For those that were confused by this ending, before their return to the house Sharon, though told by Rose not to, looked and saw Alessa approaching them. Sharon was the remaining kindness of Alessa making the two parts come together, and therefore why they're stuck in a Silent Hill dimension.
Sharon is the good part of Alessa and Alessa's child. Dark Alessa is a changeling demon fused with the pain, hate, and anger from Alessa. Alessa is Alessa, though a psychic and burn victim wanting vengeance upon The Order. Dark Alessa didn't fuse with Sharon; she was curious and wanted to see how Sharon had grown. Dark Alessa channeled Alessa back into Sharon so she can become one and enjoy a good life, safe from The Order in Silent Hill. Dark Alessa kept Alessa's spirit and soul alive in Silent Hill until the time can come that she can be returned to Sharon. Dark Alessa took The Order to Hell with her. In fact, Dark Alessa was responsible for giving up Sharon to the Toluca County Orphanage for safe-keeping in the real world while The Order in Silent Hill was kept in a dark purgatory. Why is Rose and Sharon/Alessa stuck in purgatory? Silent Hill is too dangerous to reside in. They were allowed to go home in purgatory because it is the safest place for them both. Dark Alessa can intervene if need be. In the real world, Rose and Sharon/Alessa is in grave danger from The Order. Their attempt to "cleanse" Alessa brought Hell on Earth. The Order's sins against Alessa and other children poses a great threat to other children and people in general. Their power and influence makes them immune from prosecution for their crimes.
@@user-yf9ku1tl6bI know it's been half a year since you asked this but I hope you're still interested. I'm not sure but I think he means the one with Heather aka Silent Hill: Revelations. I think this is the sequel he mentions.
To this day, this is the saddest movie I've ever seen. Nobody wins. There's no real justice since the cultists never really "see" their sin, and "die" still thinking they're righteous in what they did. Rose sells her soul for her child, only to receive this changeling instead, with the real Alessa presumably being taken to hell along with the cultists in fulfillment of her own bargain with the devil. Dahlia's remorse and warnings were useless. Cybil sacrificed herself in vain. Chris is left all alone, powerless to ever help Rose, and must live out his life with the knowledge that her soul is trapped forever in the outer rims of Hell...
@@keyboardwarria officially a changeling is a trickster like imp or devil that replaces you and then feeds off the love that others have for you and once it is strong enough they can either kill you and take your place or simply let you starve to death however in this scenario she is simply a wolf in sheep's clothing
I have so much nostalgic memories and feelings from this movie, feeling of tragedy and loneliness, most from the ending of this movie :( love this movie !
This film is without a doubt the best video game adaptation ever made, it has a quality of it's own to it where you forget you are watching a film based on a game. Unfortunately the second film was pretty bad and didn't do justice to the first film or to the video game series.
King Sean Absolutely, I've been saying that for several years. It's just a shame they had to pull nearly everything atmospheric from Silent Hill 2 rather than Silent Hill 1. Just a personal complaint as a big fan of the games but I don't blame them to pull the best aspects out of all the best titles in the franchise in order to make the movie as good as it could have been. I hope a good director picks up Silent Hill 2 to make a movie from that is the same quality as the first SH movie. Eirika sacredstones I'd expect more from a Fire Emblem player. This *IS* the best film adaptation of a video game and I doubt anything will top it in the future. Don't tell me the 1993 Mario brothers movie or Silent Hill Revelations is good either.
Chad King He also didn't die in -Jacob -Tom and Thomas -Black Beauty -Troy -Flightplan -Percy Jackson, the Lightning Thief and a way more recent movie which I'm not saying the title here because I already spoiled enough !
I saw this movie in theatres when it was released, and till this day I'll always remember this ending. To say it is "a very powerful scene" should do it some justice. So creepy, eery, sad and unique. After reading many of these comments my questions have basically been answered... but still, for years I was always puzzled as to what exactly was going on in this scene. Clearly they're both at the same place at the same time... but as everyone else said, they're basically in diff dimensions. I never saw the new Silent Hill so I am still forever left in mystery regarding whether or not Rose gets back to the real world. Aside from that this movie really did scare the crap out of me when it came out. All the various creatures, and that good 'ol siren that will never b forgotten. Everytime I hear a siren like that I can't not think of Silent Hill.
