T.V was £25 before Viaplay sucurred a 10 year deal for all coverage in U.K. Watch N.R.L & Watch A.F.L Ausse Rules was £25 but post pandemic it's now £45. So a Prem flix service might be good short term but long term it could be just if not more expensive.

Having lived in Denmark and the US the difference in pricing is crazy. US there’s a $6 service (Peacock) where you get all the games except the big ones that they’ll have on TV. In Denmark, you have to buy a package that’s worth around £70 a month but you get other sports, but that’s too expensive for me. Premier League would have such high potential for revenue especially into new markets. Also for access to clips worldwide, the amount of times a highlight won’t be seen as it’s unavailable on twitter, if the prem is the only provider then that would never be the case, and you get more eyes on the sport and the league

The 3pm blackout is completely outdated and unnecessary these days. The PL should start a streaming service, you pay £10-£20 a month and can access all games. There's no reason why people in our own country should be kept from watching their own matches when they're not able to be at the ground. Every game is televised somewhere, why should the Aussies and Americans be able to watch our games when we can't? Its a disgrace and needs changed ASAP Not only this pretty much every other sport has a version of this. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL etc they all have their own online streaming services, the Americans are so ahead of us in regard to this and we need to catch up

What a fantastic documentary. Great insights with stats, slick presentation and excellent analysis. Agree with your points. The crime here is the EPL failing to understand their own business model. I don’t think twice about paying £10 to Spotify. Or using Steam to purchase games. The EPL got complacent and fell behind the curve. Illegal streaming will force the EPL to offer better value to punters. In the process increasing their audience reach and revenue.

It's not that it would be more convenient, you'd have fan commentary, control of camera angles, access to player data like sprints etc... they could make it so insanely immersive it would be disgusting. Live polls. They could even partner with bookies to have the betting services integrated into the viewing platform without leaving the page which would be worth INSANE money. The only thing stopping this from already happening is back pocket payoffs.

F1 TV is a really interesting example of how this could be handled (for non-UK viewers or those with vpn). That platform also had to deal with a lot of problems in the beginning, but currently it is by far the best option out there if you’re only interested in F1 (at least in the dutch market).

F1 is an international sport, while the premier league has their major audience in England. It will also always be cheaper to stream their games in other countries, since the premier league doesn't have arguments in their negotiations to sell their license to a German company for billions as well. The germans just don't care about the premier league so less people are going to watch it, the company wouldn't make any profit. If you'd wanted the same prices for streaming in England, you'd have to give up the Premier leagues monopoly on the transfer market, since the billions from sky is what makes a club like Nottingham able to spend 9 figures before they even made their first league game

Its a great service, 3 min highlights 24 min highlights or full replays, goal rush for live games. Since it's come out football has become a lot more accessible and its probably the most talked about sport here now. I went to indonesia and their package is even better as it includes all the cup games too for around the same price. Its a shame you brits have to suffer when the league is being played in your own backyard

This is part of the issue but the ridiculous thing is the saturday afternoon blackout. I will suck it up and pay for a sky pass or whatever for my team if I can’t make a game but the fact you can’t legally watch about half prem games anywhere, even if u pay is stupid. When you try to be legit, buy sky sports, Amazon, etc and still don’t get the game you want; plus 3pm game blackout in our own country, what do these idiots think everyone is going to do. An online stream gives you want you want. I suppose the PL haven’t heard of supply and demand. Just because you don’t supply it properly doesn’t mean it won’t be demanded and doesn’t mean someone else won’t supply it.
@ojmbvids

Exclusive rights to a game per territory is a huge issue, and the same could still happen if the PL did their own broadcasts. If Sky/TNT/Whoever can get exclusive rights to a game, it essentially means fans have to buy that subscription (or break the law). It's anti-competitive and means individual broadcasters have little incentive to bring down subscription prices to a more reasonable level, because they know the fans have no choice (or break the law). If rights are sold to two broadcasters per game, those broadcasters are incentivized to created competitively priced subscription packages or the customers will go elsewhere.

The only example anyone can truly give of someone winning the war on illegal downloads/streaming is music and that's because a good value option became available. People are willing to pay but they're not willing to be ripped off. I would say though that you've probably not got it quite right with your £10 a month suggestion... It'll be more like £10 a match. That's what the Championship costs (if you mess about with VPNs etc because of course like with everything, it's not available in the UK because Sky won't allow it).

