Yes, by all means. I had a 2001 Convertible I got in 2003. From 40-70 it is a rocket.

My 01 viggen is identical to this one. I am the 2nd owner and have 225k miles on it. STILL a fast car. Stage 1 tune...full 3" exhaust and open air intake.

I actually think the wheels presently on the car quite suit her, but for originality you would prefer to source original alloys. Am I right saying most Viggens were 2 door of convertibles, as they seem to be in the Uk. Looks to be a good project with not too much TLC work to make really nice. Best of luck!

I had one as well, it's a blast but you'll want to add a steering rack brace for sure. The Viggen has wicked torque steer without one

AND the rear ASB. I've heard that is actually at least as important. I'm about to find out on my 2001 LR 5 door. 34 in America.

@@KingCast65 I had the 3 door, but they are hardly different. I swapped the hubs, brake booster, calipers/pots/discs to 00 95 Aero too that was a huge improvement. All in all I had it running about 280hp at the wheels, but had spent 20k in parts, a few hundred hours of labour and probably 2 pints of blood to get from 190 to there. (235 at the crank) My current winter/dog hauling car, a 2017 WRX only needed about $4500 and a day and a half to go from 215 whp/225tq to 302 whp/310tq. Direct injection is the shit, provided you have a way to clean the valves.

@@warpdriveby rn i need to get at why my Viggen is stumbling under full boost. It was occasional so i went to try a set of BPR7ES instead of the factory spec plugs. i could not get the 7ES to fit so I just put the originals back in but they were perfect color no problems. Well the stumble got worse. MAF? Coil? I'm taking her in tomorrow to get the seafoam oil replaced (300 miles is more than enough) so i'll let them know about this.

I would pass on it, try to find the 99 in thunder blue, 2 door , this one is not worth the $9500 price and it has issues. Maybe at $3000, a local saab and audi mechanic looked at that viggen, think he said it was in Denville? He said wasn't worth it. Just sharing the info, love watching your video's I own a 2002 saab 9-3 se conv blue with blue top, had 102,+ when i bought, was $1500

Yep I saw the same one, Viggen's have a lot of price inflation as of late for some reason, that one is $9500 and I've seen pristine ones going for around $6000 but with slightly higher mileage. I had my eye on this beautiful blue 99 2 door but someone bought it right before I could.

@@augustushaas9810 Blue one got away,sorry to hear. But for me saabs aren't worth much, cause people are afraid to buy them, from their burden of problems, and the fact that the company is gone , makes them very difficult to sell.

Don't know if you've priced Saab Viggens or Saab (Classic) 900 SPGs lately...but the asking prices on both cars have gone completely nutso bonkers. Classic 900 turbo hatches are ticking up as well - not as insane as Viggen or SPGs...but getting up there. The car I genuinely believe is grossly underappreciated (ergo, undervalued) is the NGSaab 900/9-3 for years 1996-1999. Yeah, I know - "GM Saabs SUCK!!!"...but I've ridden, driven and owned both the NG900 (1996) and the 9-3 (1999), and have likewise driven and owned Saabs from back to the days of the 99s (not as in 9-9...which doesn't exist, but the 900 precursor '99 (1979.) I just think the midyears NG Saabs (again, 1996-1999) are woefully overlooked as being pretty decent and reliable cars. I know the Viggen is the headsnapping "late" model Saab everyone raves about - but I think the price trends for that car of late is driven at least as much by reputation as it is by performance. In short - As an Econ major in college, I would regard both the Viggen AND the 900SPGs precipitously overpriced defying what would be their reasonable price points...and I think it's a mistake to overlook the 1996-1999 NGSaab Turbos (manual, of course) as a dirt cheap opportunity to snag a pretty damn decent car.

Save your money for something newer. 19 years of rust lurking underneath. The roof head liner just the beginning of a lot of repairs coming. Look for one of the ng Saab 9-3 Aero 2014 they made from spares.