MrWillyWonka Rose DaSilva never made it back to the real world, because she had to stay behind. Sharon, however, did make it back. Chris voluntarily remained in Silent Hill's purgatory to search for Rose, allowing Sharon and Vincent to get back to the real world. And all that was in Silent Hill Revelation.
@@roll14tiderollThat's a thing with adaptations, sometimes you're gonna have to do something different otherwise there wouldn't be any point to releasing it in the first place. Fortunately I think this movie captures the theme of Silent Hill really well.
Besides the movie which i think is a masterpiece, i love the scene at the end, that mid/2000 futuristic style home, that scene the spring/summer rain with sunlight trough the giant windows, him sleeping on a sofa after having a shower and then waking up and opening the door with that sad music going on. I don't know, it just makes me feel nostalgia for a place and time i've never been. This home and the one in John Wick are my target home for the future. Love them
ok with the ending i think i saw a little gimpse of the jeep liberty though the bushs meaning they drove home but they are not there in reality but the jeep liberty is and from other peoples sperpective they prob saw a driverless jeep liberty pull up into a driveway
I loved this movie, and loved this ending though of course, it makes me really sad. It's just like Silent Hill, beautiful and sad but somehow, giving some hope. After all I was believed they are not dead, but trapped and they are.
This scenes describes PERFECTLY silent hill, it is a purgatory, you are not dead but you are not alive too, you are trapped, is another dimension, this is the perfect ending, very sour, is not a -bad- ending but it isn't a happy neither, is just, the end
I adore this movie. This scene still gives me chills. Really a masterpiece scene in my opinion. Best video game movie adaptation they ever made. I watched the game first then saw the movie and was surprised how good this is.
but this is something that has already been seen a lot, and it is still seen, it would have been better to put the father as the protagonist, that would have been something new
first I thought mortal kombat 1 was the best video game turn into movie but then silent hill came along so without a doubt this one really a great adaption..
This movie ending is so sad. PS this movie was the very last movie I watched with my late mom in late 2006. “ Mother truly is God in the eye’s of a child “
This movie sound track is amazing and it blends with the movie perfectly. The visual effects are astounding. I am so glad that I got a chance to watch this movie in an old style theater in Berkeley CA with my brother when he was alive. Thanks for making the time to go watch this movie with me. I love you bro and I hope that you are fine wherever you are.
this was such a great and sad ending to a really good movie. considering it was billed as a "horror" movie it made a little sad at the end.(i have kids and would lose my mind if I never got to see them again.)
0:57 I imagine in the end scene where they drive down the road pass the gas station with a car there and it zooms into a bathroom where it shows James from Silent Hill 2 staring into the mirror.
You know, if you are going to cast Sean Bean in a Silent Hill movie, you cast him as James Sunderland. If ever there was an actor born to play a role....cripes what a wasted opportunity.....
@@mibukdesjarlais534Sorry, I did not mean to give the impression I disliked the movie. As game to movie adaptations go, I thought it quite good actually. I still would have liked to see that bit of casting though.
@@sneakyskunk1 That would admittedly have turned out better than what we got with SH:Revelation. Although, if Sean Bean were to play James Sunderland, why not have Radha Mitchell as Mary Shepherd-Sunderland / Maria? (If only they hadn't aged out of those characters... I mean, aren't James and Mary supposed to be in their thirties?)
@@movinitlikedat45 That would absolutely work. I do like the first Silent Hill movie quite a bit. It has problems, but what film does not? Sean Bean still(at the time of writing)looks like James to me. Radha Mitchell likely could still play the role of Mary/Maria. It will never happen. It is nice to think about. Thank you for replying:)!
0% nudity 0%drugs 0%sex 100% beautiful music 100% acting performance 100% of suspence and great story with a tan of gore and tragedy note at the end =pure horror masterpiece
There was a bit of nudity in the movie, but only for a few seconds. In the scene where Anna had her clothes forcibly removed by Pyramid Head, before having her skin forcibly stripped off of her body.
