Showing the Difference Between RGB and Pixel Sabers

Basically a video informing you why one is more expensive than the other. More sites should have videos like this.

An important thing to mention is the durability of each of them. Due the fact that a base lit hilt utilizes a hollow polycarbonate tube with 3mm-6mm thick wall, there's no LED's or wires inside the blade to damage or break so even if the polycarbonate breaks (Which is really hard to do with the 6mm) a replacement blade is cheap and easy. Ideal for full contact dueling. Pixel blades however are a different story. Most companies will state they are still rated for full contact dueling, and they can in fact be dueled with, however there are some caveats. Firstly, there are lots of components that make up the electronics in the blade. The Polycarbonate itself is just as strong as base lit blades with 3mm or 6mm options. But there are some key areas vulnerable damage. The LEDs themselves can be damaged leaving a dark spot on the blade. Wires can come loose or break also leading to areas of the blade not lighting up. Issues or damage to the PCB at the base of the blade or the pins in the hilt can lead to issues. With that said some of these issues can be fixed if you know what you're doing. A simple soldering job or just replacing the damaged part such as the PCP or the LED strip. You can also just send it away to a saber smith or some companies offer a warrantee and will fix it for free. Sometimes the whole blade will need to be replaced and pixel blades cost roughly 3X as much as base lit blades. Pixel blades are also much heavier than base lit blades especially the 6mm walled ones. In conclusion,,, Base Lit Blade Pro's -Lighter -More durable -Cheap to replace -Easy to modify the length Base Lit Blade Con's -Not as bright -Not uniformly lit -No fancy animations Pixel Blade Pro's -Much Brighter -More uniformly lit -Ignition, clash and general animation -Customizable/Programable animations -More accurate looking Pixel Blade Con's -Much heavier -Electronics inside are vulnerable -More expensive to replace -Harder to fix or modify I'd recommend no more than light contact or choreographed fights/performances with a pixel blade. It won't necessarily break with full contact, but it can and has been known to happen. For full contact dueling or even intense choreographed performances I'd stick to a base lit saber. You could even just buy one hilt then get a pixel blade and chassis to swap in and out depending on what you're doing with it.

Proffie seems like a perfected saber for our time & yea the RGB definitely reminds me of the classic sabers from back In the day ! Can’t wait for that tournament next year it’s going to be sick

In my opinion, the proffie and Xeno pixels are THE best boards ever. I've never owned a proffie, but I have a Xeno and a SNV-4, and the Xeno just crushes the SNV-4 in almost every aspect (except the sound, my Xeno saber cant even compare to the sound of the SNV-4), but oh boy the smooth swing of the Xeno is on another level...

I knew from the moment you discovered that Korbanth Starkiller saber a few years ago that you would eventually create your own line of smooth swing sabers. That video was my first time seeing these lightsabers also and like you, I’ve been wanting a realistic lightsaber since my childhood. I remember working in FYE and they sold that Master Replicas Vader one you have. I used to walk around playing playing with it (pause) the whole time I was working 😆😂😂 If I buy another smooth swing saber, it’ll certainly be from Theory Sabers!!!

Do also remember the fact that RGB blades are MUCH cheaper too, and they're hollow, meaning you can hit stuff with it and duel all you want with little risk of damaging the saber. The Neopixel blades have stuff inside and excessive hitting may cause partial damage and buying a replacement is more pricy. You don't have to replace a whole saber In either case, but it's something to be aware of.

This was the exact question i had when i first started looking at theory sabers (honestly, i still don't understand it, so im excited to watch the video!!)

Yesterday, I got the Vader Saber. Pixel one. Waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully, it'll be awesome😅 my first lightsaber was vaders, and it was one of those retractable ones where you had to flick it so the blade would come out😂 I loved it. Looking forward to this one.

Personally, I like both. I think everyone should experience a Neopixel, but if collecting several hilts, RGBs are much more affordable. The hollow blade also makes it lighter for balanced spinning and less likely to get damaged if you drop it

I've been out of the hobby for some time but isn't the RGB more robust and suitable for full contact saber battling? At the expense of how absolutely cool the pixels look? Perhaps a little add on to explain to me (if things have changed in the last 5-6 years) and others as to the vaunerability of one against the other with heavy bladed. Thanks. Cool channel

From what I can tell the rgb saber would be more for duelling compared to the pixel saber which could be more susceptible to damage if hit to much. Is that right theory or am I just talking shit?

I've got a very specific question about the Ani Episode 3 saber you offer. There is a very minor detail only Korbanth seems to get right, and since you do own one I'm pretty sure you know about it. I'm talking about the "pyramid shaped" grip thingies on the handle clamp. In source material on the outer ends of the clamp the "pyramids" are split in half. Yet, all sellers (except Korbanth) make the pyramid shaped thingies end as a whole. Sorry I cannot explain it any better right now. This is no hate towards your sabers and I guess most of the people out there do not know/care about this at all and I guess the costs of changing the design are not worth it either. Still, since you yourself are very passionate collector of high end Star Wars replicas, it would be cool if you could at least consider "fixing" this. Anyway, good luck with your store!

Question, Is the pixel saber made for combat/choreography? Because Ive seen the pixel sabers here in Perú and they are definitelly not suited for combat due to the blade made of leds, as of the rgb one that has more durability for combat.

While Neopixel looks a lot better if you’re wanting one of these for dueling then go with the base lit. Since the light source is the hilt that means you can beat the literal crap out of that blade and not worry about electronics breaking. With neopixel while it is durable you risk dark spots in the blade. And those replacement blades are super expensive

Probably should have mentioned that the rgb is suitable for heavy duelling as opposed to the other type.
