I took mine out in the rush hour traffic first time yesterday, i lived! haha. Don't know if it was the bikes size or the fact i could keep with the traffic flow but i felt i got more consideration on the ebike than i ever got on a 'normal' bike. As for reviews, i like your channel as it is, that's why i subbed, for reviews i just love TailHappy TV, that guy pumps positive energy. Keep up the good work.

We certainly are sticking with this. Probably my main point on this video is that many of the reviews that get seen are coming from a salesman perspective. I understand it from the manufactures point of you. But I’m just not interested in becoming a salesman. That being said if someone were to offer for me to review a bike that I would be very interested in. if they would meet my criteria, I would certainly entertain that idea. But they have to meet my criteria as much as I would have to meet there. Thanks so much for watching.

I agree: Don't become a review channel. I know some reviewers personally, and it's a lot of extra work unless it's your only job. There are some positive aspects to it, like when a friend of mine unboxed a Super73 RX and found the frame cracked, and the company changed the design because of that live show. However, other companies would have responded differently. I think the e-bike perception is based a lot on ignorance and bias. I saw one news report that said e-bikes were as fast as cars and can kill people. The whole "e-bikes don't make noise" argument is hilarious. What sound does a regular bike make?

Wow! I would give my left testicle to have a video get over 130,000 views! 😂 (just kidding) ... This is just anecdotal, but I'm seeing more and more e-bikes out on trails all the time. If they ban them, they're going to upset a lot of people. As for review videos...I'm not a big fan of that genre (unless it's a camera I'm thinking of buying). My favorite content that you guys do is when you go out and ride new trails. Or go on road trips (go figure). I've never been sent anything to review. Guess I'll decide whether to cross that bridge when and if I ever get to it.

Michelle and I are kicking around an idea about at least finding out the percentage of ebikes out there. Beyond that we are drawing a blank on what to do to change the perception. I said about a year ago, that some of these faster bikes should be called an E cycle or something like that. That would’ve helped, but that ship has sailed and sunk. I saw you are expanding your territory some. We are definitely looking forward to it.

I am in that position right now. Do I become an review channel or not. I have been thinking about that for weeks now. I dont like the one and done videos like the big review channels do. I like getting an bike and actually use it well past the first review. Giving my audience insights to how the bike holds up over time, what upgrades will help improve rider experience, not just one review and then on to the next. I am thinking of maybe having 3 or 4 brands that I stick with so viewers can be more confident if it is something they want or not, but making videos on trips, local trails and everyday life while riding these bikes.

Thank you for watching Lance. I understand what you’re saying. My problem with this is they do not want somebody to review the bikes and tell people what they are like. They want to hire you as a sales person. That’s why I have dumped any links. as you know you get almost daily emails of somebody wanting to collaborate. I have a standard email that I send them back that tells them to send me details of the particular bike. If I believe it is something I would like to ride on a daily basis I may be interested. That takes out about 80% of the offers. If that test is passed. I let them know very quickly that I will not submit any videos for them to approve. I had considered going that route, and I am not saying I will never except another bike to review. I am not even saying I would not promote some particular bike. But it is going to be because I feel like it is worth doing, not because that’s part of the job. Of course, everybody Hass to make up their own mind because it can’t be tempting. Personally, I think you do a very good job with it. But that is irrelevant, it’s all in that direction you want to go. Again, thanks for watching and good luck.

IMO, NO! Stick to what you've doing. There are too many e bike review channels already, sometimes you will see a dozen reviews on the same e bike. But not many on WHAT to do with your new e bike, or WHERE to go on your new e bike and this is what is most enjoyable about your channel. The back and forth between you and your lovely wife is a lot of fun to watch

If you start doing reviews I think you will find you won’t have time to just get out and enjoy a ride on your own favourite bike. I’ve saw it happen to others on utube. At least you would have room to store 10 to 20 bikes. I would watch your reviews.

Thank you Bob. We’re certainly not intending to become reviewer‘s. The ebiking is for our fun, and the RU-vid channel is a way for me to get out of work for a few minutes and step away. We started that because I’m somewhat of a workaholic. I don’t want to take what I use to get me away from work and turn it into a job. Lol thanks so much for watching.

Another comment on the review subject, there are some e bike channels that are so obviously trying to please the e bike seller that their reviews become unreliable and i will unsubscribe to them.

This video was just a answer Some questions that some had emailed and put in a comment about whether we were going to become a Review channel. We do get a lot of offers, but I am only going to respond if it is something that looks like I wouldn't turn it into a daily rider. If something comes across, that would fit that description, I Let them know up front that I do not submit any videos to them for their approval. But because I had several questions about whether or not we were going to start reviewing. I wanted to make sure I answered those questions. As always, thank you so much for watching. Chinese ebike producers should make safe ebikes. States can regulate operating bike ,safety rules. Stay away from product reviews. I like your travel videos best.

Stay just how you are! The reivew people are alwyas so opinionated about what they think is the best e bike for everyone is. And there is no one size fits all. I have 3 ebikes all theee have very different useages. I also hate that they seem to brag about getting so many free bikes! Stay humble just like you are!

I agree and thank you for watching Amy. I have excepted a few, but seeing what they’re looking for, makes me realize they are wanting to hire sales people not people to review their bike. I agree I just shake my head at some of the statements I hear. So I have a standard reply when the offers come in that let them know. The only thing I would except is a bike that I would be interested in riding as my daily bike. I also let them know that I do not submit any videos for preapproval. I have a feeling that will take care of most any of the offers. Now, if something comes across that looks like it would be something I would want to go and purchase. I will talk to them about excepting. But I will never again have a link that gives me any kind of commission as that just turns this into a job and I do this channel to get away from work. Lol.

eBike reviews are cool, but... they are, somewhat a dime a dozen, and, if viewers aren't interested in either the brand you're reviewing or the style of e-bike (for instance, many of us are NOT interested in trikes... at least not for, hopefully, quite some time), they'll likely not even click on the video to begin with. If I was in YOUR boat, I'd be thinking about what the majority of my subscribers and potential subscribers want to consume. You'd be better off sticking to ebike concepts (styles of riding, thoughts on the "why," the "how," etc.).

Thanks for watching Tony and you are exactly right. I have developed a reply email for the offers that come in. That probably will take care of 90 to 95% of it as I let them know straight up front unless it is a bike that I would be taking on my daily rides I would not be interested. I also let them know That I do not submit any videos for them to approve ahead of time. That pretty much takes care of most of the emails that come in. Now if someone had a bike that they wanted me to ride that I was very interested in. I would certainly be open to that. I would also not be against promoting the bike if I felt like it should be promoted. But I will not allow any kind of commission or anything that could sway my decision on the bike. But when they see one flying around, they know that is an E bike and think every single one of them is doing that. Not sure if anything could be done about this.

@@southernebiking 135k is a very good view count. Think my best is at 33k (Solar tour Vegas to Phoenix). Some people just want to stop others from smiling. I am not one for following the rules all the time but I do slow down when needed. The solar e-bike trailer helps with the being slower part. A light guy could go 40 mph on this Trek BBSHD without the trailer.
