I once had an anxiety attack early in the morning. It was a very unpleasant feeling. You wake up to a rapidly beating heart and your mind is just full of anxiety and fear and dread. It felt like my mind was trying to split apart. I got up ran to the shower and hit the cold water... instantly helped. This stuff really does help. Keep on rockin everyone.

I realized that my anxiety is like cold water (it causes stress on my body) so I started to perceive anxiety as something external to me, and when I feel it I imagine it's just cold water...this helps me to don't identify me with my anxiety which therefore disappears quickly! I can handle it like a cold shower..hope this is helpful for someone else :)

watching it from a neuronal perspective, the chemicals that your body releases from anxiety are exactly the same, as if you take a cold shower. so your method is exatcly the best thing you can do to train ur brain for anxiety attacks. :)

Do you do all the way cold? Did it this morning, just the cold tab and it even started hurting 😂 and that was just for like 20 seconds
@Cobaltfire360
@Cobaltfire360 Год назад
@@johan9388 Music helped my Motivation a lot 😄 In the beginning I started with warm water for the first minute and then changed it to cold water (At the first drop of the song actually). I focussed on the music and powerful, controlled breathing for the rest of the Song (Btw i Used Billy Talent - White Sparrows; but most songs work like that 😁) Sometimes i still need to hype myself up with music first (mondays and hungover days for example 😂), but most days i just Place myself Directly under the shower and turn to max cold, just focussing on slow, controlled breathing. I actually learned to love that refreshing kind of pain 😀 I should add that this might be dangerous if your body isnt used to the cold or your struggling with heart disease tho.
@johan9388
@johan9388 Год назад
@@Cobaltfire360 broo I love Billy Talent! I re discovered them like a month ago when remembering one of their songs. I listened to them alot when I was like 12 - 14. 26 now. The cold showers are going decent. I just take my warm shower and wash myself. Then set a timer for 3 minutes in which I gradually go colder. And then when the timer hits 0 I go all the way cold and time it. Started the first 2 or 3 days with 15 seconds. And today was 30. Liking it alot! Gets easier already. Today the last part of graduallly lowering temperature was kind of more annoying than all the way cold.
@johan9388

@@Cobaltfire360 I have to add I have heart arrhythmias since like a year. Its not that bad. It was acting up the last few weeks but somehow seemed to get less these past 5 days that I have been taking the cold showers. Could be a coincidence tho since they come and go. Before half way January they where almost gone for like a month at least aswell. But as I said I build up quite easily, so I'll be good :)

I started taking cold showers in early January 2022 and that turned into taking them at night before bed paired with 4 rounds of the breathwork and I've gotta say, works like a charm. I used to have to fall asleep listening to something on the computer, now I can jump in the shower and go through my routine spending about 2-3 minutes in the cold which quickly starts to feel euphoric, and since its Summer where I am I end it on cold, then I'll play the guided breathing on the computer, once that's done turn everything off and I'm asleep in about 5-10 minutes. Cheers

Finally I was able to look at myself in the mirror and say “2 minutes of pain will not kill you - we’re doing it”. I stayed in for 4 minutes. I am still smiling about it 😂 to anyone struggling to get off the fence, about 40s in your body adjusts. Then I found myself trying to sink into the water as much as possible because it was my exposed skin that felt more cold than the rest of my body. Also you could try gradually adjusting the temperature from 15 to 12 to 10. Good luck everyone- you can do it too!!

A cold shower raises adrenaline yet lowers cortisol? Cortisol is only released in direct response to elevated adrenaline (epinephrine and norepinephrine). Mechanistically, a cold shower (or cold plunge) in the morning makes most sense because that is when adrenaline and cortisol levels normally peak in a healthy circadian pattern. Adrenaline and cortisol should be at their lowest levels at night for proper sleep.

Love u Wim! You are the best! You have no ideia -or maybe you have- on how much my life change while doing your method. I live in a tropical area on North East of Brazil, called Fortaleza -is a giant city-, but is whorm the whole year, about 30 degrees all year long. Because of that, I didin't do too much cold expousure in my life -only when I lived in the south of Brazil-, but the breathing I did it SO MUCH, like thousants of rounds in my life, since the VICE documentary that I saw. The breathing alone change my intire life -sometimes I thought that was being something bad in my life, but with the years passing, I saw the tremendous change that had done in me. I've had drug issues, ezquizofrenia -I still hear voices-, bipolar, 2 suicide attempts, whent to drug rehaab, psiquiatric intitutions, and all sorts of mental illness, but along all this problems the breathing help me to change my body chemstry, to see all the lights, all the chackas, to recive blessings, goosebunbs, to cry so much, to wanna live again and to be a good person. I am a different creature, but I will continue do do the breathing, and the meditation. And like you said, when you see all the chackas, all the lights, It becames boring, but is always too good to do the breathing. God bless you Wim.

@@coreyellis6788 this is the truth, cold water is very uncomfortable on the body, specifically running down your neck and back, but if you can push through it you will find major benefit

im the same about cold showers, but wim is correct, i started with breathing exercise and did them for about a week or 2 before trying cold shower. i was able to control my breathing and it helped with the cold shower. get your breathing under control first before trying cold showers.

Cold showers are also healthy because you're grounding/earthing. The pipes are connected to the earth and so is the water. Using earthing mats or walking bare feet on the earth helps a lot too.

Doing the breathing method and feeling the improved lung capacity and ability to breathe more naturally when under pressure, like when ridng up a hill with traffic around, or in a challenging situation, has helped significantly. I only do short cold showers so far but that seems to lower inflammation which makes you feel calmer, more alive and in control. I can get dizzy if I stand up too fast after the breathing and I think you have to avoid the full breathing method when about to get into water and don't do it during immersion or you could pass out. If it's true that the method alkalizes the blood then this is very useful as acidic levels tend to be high in people today and combatting this is one key to good health, if you ask Tony Robbins.

I started cold showers many years ago, and never went back to hot showers, unless I was sick. Unfortunately, even if I do like the cold shower effect, it doesn’t prevented me to catch Covid or flu. Even though it can improve your immune system, there is no miracle.

I'm starting with your mini three free courses. I only have two fears. I can be inconsistent and I have under control asthma, so I think this creates a fear on the hold breath and no matter how oxygenated I get I cannot hold on to the no breathing for even a minute. In part I know is my stupid head mixing with anxiety telling I can't. So the question to you is: can people with asthma do the cold shower thing? And how should I go about acclimating to it? Thank Wim. I adore you and some day will have the money to join you personally. Because your energy in person has to be off the charts. And I love that. I don't know if this is how you ask questions here, but is the only social media thing I care to know how to use. 🙏

I’m going on 3 months of daily cold showers. First thing in the morning at 4:30. The first couple weeks weren’t the most pleasant, but the feeling afterwards was worth it. Now I crave the feeling and can’t imagine not doing it everyday the rest of my life!

Thanks for another great lesson Wim! The initial effect of cold water is to cause blood vessels to constrict, resulting in a slow-down of blood-flow, thus, a depression of the vital processes. However, soon after the application of cold, the body reacts by strongly dilating the blood vessels, which powerfully increases blood-flow to, and stimulation of, bodily tissues.
