Question; Do managers have a peak, like players? Also can this finally settle the "who is the best manager ever" debate
@MarkWTK
@MarkWTK 2 года назад
maybe some of the best managers can adapt their tactics accordingly (Ferguson, Ancelotti, heynckes) and can last decades, while others changed the fundamentals of the game for an era (Guardiola, Johan Cruyff). but I think most other managers definitely have a peak: Mourinho, Arrigo Sacchi, Felipe Scolari, Wenger, etc

@@MarkWTK interesting, so does that mean there's an element of luck for most top managers, being in the right place and time in which their methods are effective? Q. Can a billionaire, rather than taking over a club, start their own club? like, for example, if Red Bull are to, rather than buying a dead club, to make a new team, say Red Bull London, how long will it take them to reach the premium league, given money is not an obstacle. In which country can you start, and reach the top league quickest?
@thebrotherhood227
@thebrotherhood227 2 года назад
One problem is they’d have 0 fans, outside of a couple 100’d who’d turn up out of curiosity. Even small clubs have generations of fans in England or a local catchment area with decent enough population (unaffiliated population) to eventually gain interest like MK Dons
@HufflepuffDaddy
@HufflepuffDaddy 2 года назад
They would need a stadium first, to generate gate income, a rather big stadium. Of course Red Bull could build a new one like they did for RBNY of MLS but between London real estate and the stadium itself, you're talking about a huge investment. Would like to see it happen, but might be better off buying Palace or Brentford or similar London club instead and just slap on the RB logo as the main sponsor or totally change the badge and deal with OG fan protest, lol.

Should form a club in Wakefield. One of the largest cities in Europe not to have a football team.
@msherif428
@msherif428 2 года назад
If Red Bull London becomes a thing, they'll need to start from the bottom up. Founding a football club is usually a hassle, but it's Red bull, it's going to be easier for them. If they start in London with an amateur team, they'd have to join one of the regional divisions in tier 10-11, depending on where they are in London. Given that money isn't a problem, they would quickly work their way through the tier 8-9 Isthmian league, and then the tier 6-7 National league. At which point, they turn professional, and it slowly starts to pay off. Then, they join the EFL at League Two, then One, then the Championship and the Premier League. Theoretically, they would need at least 11 years to reach the Premier League, given they get back-to-back promotions every season. Realistically, they would just buy a financially struggling Championship team, because it's much quicker.

The part on Norwich was a brilliant explanation of data. Dead keen for more. Also, should the Oceania federation exist? Shouldn’t we just fold all those teams into the Asian confederation rather than having New Zealand steamroll all those Pasifika countries? Or is there a purpose to it, even if NZ pretty much has a free run to the World Cup once the number of teams gets so big Oceania gets an automatic place?
@8wayz2shine
@8wayz2shine 2 года назад
Logistically-wise it will be a nightmare for Asian-based teams to travel all over the Pacific Ocean. Imagine Iran having to travel to Fiji - great for the sun and sea, really bad due to the long round-trip. Not to mention how will the fans be able to travel, if they really want to make it. I think it is kept more as a way to develop football in the Pacific instead of actually running any competitive tournaments and qualification games.

What about splitting the AFC and OFC into 2 confederations: the Pacific Football Confederation featuring east Asia, southeast Asia, and Oceania nations; and the AFC featuring south, central, and west Asian nations. It would give the current Oceania teams better competition and a less silly qualification process, but less travel and complicated qualification formats that a 60 team AFC+OFC mega confederation would have. Now I would still have the Asian cup tournament featuring both confederations every 4 years (same year as Euros), but otherwise they would have seperate tournaments and World cup qualifications.

I’m biased as a Cambridge Fan myself but, Cambridge are a nice one to look out for, a young manager who has been at the club since he was 16, for them promoted in his first ever season as a fulltime manager, then they lost a lot of their star players but are still looking comfortable lower-mid table in League 1 (and beat Newcastle in the cup this year) - they just bought the rights to their own stadium back and seem to have an owner who actually cares for them, Cambridge themselves won’t amount to much probably BUT, the manager is one to look out for

Question: I'd like to see a comparison of how the average position and stats for the rightbacks AND leftbacks of the top 3 teams in the EPL differ. The athletic put out stats comparing the English RBs and TAA looked bad vs the others but I'd bet Robertson more than makes up for his "failings" because of how they are utilized in the game. The whole right back conundrum England has with TAA constantly being touted as a worse defender than Walker and James has been exacerbated by what the systems ask of him. A specific example is how his headed stats are so bad, but LFC always puts Robertson on the front post for set pieces and Trent at the back. So Trent doesn't get the easy chances to block the first ball.

PS - keep up the good work, your content is informative and hilarious.

Tifo are just a bunch of philosophers that enjoy football and talk about that to be more palatable. At least i’ll believe that.

Q: who is the most tactically innovative and interesting manager outside the Big 5 leagues? And which club would they most suit if a major club comes in for them?

What is your favourite goal of all time and why? Me? Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick against Barnsley. Running away from goal, catches it completey on his foot, in the top corner. I was 19 at the time, so maybe some goals are age-related.

How about RvP's header vs Spain at the 2014 world cup? That was memorable. But my favourite is probably Yekini for Nigeria against Bulgaria, at the 94' world cup. The goal itself was a simple tap in, but the celebration is what makes it iconic. Plus, it was the country's first world cup goal, ever.

Can you analyse how Diogo Jota is able to score so many headed goals in relation to other players who score with thier head.

As Divock Origi will leave for AC in the summer, should we expect his ‘super sub’ goalscoring successes to translate into regular goalscoring from starting xi spot?

The last couple of years seem to underline that the best teams in the world (City, Liverpool, Bayern, Chelsea to an extent) have idealistic managers who play brave, attacking football with high pressing (Guardiola, Klopp, Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Flick, maybe Ten Haag) whereas the mid 2000s were dominated by pragmatic managers like Mourinho, Benitez and Ancelotti. Can you explain what or who the biggest factor(s) were for this evolution ? And since the aforementioned "pragmatic" managers seem to be on the decline, how can they bounce back ? Is it possible that in terms of tactics we could see the comeback of rigid, cautios, low-block defendig on the highest level (not teams like Burnley) ?

Tuchel and brave do not go hand in hand, he's a very caution first manager, and when faced with a decent side he resorts to stifling the opponent rather than playing his own game. I'd have Ancelotti in the brave group before Tuchel

In response to the best DM itw question, I am quite surprised to hear no mention of Fabinho. A crucial cog in the LFC system and seems to be underappreciated....This prompts a question of What players seem to get talked about when they are playing well (and silence when they aren't)? Personally Benzema, Hazard and Kante come to mind. May seem harsh but look at Hazard/Kante while having 7th placed seasons. Anyway do you have any examples even if you disagree with mine?

Seems like there are more teams transitioning into the 4 defenders but 1 full back bombs forward and one stays back to form a back 3 (Arsenal - Tomiyasu), (Man City - Kyle Walker), (Celtic - Greg Taylor). Can you give out some ideas showing how this style of play benefits? And how to effectively counter this?

How good is Fikayo Tomori, relative to England’s other options? Is he underrated because he plays abroad, or is it a case of “absence makes the heart grow fonder”?

my question to the team would be whether or not JJ has ever told them the story of that sweltering hot summer of 2007, in which he earned the nickname 'the bull'? hoo boy, some memories there.
