Do the smaller sensor bridge cameras perform as well as their larger sensor siblings? Here’s a simple side by side comparison of four Panasonic cameras and a Moto G5 plus, to find out.
All cameras are using the standard colour profile with auto white balance. I have used the lowest ISO possible for each camera and 1/50 shutter speed if the light allowed. Although In some recordings, rather than use neutral density filters, which can affect the clarity and colour balance, I have increased the shutter speed instead. Audio is from the built in mics.
Here is a quick rundown of the tests.
1) Test one is a wide angle test where part of the building is in shadow and the rest in sunlight. At this range both the Fz82 and Fz330 look good when viewed full screen but show less detail when enlarged.
2) Test two is another wide angle test. All of the cameras were able to record the fine detail of the branches. It shows that the Moto G5 plus wasn’t able to set the correct white balance.
3) For this test all of the cameras were set to the same focal length, which should give a direct comparison of image quality.
4) The forth test was taken later in the day as the sun was setting, the statue is in complete shadow. Initially all of the cameras we set to match the same focal length. Then the Fz82 and G7 were compared at their maximum zoom. Noise is visible in all of the enlargements even at low ISO.
As the minimum aperture of the Fz82 is F5.9, at this range, the increase in ISO becomes noticeable as noise when the image is enlarged.
5) The final test sees how close each camera can go at maximum zoom. This is useful when you cannot get close to the subject. The G5plus has a nice sharp image but is almost touching the subject. With the Fz82 it was better to use a lower zoom. The G7 has the largest image but the fz2000 is clearer and sharper.
I hope this test is of interest. It should show that the cameras with the larger sensors, such as the Fz2000 and the G7, are more detailed and better in poor light. Although the differences are not huge, the G7 clearly has the best image quality.

Not a photographer, but I wonder how to make sense of the result of the comparison if the iso, aperture, and shutter speed were not set the same at the beginning of this clip (again, for instance, at 6:06). A 80 iso will (most likely?) show less details in poor lighting than 100. Or, why not just use the best setting for each camera and compare their best result from the same distance and with the same lighting?

Thanks for the comparison, well done. Crop factor of G7 in 4K, for me, is less than 2,41...

I have taken the figures that PHOTOfunStudio shows for the equivalent focal length for 35mm. It shows me the same crop factor regardless of the lens when shooting in 4K. I get a different crop factor if use 1080 or take a photo. What figure do you get?
