Silent Hill 3 and 4 were the best after the first 2 games. Silent Hill 3 was a bit ridiculous at times but was also scary as hell and the main character was quite likable. Silent Hill 4 was just downright creepy!
I actually thought the game was decent, not the greatest entry, but it was definitely worth a few playthroughs to get all the trophies/achievements. Like people have said there is a radio, I guess this guy just didn't grab it. My advice if you do play it, go through all the sidequests, instead of the main story, those are the best parts of this game and shouldn't be skipped, the main story almost takes a side seat, but they're really inventive and genius I think
Media outlets were dissing Silent Hill 3 and 4 as well. They were singing doom and gloom since the post SH2. So, I don't give a shit about what they say. I'm talking directly to the fans, They shouldn't miss SH Downpour, they'll know how unfair the reviews are by then.
Bought the HD collection over the weekend and I'm still playing it. Silent Hill 2 is one fucking scary ass game. This looks nowhere near as good as it.
just got the game a couple of days ago and I see sweet graphics and so far the gameplay is good. Maybe because of updates I don't see problems with the graphics, most everything looks great.

You also forgot to mention the annoying drops in frame rate, the lack of save points that have been replaced by autosaves that barely work and cause glitching,the absolutely stupid enemy police car idea, the unrewarding side quests and the painfuly shoe-horned in references to other (better) Silent Hill games as if they're trying to remind you it's a Silent Hill game. As far as I'm concerned, it's not.
Unfair review, total. This game is one of the best non-team silent, silent hill game in history. If you consider yourself a fan of the series, this will be FUCKING satisfying. I beat the game it's beyond amazing and now I'll buy it for the 360 after I've already beat it on my PS3. The only problem of the game: the technical issues. If there were zero tech issues, it's easily up there head to head with SH3 and SH4. Also guys You've got to enjoy the new music score done by Daniel Licht of Dexter.
I guess it's not entirely media's fault, it's people themselves who think which is good and not. prove ? look at the comments now about people thoughts. as a man who enjoyed SH homecoming so much when everyone else keep hatin on it, I can absolutely say it's all about taste, not the media for all that matter.
The main difference between team silent's games and those new SH games by western developers is that the old games we're a lot more deep, it explores the terrors in the subconscious minds behind the characters, and how it psychologically haunts them, what made the characters perfect is because they're just regular people with flaws and the voice acting for them nailed that pretty well, those new games seem way over the top and feel really cheap and emulate the crappy movies to appeal to a wider

NO...its the step in the right direction with flaws i.e. enemies, part of story and red chasing ball. + progress: side quests, part of story, part sandbox environment, the actual environment, puzzles and the ending based on the assumption of the actual player. Better than Homecoming, a little less than The Room. With the positives outweighing the negatives, and being better than Home Coming, I'd say they at least made progress. One of the first reviews I disagree with concerning Game Trailers.
errr I have to say that this is a fair review. a review made for everyone (fans/not). it wouldn't be fair if the fans like you who make it, because most of times, fans will defend their beloved series as hard as possible even when the series goin to sink. no offense, but games not only made to the fans, but generally everyone
focusing on combat i mean seriously your exploring Silent hill Not Happy town thats why surprises ambushes become predictable and murphy does have legs so your not forced to fight every time and enemy AI is dumb and this game is amazing
the game suffers from frequent bugs some of these benefit the player (monsters will no longer attack you for no reason, allowing you to kill with ease) and even worse (you can no longer pick up med kits or other useful items for no apparent reason) it's as if the game is so buggy that it is self aware it is buggy and when it notices a bug like monsters not attacking, i experienced this around middle way through the game, it allowed me to collect oodles of goodies without any consequence. But to punish me i later found myself lacking weapons and no longer able to pick up med kits when my supply of med kits quickly ran out from fights i returned to wandering the streets of Silent hill constantly wounded and running away from any fight possible.
oh man this review is hysterically funny lol, in the beginning the narrator asks if this is a good game, they they put in the part where the main character screams SHHHIIIIIIT, and at the end they show low score and the in game little girl screams ROFL
audience, like seriously homecoming had a fucking army guy as a protagonist, are they aiming for the COD audience? not to mention the monster designs have no point at all and do not represent anything and they just made them just for the sake of them being scary looking (which sadly they aren't), I applaud downpour for steering the serious in a different way but it doesn't represent SH in any way, if they renamed it something different it would've been a decent game.but as a SH game it is subpar
to me the shortest silent hill game i ever played was shattered memories for the wii , ps2 , psp. to be fair the worst in the history of the series as far as it sound and looks was going to be the book of memories for the PS vita. to me the best in the series was the first one on the ps1 and SH 3 for ps2 and now for all systems.

