What surprised me is the plan to remake Silent Hill 2 first, but not Silent Hill 1. Normally, people will remake the first sequel. Gather experience and feedback from player, and then improve the second game
Probably because sh2 is the most popular one than the first , tho re case its different , re remake is faithful to the old camera movement and shoot style meanwhile re 2 remake is using 3rd person camera than the original fixed camera. What im trying to say the devs experimented on re7 then make some changes in re2 remake and then the team split with either re3 remake (the game isn't worth) and re8 village to make the finals changes in r4 remake
@@atlasg2402 The amount of stupidity in this comment is radioactively hazardous, it makes literally no sense and has nothing to do with what the dude said which was just constructive criticism. You must be feeling very special-here, have a cookie... is what I would have said if I had any.
I agree. So if this does well, then they’ll what? Go back and remake SH1? I mean, there’s no “timeline” to be affected so it doesn’t matter necessarily, but regardless of this being the best-performing game in the series, it’s still odd to come out of the gate with a “2” in the title when it comes to bringing an updated experience for a newer generation of gamers. Damn the logic, I guess?
It's a preference really. I started RE with RE7. I played RE5 after, and just found the first person and 3rd person games better. I like RE2, the the remake. I still fuck with RE 1 remake and 0.
I'm actually playing silent hill 2 for the first time In my life these days. It's insanely good I was in the dark why I didn't play it before. So I hope the remake is going to be as good as the original.
If it was RE, it would be stupid and make no sense. But given the themes and more dreamlike and surreal nature of SH, it works when James does things like that
Around the 8min mark where James is fighting one of the nurses the nurse catches his weapon mid-swing and knocks him back. Small detail but I think that’s pretty cool. 👍🏽
Yeah i noticed that too. I guess they dont want you to mindlessly melee because in the OG the melee had unlimited durability. Also cool how you can kneecap them.
people ask for silent hill revival and there's too much hate whenever the series is trying to bounce back. I never hated any of the games, even homecoming and downpour is something I have embraced and loved as a fan of this game from 1999. Then only game I hated is that "book of memories" because that deviated so much and can't be considered an actual silent hill game. The original is always there if you want but let's embrace the changes on the remake, the developers seems trying to make it right, and it has great improvement from the last combat trailer.
Silent hill fans will always complain because they’ve been deprived of content for so long, and the first thing they get is a remake of the most popular game in the series. The problem is that they’re going to expect perfection, and nostalgia is blind too, meaning this game can improve upon everything and people will still insist it’s trash.
NO, this is the problem, the original is NOT THERE anymore, it's sooo hard to find, and it shouldn't be that much of a struggle to play a masterpiece. They remooved it on purpose to make more sells with the remake and that's ugly.. If otherwise, I'm fine whatever they do with the remake.
@@Kammithekiller That's not about me keeping my copy; it's about blocking the access to cultural content. Only in video games you can see that. It's like "sorry you can listen Dark Side of the Moon - we are working on the remaster version".
The fart face insult was hilarious back then as it as delivered in genuinely sad way. This time it feels very personal. Natural. I like the voice acting so far in the remake. Way better than the HD collection
It looks like the PS5 cannot handle UE5 very well. I have noticed the game doesn't seem to be using Lumen for indirect lighting as well. The PC version will look much better than this.

Damn, the monsters are even more gnarly in this game. That second nurse James fights is just down right nightmare fuel with the way she gets up so quickly after being shot with a shotgun and how she shakes her head so erratically that it looks distorted. Just imagine how gnarly the grey children would be if the first Silent Hill was remade like the SH2 remake.
Our imagination finished drawing those monsters of the first and second parts. Now, when the detailing is very high, these monsters do not look scary. Rather, they are incomprehensible and illogical. The children at school were a brilliant find - these are the most terrible creatures from the first part. All sorts of caterpillars, butterflies, animals then seemed like cringe, but the children were the most terrible and pulled out the whole atmosphere
this series were my nostalgia. i hope the developers have noticed the value of this game and understand what a big game they are remaking....its a tough and big task... well, i will play the game for the beauty of it none the less . and i hope the Blooper team makes it memorable.