I really can not imagine how dare anyone ruin this masterpiece ? SH1 is the best horror movie ever, no cheap jump scares, no stupid psyco serial killer and tons of blood. Just a pure horror, emotions and a deep story that touches the bottom of your heart and live with you till the end of your life. SH revelation is just a crap, no story and bad actors choices. I've been playing SH since 1999 and for me it died after The Room. The western developers really ruined the game. Look at resident evil, didn't lose its sparks since nemesis or outbreak coz the developers didn't let go. I miss this type of soundtracks, I miss the original SH story 😢💔
If I was stuck differently dimension world i would stand there at my Mother sitting chair say I am here I never left like this movie is masterpiece is about life and loves ones are never gone they are here inside of us we can find them
I always thought when I first watched this as a kid in 2006, both his wife and daughter died, and the place where the wife and her kid was in, was a resemblance of the place they will never be able to go back to, bcuz they are already dead the time they get trapped in that town, where of course they faced their terror in after life (considering if the town was another place for hell)...It's saddened me actually as a kid watching thiys movie, though I don't really follow the conversation back then since english wasn't my first language), it feels like the husband, who's been waiting for his wife and daughter, was also trapped to a place they once called home. It's sad, bcuz on the part of the guy, there's still hope, while on the other side of the wife, where darkness and coldness loom, they can't ever go back.
The feeling of being across the world is relative but to be across the other side of Life is something that makes this ending so Haunting. This ending, mix with the grief mood and such calming sad Music has left its mark on my soul. Still haunts me to this day... Such a wonderful film! 🤍
"Laura Plays the Piano" 0:29 - 1:22 or "Home" . Same piano, slightly arraigned different. 1:28 - 2:36 is "Magdelene Tears Of...Laura's Theme" or "The Longing Remains" if you go from 1:28 - 3:13 Look for it under Akira Yamaoka.
September 2 2024 here. Somehow my mind told me tonight to search for this soundtrack of this movie and i also wanted to see the end of this masterpiece horror movie again. It touched me, just like other visitors here on RU-vid watching this final scene with very good timing of the soundtrack. This scene tells so much about the power of love in the humanity. You would never forget this final scene, how the actor and the actresses look like. Greetings from The Netherlands 😄❤🙏
Most movies are let down by their endings. Truly great movies have good endings. Silent Hill has the best ending ever. It will haunt you forever. It is based on loss. What you lose cannot ever come back to you. You are lost forever. You can never beat this ending for there is no bigger feeling than loss. And the music, wow..............
In the sequel of silent hill revolution rose found a device to bring sharon back home but she was forced to stay behind so they moved to different locations because she had multiple nightmares so Sharon rename herself Heather so she came back to the town to wanted to know why she is She called back there again so Sharon found out when her original self was supposed to be pregnant to get birth to their God so they could be free from the punishment that her original self and her dark half created
gosh i’ve been looking for this movie for almost 14 years 😭😭😭 i searched for “a kid who looked at the ghost then died” and “end of the movie where the main character thought he survived but he was actually dead”. this is so funny af but im glad i found it. my fave childhood horror movie
2:55 they let me feel the passion between me and my first love ,we’ve never talked to each other just by eyes ,and now he’s with someone else married and had kids .😔😔wish I’m him the best
@@noise6327 so sad , I know he loves me till now , because I know he remembers me ,cause I dreamed of him sleeping near me in same pillow then he toke me with , we’re soulmates but I do r know why not meant to be
great movie base on a video game by far second to MK 1 and love the ending even if it's sad but hey it's silent hill so there are no happy endings here..
i cant understand the ending. Rose already called her husband and she got out of silent hill but why is the place still foggy? and also why when she came to the house his wife isnt there? can anyone explain it to me? why are they in the other dimension,
Rose and Sharon died by crashing into the fence but they got into silent hill so they are apparently ghosts but when they get home they are basically in another dimension at least that's what I think
Just you and me He is, in the sequel. He went there against his will, but stayed there of his own volition, to search for Rose. Just saying, respectfully.
