Hello, my 1988 Heritage stays cranking even with signal wire from switch disconnected, I have to disconnect the battery to get it to stop, the solenoid is only 2 years old, it just started doing this after a backfire on startup, do you think the new starter clutch I installed because starter wasn’t engaging is bad from backfire or starter clutch fork got bent ?
When something like that happens to be I always start with the last thing it ouched. I would dig into the starter clutch again, check the forks like you mentioned. But your symptoms are similar to what a failing or stuck solenoid might be. could also be worth it to check your handlebar switch to make sure its not sticking.
@@DWchopshopafter tearing it apart and looking at everything I swapped out the starter solenoid with a new Accel one and so far it seems to fix the issue I was having, I also swapped out my Drag Specialities AGM battery too even though it was testing good, it was 8 years old and I figured it was time, the handjebar switch and starter clutch I left alone, sucks I only got 2 years and about. 2,000 miles out if the solenoid that was in there
