The A350 finally has dimmable windows, but how do they compare to the 787? I was recently invited to Toulouse to visit Airbus's headquarters, and during my time there they were keen to show off their new window tech. How did it perform? Let me explain...

Am I the only one that doesn’t see an issue with the existing window shaders? I mean surely they are cheaper to buy and maintain, offers greater autonomy for the passenger, and it takes a second to be closed.

@@cdfgjrvbdjhvjdr2429 From my experience the crew just leaves them turned on so you can't see anything out of them, which sucks on long flights across unique places such as Greenland.

It is useful for jetlag, many passengers don't follow the procedures of some airlines for jetlag like setting the mood light, and for this they need to turn down their shades. Some passengers refuse to turn down their shades, so with this they can control the windows (The pilots can lock it to dark mode).

It isn't a fair comparison. The Boeing windows were much older and were released included with the first aircraft, but the Airbus windows were relatively recent, so they had time to implement improved technology.

I’d rather the Dreamliners widows, you can still at least see outside, which was also the point of them not getting them blackout 100% of the cabin.

I will be curious how a apples to apples comparison goes. With the 787 test being in flight, the film was likely much colder, which usually slows things like that down.

I actually prefer the plastic shade bc i was on a flight to Israel a few years ago and it was 8 am over the Mediterranean and I couldn't see out of the dimming windows

Yep, I HATE the 787 windows and hope the A350 windows have improved and learned from the 787 failures! Maybe the B777X has learned the lessons too!

The 777x uses the same ones that will be in the new a350. He recently did a video on the new interior of the 777

I just wish Airbus used physical buttons instead of capacitive. I can imagine people inadvertently changing the window settings with the capacitive controls

787 literally has no problems, the 737 MAX 9 might be a little shaky, but it’s childish to act like every single plane made by Boeing is going to crash

@@Your_Local_Nerd Besides the 2013 lithium-ion battery fires that forced Boeing to ground the entire fleet. Other than that, I can't think of any other incidents with the 787.
