Wow.. I practiced Baji Quan. This move is used a lot also in Baji Quan. The resemblance is amazing! Thank you for sharing this Guru Maul!

Beautiful. That throw is called aiki otoshi in aikido. Thanks as always for sharing your work. It's one of the redeeming elements of the internet.

Personally, I've been able to deliver both, in class, and am comfortable saying that they both work just fine. That said, they are two different techniques, although uke follows a somewhat similar path to the ground. 🙏🙇‍♂️

When both discipline found an effective technique, both will accidentally look the same. In the end human has 2 arms and 2 legs similar type of movement can be discovered in any martial arts. Savate probably the best kickboxing form of kickboxing.

Noses, teeth, ears....... Other things people also have. The idea that only gross motor skills can be used under stress is not correct, it means you are not training enough to develop the neural pathways for the pre-motor cortex.

+KEY IN NARANG There are some videos out there were Maul explaines why hitting bruneian fighters to the crotch isn't a good idea... I'm giving you a basic explanation: They won't be hurt, but you will be the suffering one ;)

Love his stuff, but real a real fight/self-defense starts from less than 3 feet away, not 6 or more feet away.

Silat was born out of warfare, against charging opponents from far away, with committed attacks.

I'm looking for a Silat opponent to make a video to demonstrate Muay Thai vs. Silat. I'm not a professional Muay Thai fighter but I'd like to experience fighting a Silat opponent and see if the techniques are effective against a active opponent. Safety will be monitored by a qualified referee and each fighter will explain their style in a video. The event will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia. Your Silat style seems very effective and you are clearly qualified. Are you interested? Thank you. -Ben

muay thai vs silat? i think you mean muay boran vs silat, given the nature of the arts as both were used during wartime between thai empire and malay archipelago empires. i think what would suit your request would be muay thai vs silat tomoi as both are basically kickboxing.

KUS25 Actually this is the opening offer that will later need to be specified. There are hundreds of Silat styles, some of which have deadly techniques. For example, Pencak Silat Betawi. As for me, I'd be using pure Muay Thai, not Boran. I'm not looking to recreate fight sequences from past warring kingdoms. This is a classic style vs. style exhibition.

well i'm afraid youtube isn't a great place to find what you're looking for though. why not try martial arts websites, forums/communities. a great start would be facebook. good luck!

KUS25 Yes, sir. I agree. Even I live in Indonesia and have inquired through local Silat instructors. Nothing so far. Another obstacle is that Silat usually falls into the categories of traditional dance, competition for points, or deadly self defense. So it will be hard to find an opponent who can be aggressive but can refrain from the finishing blows that result in permanent injury or worse. Thank you for this chat, by the way. I appreciate it.

You need to learn the technical like that before practice in a real situation. You need practice it a lot and after it's become natural.

Tarikan tenaga itu tidaklah terlalu ajaib. Di Indonesia ada yang lebih dramatis, seperti ilmu kebal dari senjata tajam dan ilmu tenaga dalam. Melontarkan lawan atau membunuhnya tanpa harus menyentuhnya.

+Khairan Noor kalau betul kenapa tidak di ajar ke polis atau askar Indonesia? Kenapa di tembak tembus? kenapa Askar Indonesia mesti menggunakan senjata tembakan? mahu tahu kenapa? Tanaga dalam melontar atau membunuh lawan tanpa sentuhan itu tahyul tempatnya hanya di dalam filem.

Kalau tanpa menyentuh boleh membunuh tak perlu di cipta senjata pistol hatta parang pun xperlu di cipta..dalam martial art jangan suka ajar perkara tahyu dan menipu orang lain