Theres more of a demand for this game than i ever wouldve thought. 😊😊 Theres a whole group on RU-vid dedicated to Silent Hill, happy to have found them too
Silent Hill has been a VERY POPULAR, and highly influential series since the beginning. We had multiple huge forums already long before YT was a thing, and tons of fanart online. The series was however completely butchered by the Konami after 2005, when they kicked the OG team out and started throwing the IP to random Western groups. No SH fan is looking forward to this garbage demake. It's literally 1:1 mirror image of the shit like the Homecoming and Downpoor, that were universally shat on for a reason. All the "demand" you're misleadingly referring to is pointed towards the ORIGINAL games, not this woke-trash Polak remake.
10:22 Please no... I hate it when devs put in an 'item tax' where an encounter is triggered every single time you pick up a key item. Like you KNOW picking up the shiny thing is going to cause the gross zombie to crash through the glass. There's absolutely no element of surprise when you do that. It's no longer scary. It's annoying because you can't get anything done without being harassed. Silent Hill was the series that was good at NOT doing this.
Agreed. You half expect it in any horror game released halfway recently but it wasnt present in Silent Hill except when effective. Like when you first pick up the flashlight. Somehow, that mannequin scares you, even though you're actually expecting something to happen.
Yeah they can put the visible item in a room full of monster, give player a jumpacare instead, or use item as a reward for beating a hard area. Making player play cat and mouse with monster give the best horror feeling.
I'm really excited for this, it looks awesome! Sure the characters look quite different from the original one, but in my opinion it gives them more personality, love it
Espero não me decepcionar com esse remake, Silent Hill 2 é um dos jogos da minha vida, e apesar de ser muito caro para nós aqui do Brasil, eu vou ter que jogar isso, não posso perder de jeito nenhum.

Me too. I haven't seen anything irredeemable. SH2 surely hasn't aged well and I like the atmosphere this is having so far, I just hope they don't butcher the rest.
It looks like TLoU with some mist. Any original SH 1-4 makes you feel f....ng uncomfortable in almost any given place and moment without even any monsters, you always want to leave this accursed place ASAP and never return. It's incredibly difficult to achieve what the original achieved. There's a reason there really hasn't been a game like it since, other than the sequels, obviously. This game doesn't look bad but you're right in that it doesn't unnerve you the way the original did. Part of that was probably the fact I was so young when I first played it. I couldn't even play past the first apartment when I first played it. I had to come back months later and steel myself to get through it.
Just curious, why did blooper team make the outside with sun, when clearly it is all foggy in the town? Like you got sunlight coming through the windows, on the leaves outside the window there, what gives? it should just be all ambient occlusion if anything, no sunlight. :P
That's a pretty good point, I hadn't thought of that just yet. I think the fog looks better compared to the first trailer, but it ought to be thicker still.
Original did this too, also when it's foggy outside and the sun sets. Light gets SUPER bright just for those last moments before sundown. So this is realistic and faithful
The general animations still looks weird particularly the combat! Angela is now Transgela. Bloober, do you expect people to buy this at $70? Hopefully, modders will make the perfect SH2 remake someday!
@@AlNeri-cu8gs Bro wtf you on, when did they say angela was trans? Are you just some antiwoke making strawmans to find a reason to hate something? Also there is already a Silent Hill 2 by modders, Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition.
So I like the stumbling that James does when hes hurt but for gods sake, get rid of the red around the screen. It ruins the game. I also prefer the "I got a bent needle." Its so simplistic that its beautiful. Also everything is too bright. You literally cant see without the flashlight in the original so I wanna see that I am in total darkness. What made Silent Hill 2 so amazing was the mature themes, like the monster expressing James' sexual repression or Pyramid Head expressing James' eternal desire for punishment. If they cut Eddie's statement of "yeah I killed that dog. It was fun", theyre not gonna give me a reason to kill Eddie. You gotta go all out here.
I played the OG back in highschool, my glasses arent rose colored. The original was phenomenal, and to get an old favorite remade AT ALL is a priviledge. This looks great- I expected them to rigidly stick to the OG since a lot of SH 'fans' are psychopaths, but im happy to see slight changes. Someone below complained about Maria's confidence not understanding that there were areas where she was meant to be more 'normal' and scared- that if you didnt play it when it came out you might miss (because of decades of interpetation). The scenes where she is scared here align with the original game...people forget that there were limits back then that may have made certain scenes more stiff than intended. Shes aloof outside, but indoors she acts like a person for the most. part. aiight peace, dont join the hate brigade, and enjoy the game in any way you can, old new, or remastered (i still have my OG copies of 2 and 3)
These are not "slight changes", and instantly succumbing to ad hominem assaults + painting the bullseye fallacy in order to negate any and all VALID criticism shows that you are either a paid shill, or extremely shallow individual who's not ready for dialogue. Bluepoopers literally cockblocked Team-Silent devs' original idea for a new story, a new game, just so that they could claim to "stick to the OG style" ... only to turn the whole thing into a generic 2010s-2020s over-shoulder "cinematic" action game with QTEs. All the changes are purely because of incompetent AND some literal, confirmed DEI connections. It's all the worst fears come true.

