I'll give you your point if they lose tonight. I prefer to stay positive being up 3-1 and at home with the crowd. Let's face it, the Celtics went off with 20+ 3 pointers in the season many times. They have not done that in this series. They are due. And let's talk about the negative around Dallas. They allowed themselves to get down 3-0. Good luck winning 4 in a row against the Celtics. Even if, and I say if, they get it to a Game 7, they would need to beat Boston twice in a row at home.

He can stay on them, but due to the injury and how much energy he expends just an offense to keep them in the game he tries to get by on minimum effort as much as possible. That gives Boston a huge advantage but at the same time they’ve taken that huge advantage and averaged 14 points a game less than their season Average so his defense hasn’t really been hurting them much except when he fouled out.

@@SDesWriter I agree. And really in the first 2 seires his defense was kind of crazy good. He knew he was not shooting well so he tried harder on defense. The Wolves series they needed his offense more but his defense slipped a little. His defense in this Boston series has been a step or two below what should be acceptable in a lot of cases. I do think doing this playoff run on a sprained knee is insane so I give him a lot of credit. Even if they can't pull of the miracle I'll see this is an amazing run for him and the Mavs.

You’re almost totally right. The only thing is Kristaps made the Celtics a superteam. They got him cheap since he’s fragile however without him they are very beatable. Tatum is shooting incredibly bad. Given how bad he’s shooting which has to be somewhat mental you question if him as the leader could mentally fold and give the series away.

Today we will find out if the Mavs really figured something out, or if game 4 was just Boston showing their chivalry

I'm a Cards fan and I felt like the BoSox winning in 2004 was like inexorable destiny. The Cards simply could not hit. So, do the Celtics psych out? If there ever was, it will be Tatum. My counter-argument is that it only takes oen Celtic star to go unconscious shooting to seal the series. We all know it happens.

​@@jofieji5312 your analysis doesn't hold up though, Celtics are "very beatable" ? They've dominated every series they've been in, had won 10 playoff games in a row, without Porzingis. Tatum is not shooting well from 3-point, he gets double-teamed the entire game. Still is having a good series by affecting the game in other ways, passing rebounding and defense.

@@veebee-sc4tp I don’t believe that because if you go through the games analytically Boston is always shooting with a hand in their face. They look open because Dallas is closing late, but by the time they let go of the ball someone is right there either trying to block the shot or at least closing on their position to distract them. It obviously doesn’t work every time and some Boston shooters aren’t bothered by it at all, but it’s going to lower their percentages if you can contest most of the shots. But if we’re not gonna give Dallas credits and say it’s all because the Celtics are just shooting badly, what makes you think after four games of bad shooting they suddenly going to go for 45 to 50%? Isn’t it even more likely that they’ll continue to shoot poorly because there will be more pressure and none of the other factors are going to suddenly turn in their favor? Like I keep telling people, everybody bitching about Luka’s defense can’t point to any actual negative consequences. Supposedly his defense is so awful Dallas is getting everything they want and yet their 14 PPG below their season average and haven’t gotten above 107 in any game in the series. If Luka can ignore defense completely and save his energy for offense and the results is Boston getting 107 points, they truly are screwed.

I think that’s a very fair analysis. The only exception I would have to it is that it’s entirely because of Dallas’ inexperience that Boston was up 3-0. The role-players are finally relaxed enough to shoot and play smarter on defense and the result was the blowout. Obviously that’s not gonna happen again because Boston will play harder, but if both teams are playing hard and not scared,is Boston really 3 - 1 better than Dallas? I don’t think so.

@@slytoe44 well it’s entirely possible they could be if they’d gotten production from the role players. They go 11 deep in people who can actually play in any given game. Unfortunately, the only person who had a finals appearance was Kyrie and the only handful made it to a conference final. They were inexperienced and most of them choked under the pressure and contributed nothing to the team. If Kyrie could’ve had a big game in Boston they could’ve taken game two but in game three even with Kyrie and Luca playing fairly well there wasn’t enough scoring from the others to win the game. In game 4 no one had big numbers but you got such balanced production from their bench that they overwhelmed Boston, who struggled with shooting and Dallas’s defense.

@@SDesWriter all I see is a bunch of coulda, shoulda, woulda BS. The thing you don’t realize is no one cared when Boston was up 2-1 against GS and blew the lead and lost the series. GS was more experienced and outlasted them two years ago. Reality is this year Boston has executed on both ends of the floor and capitalized on Dallas mistakes to go up 3-0. Dallas had their chances and blew them both. Boston has responded to adversity all season long. Now they’re one win away from the ultimate goal. I believe they will get it done tonight.

Not saying it's an accident, but when one team comes out totally flat and the other plays 110 percent, it's not surprising. The Celtics sat and waited for rebounds while Mavericks went and got them. Celtics lose game 5, there's a reason to be nervous.

@@siegmund87 It's not just game 4 for me. The Celtics lose game 3 if the Mavs wake up 1 minute earlier. Literally. They were red hot and eating that deficit. Give them 1 more minute and it's a 2-2 series. I think the C's might be collapsing again. It's a worrying trend with them. Again, I think this started in the late 3rd quarter of game 3 and then the Mavs used what they found then in game 4 to annihilate the C's. If they do it again, it's a reverse sweep. Kidd is a genius at pregame adjustments and scheming. He might've found the hole: Tatum + 1 - Brown= we win by 20. That means because JT is slumping(by his standards) they want him shooting. They can account for 1 more hot guy unless it's Brown because he's a microwave scorer. Horford is old, and that depth is mostly on defense. The Celtics need to finish it now.

Just admit your a Boston fan. Sometimes Tatum fails to even make an impression. His game, his personality is a little bit Vanilla. He’s obviously a great Forward, but not a top tier one
