Interesting. I’m 67 and no longer have menstrual issues but I remember having significant ups and downs when I was younger. My cycle causing my issues actually never occurred to me. Give yourselves a break and some love ladies! Chocolate too!💕

This is really important information to me as a female runner😉❤️👍 Thank you a million, coach Holly!!! Today is my B-day, and I celebrated my day in my own good way of logging 7.31 miles to mark the DATE, NOT my age. Haha... 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️💞💞💞

I'm doing a paper on a related subject: men women differences with cannabis. Same reasons as you mentioned for affects over the cycle. It's good to understand the plumbing, so to speak. Women's health and our discussion of it is very important, almost a rare video. Sisters, mothers, daughters...and the sons too, born stronger because of this health awareness. Thumbs up.

Great tips! Unfortunately, this info comes about five years too late for me. I’d love to see a video on tips for post menopausal women and how best to exercise and run. Thanks for the info, wish I would’ve seen this when I was much younger!

Eerie timing ladies. Thanks for this. You’re the best! ☺️ Even knowing my mood will improve with some activity. I started procrastinating on a benchmark I wanted to complete today because of cramps and head ache. “Better to do something than nothing.” Thanks again for the reminder. 😜

Thank you for this video. The information is so valuable and your perspective, expertise, very much appreciated. I'm approaching 50 and just started running about six weeks ago. I had no idea how my cycle affected my energy and ability. This will help me stay motivated !

I love this! Great information--our cycles have an impact on so many aspects of our lives! I have noticed that my PMS symptoms have diminished greatly since I began running. Getting out and doing something really does make a difference! ❤

Great tips! As an overweight, 44-year old woman that is new to running, I will definitely learn to me more gentle with myself and adjust my 100% based on what my body is going through that day, and whatever else my forties throw at me! Thank you for this one, ladies!

I read that your endurance is better during your cycle! In fact, I ran a PR marathon (4 hours 20 minutes) on day two of my cycle (heavy day). I do feel my weakest right before my cycle!

I found the same. I always felt better once my period arrived and at my worst during ovulation. I'm 57 now and not missing all that. It helps that I've never had any menopause symptoms. I'm guessing because of the running.

👍🏼 I’m a 3rd generation emigrant of south-asian decent living in the UK. My community has moved away from a long-standing culture of agricultural farming, which has had a big impact on us. We have thrown the baby out with the bath water by turning our back on an active (tiring) lifestyle in favour of a progressive sedentary one. I am a member of a local forum and exercise group geared toward encouraging and creating opportunities for a salubrious lifestyle amongst our local community, both men and women. We have a running group, walking group, outdoor adventure provisions, and soon a cycling and archery hub too (inshaAllah). Any of your advice to assist women, young and old, kickstart and keep-up an active lifestyle is really appreciated. We hope to develop female sports leaders within our own community too. Are there any apps which customise training plans around the menstrual cycle which we could suggest when asked? Or is it just a case of train to the plan and compromise the intensity when required?

Holly and Morgan you guys awesome and so right. Im sharing this w my daughter who runs and my niece who lifts. Id add that as a coach i thought that every workout should be customized. Woman have different hips that can create more range and hill power in ultras (go courtney) but really sex age body type. All create differences. And a built in monthly upswing in confidence? Id give my right arm for that super power!

Its so true though. I feel supper energized before my period, and then I drop off during , and then I feel stronger to push myself again to get back in the game after. =) And, I agree. You should still get moving a little bit. I like yoga to help stretch out the body during my drop off stage.

So I'm 57 & while I have never experienced any menopause symptoms I still have energy dips. I do remember ovulation being the worst phase in terms of energy, maybe because of the increased fluid retention. I actually felt pretty renewed once my period arrived.

that’s a great question, not 100% because women still don’t have the same levels of testosterone as men and we need different nutrients as well. especially calcium because when women get older they loose bone density so adding in more strength training is key.

Most of the work out videos on RU-vid are from women coaches. They are very helpful, challenging and sometimes hard. Before my runs, I start one of your warm up prog (Coach Morgan too) before running, plus add one of your strength training too.