If anything, this game was disappointing simply because of it's technical flaws. It is essential that the player be able to immerse themselves into the environment of Silent Hill, making the player feel connected to both the characters and the town. I purchased this game for the PS3, and the framerate is almost constantly sputtering up and down. In addition, there's screen tearing and pop-ins everywhere. The game itself is decent, but I cannot engage myself with it the way I want to.
Downpour is terrible • Frame rate issues and crashes, even after the patch (which was released for only one console) * Attack QTEs, always unforgivable. * By far the worst enemy design and variety in the series. * The complete removal of classic survival horror gameplay - having beaten the game at least a hundred times, I'd say about 85% of the gameplay is completely linear, fluctuating depending on sidequests. Wow, I was really looking forward to this game. The graphics look abysmal and muddy, while the gameplay does indeed feel lethargic and boring. Damn shame for a SH game.
I think it was a great comback for the series they really put in a lot of work just look at all the files and paper in the game very well detailed they really focused on the story more than the gameplay and thats what silent hill is all about. I remember in silent hill 1 when in the school the were little shadow ppl just to add to the scares you couldnt kill them or touch them they were just there. I even like silent hill 4 the room even tho it was towards japanese audience
AC Revelations was a big disappointment though. I did like it and enjoy it, but I SWEAR to you - you'll only get about 3 minutes of actual story line and those are the VERY LAST 3 minutes of the game -.-. And now A.C. III will come out... I'm sure they'll do the same shit again... they'll surely only gives us a couple minutes of actual story - AGAIN... For fucks' sake, I just want them to finish the story but all they are doing is giving up a couple mins of story per game... wtf.

I bought this game being a fairly avid of the Silent Hill series from yesteryear. I played it for two hours and turned it off. Awful dialogue, clunky controls and frame rate issues galore. Just didn't feel like Silent Hill to me in atmosphere.
I enjoyed all the western developed silent hill games except for this one, I wanted to but it's so glitchy on the ps3 (idk if it was better on 360 or PC) that I couldn't really enjoy it.
I got this game like a year or two ago for 1.99 at a pownshop with a few others and just started playing it and it feels really dull and it's taking long for the good to start. I guess I'll start DmC instead...

I think this game ruined Silent Hill. 1 2 3 4 and Homecoming were great. This one just didn't fit in to the overall Collection in my opinion. I didn't feel like I was playing Silent Hill. I would recommend Homecoming or Silent hill 2 or 3.
this game was so un-silent hill it was more like they were trying to go for dead rising kind of game I hated it so much I actually sold the game the day I got it I also finished it in about 3 and a half hours
This review was horrible. So biased. You can tell he hated playing this game and had a vendetta from the get go. The game has too many enemies in town but other than that it nails the silent hill feel. Never had any issues with pop in on ps3 back in the day or now on series x. Murphys story is great and thr voice actors do a wonderful job. These reviewers basically killed the franchise.
This game goes from good to bad so many times, it paralells the whole normal/otherworld mechanic. I will say that some of the ideas and scare events are cool, but it's constantly marred by its poor presentation, annoying monsters, shoddy battle system. Pass

Silent Hill: Downpour was one of the biggest disappointments ever. It was supposed to be open world in terms of traveling via the subway, but the subways were always locked, and there were a bunch of technical glitches. This game was bad. First of all, Sunlight. Second, the monsters aren't scary, Third, Fighting is way more frequent than it should be. The Monsters need to be challenging to fight and horrifying monstrosities from the Protagonist's unconscious, not just ripoff Zombies on loan from George Romero. The Silentr Hill games are about ATMOSPHERE, and the feeling of being alone, not Screaming Monster Ambushes and Combat. Hell, in each ending, Murphy's past is changed. This game is dogshit! DON'T BUY IT!
