SIDI Mag-1 Boots Review www.revzilla.co... With features like Tecno-3 Magnetic closures, replicable external shin protectors, and injection molded polyurethane panels, there is no argument that this is one of the most technical boots on the market. The Sidi Mag-1 Boots aim to step up your track day game, providing you with streamlined protection (that ensures you'll never get caught up in a rear set) and unflappable control in a surprisingly lightweight package. An upgrade from its predecessor, the Sidi Vortice, the Mag-1 boots are the pinnacle of race performance in a boot, allowing for flex where needed, but staying firm in all the directions your ankle won't bend. Internally, the innovative brace system is built from carbon fiber for the best in featherweight support.

I've just bought them. I am loyal user of Sidi, they always were perfect for me. Vertebra, Vortice Corsa were my favourites. Mag 1 are very comfortable, I think more than all previous Sidis I have used. Really light and easy to wear. Love them ;)

I'll stay with the bomb proof. They're warm in the north east winters and cool in the north east summers. They've also protected my ankles and feet from broken bones. I'll put my life on the Vortices.

The Vortice is still a beast and you're right Anthony, they look more bomb proof and sure they are.

Love the Sidi brand, had a pair of Vertigo's for years and they held up well! The new Mag-1 will be on my wishlist for the track for sure. Nice beard btw, Anthony!

SIDI has treated me well, too. I've had great experiences with the Cobra and Vertigo boots. The Vertigos saved my ankles in a low-side. The Mag-1 boots will be a great addition to their lineup. The beard is nice but I think a handlebar mustache would be better. -Hi-Viz Brian-

I get on great with my vortice, they are a bit of a pain in the arse to put on with all the clips etc, they offer great protection, look great, not that bad to walk around in

After 6 months riding in them i grabbed them today and out of pure curiosity bent them, boot bent where the ankle is like a rubber, where is that air craft grade carbon fiber Brian ? NO ANKLE SUPPORT in this $500 Boots ? I am now scared to ride in them and will loose money on selling this BS !

Will always be loyal to Sidi, I crashed at 70mph with a Sidi boot that was $200. This boot is magic, haven't crash tested and hope not to.

It's worrying that for a race boot it doesn't have hyper extension/flexion safety?

Hi I have a question to ask you about the mag1 boots. I have a size 10 and they fit lengthwise my toes are touching the top of the boots that are a little tiny crammed in there will they stretch out lengthwise. I also have a size 11 and they're a little too big so what would you recommend sticking with a size 10 and having them stretch out will they? I wish they would make a half size
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 6 лет назад
No, these boots will not stretch, so you might consider the larger size and putting slightly thicker insoles inside or wearing slightly thicker socks. -DrewZilla

Do you think that Sidi will bring out an Black Air version in anytime soon? Seems very strange that they only did the air version in white.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
NomadicDreamcatcher Not strange at all. It's a super premium boot, so it makes sense to start with one color (smaller production runs while still having good inventory). If there's high enough demand, Sidi may offer the Air in black. -DrewZilla

Wait, so MAG-1 isnt a replacement for Vortice? Vortice wont be put out of production when MAG-1 is released?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 10 лет назад
It seems that Sidi is keeping them side by side for now, but I suspect that will only be until they run out of inventory. The Mag-1 is such a direct feature upgrade to the Vortice that I can't imagine they would both be around for much longer. -CK

So is the Vortice the boot for a street (non-track) rider who wants the ultimate in protection, with no compromise?
@SuperPukingRainbows
@SuperPukingRainbows 10 лет назад
they're basically the same with one having bulk exterior and a replaceable sole.
@NomadicDreamcatcher

I think I like these boots but for one minor problem and that is. In the black version I can not find the air version. So then how does the none air version hold up in hot weather? I read on one report that the front air vent (the toe end) lets in a lot of air to keep your feet from getting too hot, but the guy who said that did not say where he lived. I was thinking of getting the Sidi ST air but it looks a lot more bulky than the Sidi Mag 1 does, I would like to wear these under my Draggin Drayko Jeans size 32 my calf is about 14/15 at the widest point.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
NomadicDreamcatcher The Sidi Mag-1 Air Boots are only available in White/Black, so if you want all that venting, you have to go with White/Black. The non-vented do provide a bit of venting, but not a lot. The Sidi STs are bulkier than the Mag-1s, but both boots will fit your calves. -DrewZilla
@NomadicDreamcatcher
@NomadicDreamcatcher 9 лет назад
Thanks for getting back on this but its that i'm not worried about them fitting my calf, it's more about the trousers fitting over the boots. The Mag 1 there would be no problem the ST maybe. I have a 15.1/2in calf so what would be the circumference on the outside of the boot with me wearing it.

I was trying to wear this the other day i found that the TECNO-3 Magnetic is too short for me as I got a bit fat leg, and I see you selling the TECNO-3 Magnetic Long (although its currently out of stock) does it help? Can anyone share any other work around? Thanks!

Any idea how to loosen the calf strap at the very top (not the tecno-3, but the more traditional ski-boot-like strap towards the inside)?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
Yes. If you notice, there are two little prongs or teeth on the piece that holds the strap (not the screw that secures the other end of the strap. You lift the strap so that the strap is in the slot on the other side of those prongs/teeth. The strap will be perpendicular to where it was previously. You may need to remove the retaining screw on the other end of the strap, so that the strap can be manipulated more easily. Once you've 'unlocked' the strap by lifting it between the two prongs, it should slide easily. Once you pull the strap out a bit, you press it down through the space between the two prongs/teeth, and it locks in place in the new position. You can then reattach the screw on the strap end to secure that end to the boot. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

@RevZilla

+JCR Motovlogs They aren't as easy to bend as that reviewer may have made it seem, but it is true that the Mag-1 Boots were designed to be lighter and slimmer than the stronger Vortice boots. -DrewZilla

RevZilla I bought these about a week ago. I have worn them for about 350 miles so far in the last 2 days. These are the most comfortable, true to fit boots I've owned.And I own quite a few pair. I have a irritating bunion on the left foot. The Mag-1 system allows for a nice snug fit everywhere but also gives me the ability to loosen the lower ratchet on the left foot when off the bike. This is great since the left side of the left boot won't rub and irritate my foot. I commute in them now and they take very little time on/off ... microseconds more than my Dainese Torques. I recommend these boots without a doubt even with the cost. They are so adjustable and comfortable that I don't see me continuing to hunt for the perfect boot. I found it.

Sidi fits me best, but I still can't get over the way they look. The heelprotector sticks out too much, it looks like a womans boot cause of the high and smal heel, etc...

Heirloom boots made out of "synthetic" leather - LOL! "Synthetic leather eliminates all imperfections..." Or they could simply use full grain leather (I'd happily accept imperfections) which is extremely tough, durable, re-workable and, would offer a true "Heirloom" boot. They use synthetic leather because they DON'T want you to keep it long enough to be an Heirloom. Sell you a $500 set of boots today, then sell you another set when the synthetic leather goes to crap. I've never seen a synthetic leather look good after 5 to 10 years of use. Since an Heirloom item is something that stays within a family for many generations, I really get annoyed when you use that comment about synthetic leather on your boot reviews. Other than that, thanks for the info - get a glass of water and breathe a bit. You talk crazy fast. Always seems like you're anxious to get on to the next thing in line. Why not take your time... try the boots on, walk around in them, sit on a bike, give your personal "1st impression" of how the feel?

Watch Earthlings here on youtube mate. Around mid documentary you can see where the leather you wear comes from.
