One common problem with the Shure SE535 is when the shell starts to crack and comes apart, the fragile internal ribbon connection could be torn. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how you can repair such damages.

Hello from Malaysia. You guys saved my SE535. I bought it 2013. The shell failed 2017. Attempted to fix it 2018. But the sound was not balanced. Somehow found your videos few months back. Subbed. This weekend, I did a bit of spring cleaning. Found the item, and decided to give it a go. Followed your video ang omg, Last night I got it working! I soldered the signal and ground at the wrong location last 2018. Soldered at both side of the capacitor. 😅. Now it sounded back to normal. You guys are heroes!

Much appreciated!! With your help I fixed my 535s of about 9years The mmcx central pin broke as I've used it a lot (changing wired/Bluetooth setup) I opened it myself and attempted to resolder the flat cable, to no success. Thanks to your video the earbud is back to working condition, and when the left piece will stop working, I'll fix it right away :)

Can this method be applied to a SE530 conversion to SE535? Specifically use this tutorial to soldier the mmcx female connectors to the SE530 drivers and installing them to a new SE535 OEM shell.

Thank you, I was able to fix my 2 pairs, 3 earphones were broken (my life wouldn't be the same without you). But couldn't do the soldering of the jack plug, that was too difficult cause is a 8 cores cable, and I burned my finger lol

Do you know what size capacitor the positive wire is connecting to? I knocked mine off when attempting the repair and it has disappeared forever to the floor.

Just use any cable inside a throwaway headphone. I found some old airline throwaways and managed to fix mine. Was waiting for over 3 years and then gave it a try as I couldn’t find the cables

I bought a soldering pen and i think im good on soldering the mmcx connector, but my resistor fell off when i was soldering to it... 😔

Thank you for this video! I tore the ribbon cable in the right earbud a couple of days ago due to the case glue cracking (had them for 6.5 years), and one half being left in the ear when taking it out. There is now hope that I can repair it! Do you know if it is possible to acquire a replacement ribbon cable, or would that not even be a feasible DIY way of fixing it? I realize soldering would become more precise and delicate.

Soldering is the easiest, a new ribbon cable will also mean you will need to remove all the drivers and redo the driver soldering which is very advanced