Couldn’t agree more with this video I’m just surprised that they haven’t done this 4/5 years ago as anyone can see that streaming is the way forward and them going traditional is gonna cost them more that it’s making them money. At the current moment they’re leaving out key demographics (18-35) even the under 18s who’s get their parents to pay for it for the family and who’d be all in if they were given an easy opportunity and access but also it’s has to be financially sound like a £10/11 per month to stream and watch back any game in the premier league and to do so like a premier league streaming service it’s seem SO obvious but those guys up top i feel have a limited vision and can’t open their eyes no matter what anyway’s great video man 😎🔥👊

I want to watch *my* team, every game, every week regardless what time the kick off is. I don't give a crap about other teams. Why would i pay an expensive subscription to sky to watch my team maybe 4 or 5 times in an entire season. I no longer live locally to the team I support. There is a waiting list of years for season tickets, regular tickets sell out immediately to those in the local area meaning it is all but impossible for me to even get to a game. I would gladly pay for a high quality stream for every game for my team for a season but they don't. Until they do i'll continue to stream from whereever i can.

You're a great explaining why streaming is important I'm a huge NFL and College Football Fan in America I have a streaming service from a TV Antenna company where I live my Dad suggested we get it Now I have access to All Sports -English Premier League, NFL it's crazy good only for $25 dollars a month LoL not going to lie it the best

I would pay as much as £30 monthly just for premier league matches, but give me *all* the matches. Conversely there should be options where you just pay £15 a month to get access to one teams games (your fave). So I take out a Liverpool subscription and get access to to all their games.

The real problem is: 1. The premier league sells video rights to like 5 different companies, different companies get different games, you need 5 subscriptions to catch all matches 2. Only half the matches are even shown So if you want to watch your teams matches you need to stream.

The most annoying part is how despite paying the sky high fees, we still can’t watch games during the Saturday blackout. That needs to go

Illegal streaming fills the gap that shouldn't have been there in the first place what I want is a subscription to my own club although I don't like the idea of giving big clubs a bigger ffp advantage but I don't want just a premier league pass I want to watch my team in the league cup fa cup in europe and friendlies as well as the league games

Depending on how greedy they would get as this is the reason why people stream really annoying the fact rest of the world can watch games from UK yet people who live here barely get to watch a game the 3 pm rule is stupid now in this age BEGGING FOR THIS TI HAPPEN WOULD BE AMAZING TO GO TO APP FOR FOOTBALL

It's to easy to watch online. Plus over the last 10 years the amount of sport you get for your money has gone. Growing up it only needed SkY to see evey game. Now you need 5 services at 5x cost. Usally poor quality broadcast.

yep sums it up. I stream it illegally as the costs are just too high. This netflix style streaming sounds amazing.

This is very unlikely in my opinion. Actually I would pay $10 or $20 a month to have access to all football matches however Premier league is the only reason people still have cable tv around the world. It is usually the selling point especially Europe, Africa, South America cable companies. No chance. They aren't losing a lot on illegal streamers. All pubs/bars in world, pay premium price as well. Where I am from bars in rural Africa pay premium for it too. So no chance they are doing it. Everybody knows cable is dead except for sports.

Valid point in south Africa DSTV (our cable basically) is being run into the ground now they are burning money on sports deals because otherwise nobody watches it.

Yes yes and yes, would love a reliable legal stream with a choice of all matches at a reasonable price, its a no brainier, get rid of that 3pm Sat blackout too, essential fir the modern game, hope this comes sooner rather then later.

It's already here in the US (Peacock) and has been since 2013. That's EVERY Premier League game. All 380 of them. Thanks NBC.

Non PL clubs have their own streaming services for their own games and it’s great! While pretty prone to technical difficulties and being overpriced, it’s much more convenient just to watch matches on my club’s website instead of having to deal with illegal streaming sites

If they do it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they go to Apple ala MLS. Apple has been consistently interested, and unlike other streaming bids they don’t care if the EPL also keeps its TV deals in place so long as there are no blackouts. They have shown they have the expertise to do the transition and they are one of the few tech companies that have the money to make it happen.

There ment to be relaunching ESPN Player so it would not suprise me if they end up on Disney + as an add on at some point under an ESPN + Hub. But Apple certainly have the money to do so. DAZN might be an option aswell as they have NFL Game Pass now.

If you read the super league 2.0 model - free streaming of all matches (and a actual relagation and promotion system) is a part of the model. I think we would need to see something big like that succeed (not necessarily the super league, but a big enough format of a league, to challenge the prem, building on the 'streaming' idea). To see the prem consider it If that does not happen, i dont see it change much for how it is today, and its going to be up to the TV stations buying licenses how they are going to build a business around it. In scandinavia you can already stream all matches through viaplay, but its hella exspensive (but you get The Prem, CL & Bundesliga). The only way i see this happen, is if the prem (as you say) choose to facilitate the streaming themself - and i dont see this happen aswell, the prem is driven by the 20 clubs currently in the league, who has the means here to make a worldwide streaming service?? Netflix is from 97, those means they gained to build their streaming empirer, wasnt gained over night. With that said - it would be much needed, but as long as the prem is as poppulary it is, licenses will be pricy, and tv packages for those licenses will be pricy.

They are pushing prices to the point where the value they provide is not worth the cost. They have to make it easier and more affordable to watch or the piracy will just keep flourishing.
