"Thank you for providing information concerning the Equality Act. I am sorry to say that I was unaware of this bill before hearing you speak about it and provide the phone number to Capitol Hill. I did call! My question is: shouldn't my church's pastor and elders speak of these things to our church congregation? In my church, they avoid topics that are attached in any way to politics. I spoke to my husband who is an elder concerning this, and while he agrees we are in a spiritual battle, he doesn't think the church should speak about political issues from the pulpit. He and I are in total disagreement on this matter."

Politics can be discussed in church, but it must be done in a way that discusses a nation's laws and how it compares to God's laws, and not discussions that relate to one political party versus another. In the church I go to there was a horrible incident which took place recently when the pastor asked a panel of 3 people to talk about the incident in which Iran's General Soleimani was killed. One woman, sounded off with venom her pure hatred for Donald Trump. When a parishioner corrected her on a fact, the woman shouted down the parishioner for having the audacity to disagree with her, as if she were a biased political commentator for CNN or MSNBC. Of course, the woman has only been in this country for about 20 years, but even when I spoke and tried to give a brief history between Iran and the United States, beginning even back when it was Great Britain who was pumping the oil from Iran. I then spoke of the Iranian Revolution and the hostage crisis and very odd relationship the United States has had with Iran, she cut me off, shouting and blaming President Trump for trying to start with Iran, as if the general that was killed was akin to a kind hearted gentleman who never bothered anyone and never attacked anyone, as if her statement was factual. Therefore, political discussions do at times mustf be allowed in church but certain political discussions have no place in the church.

Of course, the church should Speak On Political Issues from the Pulpit. LBJ made a law that to do so would put them at risk of losing their tax-exempt status. LBJ feared that the churches could prevent him from being re-elected.
