When we were classmates in high school I told you "listen to this song, it's beautiful". A few months later we kissed for the first time. The first Christmas together you prepared all the Sigur Ros CDs by printing the covers from the web because being students we didn't have the money to buy them originals. On one of them you wrote "I hope they will keep you company while you drive to my house".
This song is so nice that my wife and I used it in our wedding. This is what she came down the isle to. Right at 1:06 is when the doors opened and I saw her! Between her and this song I lost it and just broke into tears!
this kind of songs have the perfect combination of sadness, liberty, peace, hope, pain, loneliness, love, strength and forgiveness... its simple and complex, like itself... just ear and feel... take your conclusions.... excellent!
This song is out of this world, probably my favorite ever! I want this played at my funeral, been a fan of Sigor Ros ever since I saw Vanilla Sky. Pure genius!
This song, for me, encapsulates the feeling of a Portuguese word that I discovered, 'saudade', a concept that has marked my entire life. A feeling of yearning for something that might not exist, an existential sorrow that feels greater than me, more than mere fleeting sadness. Something that will continue to haunt me forever, I expect. But when I hear this song I feel that I am not alone, at least.
gives me the chills. to me this song represents the end of something beautiful and teters on the edge of the happiness it gave you and sadness that accompanies the end of something really good.
I remember seeing them 20 years ago at the Granada Dallas TX. The crowd was left speechless. No one knew whether to clap or cry (in a good way). It was unforgettable.
Fucking incredible band. Soundscapes, the purest textures of color and tone that words can't describe. Simply beautiful...the kind of beauty that makes you cry because you are at peace with everything when you hear, see, touch, smell, taste, that special place we all have inside of us. What would the world be without music? I'd rather be dead than to find the answer to the question. Some things can't be taken from you...music is one of them. It rests in your heart and your soul...forever.
If you see them live once, you'll want to see them again. They sound as good as in the studio, and their music gives anything but a corpse goose bumps.
