This RGeek case is the same one I used when I tried to do the Ryzen 5 3200G build you did a year or so ago. I used a Ryzen 5 3400G and a bigger 250W RGeek branded Pico PSU and a beefier 12V adapter. The version of the case I bought has a vented lid. Also, the mounting bracket for the ssd drives also can accommodate 2 50mmx50mmx10mm fans. One one each side of the bracket. I have them in push/pull configuration so one side sucks air in and the other blows out. I used included screws with the case to mount the fans. The fans only we're mounted to the top screw holes on each fan and hang down while in the case and line up with the case side vents. I am very pleased with this case and love the little Asrock B450 ITX board with Ryzen 5 3400G. I used an Intel 660P 1 TB NVME and the Team Group Vulcan memory used in the build you did. Great little machine.

Great little build. I love these low power SoC boards, I still have an ASRock 3150M mATX board running as an HTPC on an older 1080p TV and it works great for youtube, netflix etc. It also works great for emulation and older PC titles, even Tomb Raider 2013 runs at 30fps @720p low with high textures. Sure, it's no desktop substitute but for it's paltry 26w max draw at the wall it really is something special.

Additional information: You can get this case with pre drilled holes in the case top cover. That helps with ventilation if you have a 35w or 65w CPU with active cooling. There is also a silver version of this case. You have a 65mm and 80mm version depending on how high you want the case to be. It looks like you can also have 2x40mm 50mm or 60mm fans in the case. Also the MB supports HDCP 2.2 but it does not say what HDMI version is supports.

First: You are amazing, Mr. ETA Prime! It's like writing a wish into the comments and have a video in response a week later! Impressive! And very nice builds/ ideas! So, and now i'll watch the video! :) Edit: Still a bit pricey for a low end build, isnt it? I mean you end at around 250 bucks ... and the also pricey Lark Box Pro is quite near in performance. I think I'll go with a Ryzen 2200/ 2400 build. Maybe used. Maybe an Asrock A300 or I'll find some other tiny case. But that J5040 seems to be a good alternative!

I like to use 40mm variable-speed fans on systems like this. At lowest speeds they can be effectively silent, yet still noticeably reduce temperatures compared to a purely passive solution. I also like to use motherboards with external 12V input, like many Jetway models. They tend to cost more, but this is somewhat countered by eliminating the cost of a PicoPSU. They also often utilize full-sized DIMMs instead, which can provide significant savings at times.

I run an ASROCK X300 with a 4750G. If you choose power saver, it usually uses between 7 and 15W and you can't hear the fan on the heatsink. Temps never really break 50. There's also the PN50. Never understood why there is a green cable for ground in those pico (atx-dc) power supplies. Isn't the 24-pin ATX connector already grounded in like 8 of its connections. If attaching the green cable to one of the motherboard' screws then most probably it is grounded to the same ground as the ATX connector. You can test continuity with a multimeter. Can someone provide more info please? Thx

@holgerwikingsen713 3 года назад
@@Azlehria Thank you for your feedback. The word "safety" (ground) made me rethink the purpose of the green cable. You are correct, it totally makes sense, the green cable should act as a dedicated safety line without having to route electricity through more "sensible operational ground trails", at least this is how I see it now. This could be critical to an electronic such as a PC motherboard. I just ordered an ATX-DC power supply. It should arrive in a couple of weeks and then I'll be able to experience it by myself. Take care, thanks again, bye.
