Find out what first-time Tony nominee Stephanie J. Block has to say about fancy awards season events, bonding with her fellow Tony contenders and why she's still exhausted from "The Pirate Queen."
I used to e-mail Stephanie now and again, and she would usually respond. I never met her after "Wicked", but I did after "Anything Goes" (her first stint). After AG, I mentioned something to her from an e-mail, AND SHE TOLD ME MY NAME! My friend were very impressed. I've seen her a few times since then, and she always remembers who I am. I tell my friends that I know the greatest star on Broadway and she knows me. Seb is the luckiest guy in the World. She's such a sweetheart.
She is wonderful. Not only gorgeous with one of the most beautiful voices, but she's so fun, articulate, candid and super sweet. It is one of my dreams to see her live. :)
I never saw *The Mysery of Edwin Drood.* However, I discovered her through her role as *Trina* in *Falsettos.* Also, when she said something about her feet on the ground I thought *"Holding to the ground as the ground keeps shifting."*
Well first of all, I became a definite fan of Stephanie by this interview. I love how smiley, bubbly and open she was (especially talking about her husband Sebastian), ("Can we talk about your dreamy husband?")(Stephanie's answer " Yes Please") and I could sense how strongly she wanted a baby when the subject was brought up and am so happy she did eventually have a beautiful (just like her Mama) little girl. And of course who better to win your FIRST TONY AWARD for playing none other than CHER.
I met Stephanie after seeing her in 9 to 5, my first Broadway show, and she was literally the kindest person I've ever met at a stage door. She stood there and let me ramble to her about how much I look up to her and when I asked for a hug she said "OF COURSE YOU CAN!" So sweet.
I kind of think it's cute when she teases Sebastian about having a baby, he'd be willing to take time off from his career and let Stephanie go back to work, and then Stephanie says "and I love him and his intention is there, But, when he catches a cold it's the end of the world, so (she) can't imagine him actually being pregnant and (the way she motions her hands describing) giving birth, so (she'll) go ahead and take that duty for her family. 😄 So adorable and so funny.
She is so incredibly genuine and classy. There are Tonys in her future for sure. If she had to lose to anyone then I suppose that it's alright that it was Patina.
She said hi to me last night! I was on this Broadway.com online party, and Laura Osnes came on, and asked if we'd like Stephanie to come on, and I went, "Please, Laura!" Then Steph came on and said hi to me and some other people who were on, and I toled she rocks and that I am one of her biggest fans, and she said that ment alot to her! :) She is awesome and sweet and talented!
i didnt know how full her stage career was! wish this interview was longer, or that he had asked more questions about her journey to broadway, not so much on her baby plans and twice about tony awards week, but thats just me. Also this must be the quickest broadway.com has ever uploaded show people to youtube
Lol was looking for her show people interview like two day ago, cause I was like there must a sjb interview somewhere and then this popped up in my subscriptions :) yay!
Ok, we all know who'd win the belt-off. *cough cough* Stephanie. Stephanie knows it and all of us Blockheads do to. I just wish the belt-off really happened at the Tonys.
