I’m an HSP and I had to stop using social media all together for a few years but I’ve started my own RU-vid channel and trying to start up a life coaching business so I needed to get some of it back. I like connecting with people but sometimes feel overwhelmed/overstimulated by social media platforms.
I strongly agree with you Lex. I work in the tech space, yet I’m not exactly thrilled with the privacy invasive aspects of the industry. I used to have a large social media following. I left that all behind because of all the pressures involved. Now I’m much happier with a more limited social media footprint.
Same. I care so much about what other people think, and reading hate comments and arguments makes me feel unsafe and lowers my self esteem. The internet is doing so much damage and it’s getting toxic. I heard people kill themselves because of cyber bullying. Cyberbullying is so serious that it can lead to suicide
I’ve been having this conversation with my best friend & I share your sentiment. As technology is advancing I feel the need to be connected to “real” things & things that actually matter. We all know that these company’s don’t have our best interest at heart & we still don’t know what the effects of social media does to our mental health long term but studies so far have proven that it’s not very good & it scares me. Recent studies have shown people are becoming more antisocial & unable to form bonds, people are evermore lonely & suicidal than ever before, thus causing people to act out & be more violent. Birth rates have decreased, millennials are having are harder time finding a partner to start a family with because again, people don’t know how to create bonds anymore & it all scares me & I simply don’t understand how anyone can see the positive in this & find excitement. It’s depressing, people are not okay.

the little things ARE the big things (I wish more people could realize that), and this top heavy waste based corporatocracy is a candle of soft wax burning hot (but not so bright), it won't last long, unfortunately it will burn out violently. please don't let toxic people tear you down, it will be a rough ride till this garbage culminates, but there is something MUCH better coming afterward. hang in there, you rock 👍👍
Isn't that part of the problem too? Everyone wants to think there are only 2 sides to a fence when in reality there are more than 2. Progressive doesn't actually mean progressive anymore these days it means regressive.
I'm 27 and Im also worried about the state of things and where it may go. AI does not scare me though as fire kills just about everything and tech does not like heat. Im more scared of people hacking things like self driving cars and killing whole highways of people or a WW3. AI its pretty low on my list as water may also fry AI and if we really need AI dead there is also EMP options. I agree on wanting to go back to what is real because the digital realm is anything but, that. Even iv gone back to playing things like Chess and Yugioh with my brother rather then doing so much online gaming. Having a board game or real cards with a real person in front of you even in the context of gaming just feels way better as we tried the Yugioh card game online and I seen in 30 seconds how it was lifeless. On one hand I think we should keep growing but, I think there is a balance we need. Tech is a tool and can do good but, if you dont know how to use said tool it can hurt you or even kill you. I think we are in over are heads if you ask me. This topic is deep and no joke I could talk for hours if not days on what I think about this stuff. You are not alone Lex I'm with you on this one.