@@ГеоргийИванов-й6ю9ш You sound like a person who’s played the game. Which I am sure, you aren’t. How can you judge the level of uneasiness from a gameplay trailer, especially for a horror game which requires you to sit and take in the atmosphere first hand. Maybe let the game come out and decide for yourself if it is creepy or not if you want to sound like a smart boi.
This could actually be pretty good. Cool to have the remake being made by Polish people. But, damn, I want EVEN MORE fog outside, and darkness when inside. I hope there's a setting for that, because that would be cool. More power to the people. :)
Ok, I love the original Silent Hill 2 and I am NOT trying to be one of those whiners that hopes this fails. I really hope Bloober can pull this off. I noticed something that concerned me though. At 20:48, look at Maria's posture. It ruins the tone of her original character in my opinion. Maria was for the most part uber confident. It always seemed a little off how she was so sultry, care-free, and detached from all the mayhem that was going on around them. This Maria looks scared and apprehensive. Just an observation.
I've gotta be honest, guys. Other than James looking a bit like "we have Leon at home" and some of the animations being very rough, and the Lying Figure looking a bit off-model... this is looking... pretty promising. I still don't want to give Konami any money, though, if you catch my cold.
Ya... I'm not feeling this guys. For me everything about the original that I love is absent in the gameplay, you can't just put a shiny coat of paint on something and call it the original. To me the camera angles and shooting mechanics are exactly like RE, it looks like RE downright. I don't know, it just doesn't look as "faithful" as they claim.
Honestly, environmental design looks great. There's also the elements like the note-taking and real-time reading that makes the game feel less of a game, but the text and red border break that immersion. Making James limp or appear more hurt is enough. As for the text, it probably just needs that RE2make treatment. The characters are also... okay? They're not that memorable, but I guess that's not really that big of an issue. Angela also looks a lot younger and sounds like it too. It's just that the line delivery is not uncanny anymore. Something about the old one makes the game feel more disturbing. But hey, if it makes people care about Silent Hill again, so be it.
I love how Survival Horror as a genre has seen such a huge comeback after the success of re2 remake. Like even Remedy got in on it and went full horror with Alan Wake 2 and now we get SH2 remake from Konami. What an era

I have faith in this remake... unlike some of you.. all ya'll do is make over RE.... and SH brought horror to another level.. like no other horror game... where's the love ?
The best thing about Silent Hill is its a good game because nobody cares about what you personally think of it. Meaning when SH 1 came out on PS1 you played the game and sat with it, saying what the game needs is a luxury that you really havent earned ever because guaranteed 90% of us arent game developer's. Everyone is a 5 time deployed , qell decorated arm chair general. I dare you to say nothing, wait, and simply play the game lol
I own every silent hill game and this looks like complete shit 😂 I don’t know why, but something is off with it. Mainly being no where near dark enough. Silent hill 2 original you could barely see anything making it extremely scary.
So they are scared of subtlety and making the main protagonist talk outside of cut-scenes? im a little sceptical with this one, maybe they can pull off a "good enough" at worst.. i hope
Truthfully to me it just looks like a more engaging version of it. If you're afraid that it's not Frightening enough due to not being "Clunky" or something like that, Higher-difficulties should scratch that itch. But surely even you can agree that just tapping the same button/Key to whack a monster over and over can't be THAT engaging!
At least the combat looks engaging and fun to some degree. I skipped almost every fight I could in the original. It'd be nice to play a version where the combat is improved. It was my only real complaint with the original.
A fan since the original SH , why don’t make the first one ? Because here are more creatures than the first one? I think the First one is by far the best in the series !!! I will consider to buy in Holiday season, Black Friday ! $70 plus is to much for it ! They should have learned from RE4 remake !
Cool graphics and gameplay, but Silent Hill for me is about the atmosphere, the plot. I sincerely hope it doesn't end up being like Homecoming. I don't expect you to surpass the original, that's impossible. But, probably, the developers will be able to at least get closer to it. Although, you know, it doesn’t matter, judging by the video, the city looks amazing, and I’m incredibly happy about the appearance of a new game in this series!
Now isn’t this underwhelming. After all those years waiting we got this, looks more like an unfinished mobile game with few developers. They should’ve made the creatures taller, bigger perhaps. And perhaps add more dimension? Texture? I don’t even know at this point. It’s somewhat disappointing. I guess RE set the bar high for immersive horror games. Konami could’ve done better.
Some of the combat hits don't even connect with the models, when they do the blood splatter is in a completely different spot from where they're being hit, and the animation looks awful. Genuinely surprised that so many people are hyping this up in the comments, this looks like Silent Hill Homecoming. You can tell it's just another shitty Konami cash grab bastardisation of their best franchise.
ahahahah 70$? really? not even if it comes in golden box 🤣😂🤣 i'll just play cracked version if they don't fuck it up and if it gets cracked, if not who the fuck cares...
Ok. I will forget everything about silent hill, and i will play this game. Looks promising. Not as a silent hill per se. But as a horror game with updated games mechanic. I think this game will be more like Alan Wake kind
