Thanks for sharing- this is great. I recently bought the older blue tool (sorry don’t remember the name of it) for finer details. Haven’t used it yet but I’m wondering if I should buy this punch tool as well? Any insight is appreciated.

The Curio 2 was not designed for using the older tools for the Curio 1. Doing so can void the machine warranty, and Silhouette can not support that. There are people doing it and advising others to do it, but the bottom line is that those users won't replace your machine if something happens to it. silhouetteamerica.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/35000227669-silhouette-curio-overview It's an expensive machine to gamble with, and I do not advise or recommend users on anything that can void the warranty or cause them future problems getting help. If you choose to do so, it is the user who assumes 100% of the risk.

I really hope that eventually they come out with a fine point for etching. Do you think I can cut Mylar stencil material on the Curio 2? That is what I want to do most with it. I have a Siser Romeo for vinyl. If i sign up for your paid course can I learn how to do cut stencils?@@SilhouetteSecrets

Curio2: does this mean this machine cannot achieve detailed etching, engraving etc? I understood with the power etc of this new curio2 with the specialty tools for the curio2, we would be able to achieve far better results. Silhouette going to create better software and (tools at no added charge for those of us that bought when first available?) the thickness allowances is sort of useless without needed changes to achieve what we, their customers expected. Appreciate your HONESTY…

Well, this is detailed etching. It's just not the same as the older Curio 1. Different machine = different results. The power of the Tool 2 housing is actually what I think makes the biggest difference. It was designed for higher force by user requests and that affects how it functions, moves, and the results. Does it etch fine detail? Yes, it can.... just not the same as the previous model.

@@SilhouetteSecrets I understood we were buying / upgrading to better quality / results based on info given when both machines were shared by silhouette. BUT, Based on what I’ve seen by knowledgeable RU-vidrs like yourself that’s not true. I’ve wondered why Very Little Content has been put out for the curio2, not even my many ordinary crafters, this appears to be why. We couldn’t afford a machine that pretty much sets there looking impressive. This type of quality will shove a lot of folks trying to flee C right back to them. Come on silhouette, Give us what we paid for, what we expected based on the information you provided. Makes me want to send Curio2 Back. I’ve tried 2 very simple tasks which out of the box failed because appears mine needs to be calibrated, (haven’t done yet , waiting on more videos showing the curio2 can do as represented. Oh the other hand, the cameo 5 has been a charm to use; But we also needed to do what was advertised / represented the curio could do for the many crafters…

@@darleneroach2848 I've done lots with the Curio 2 in a short amount of time and have very in-depth classes with it that go into several projects with it. silhouette-secrets.teachable.com/courses/ I don't think you are going to see massive content put out on this machine by the masses for 2 reasons.... 1. There has never been a huge Curio following. It takes time and patience to learn and not everyone is willing to do that. Just like the Curio 1. Even within the Silhouette "influencers" that have been doing this for years, several despised the Curio because they found it to complicated and wasn't a money maker for them. 2. The majority of "content creators" are doing it for the views and if you watch their content closely, you will see that. They aren't focused on just one thing or even one avenue.... but it's about what's popular and what is making them the most money, either by affiliate money or money off views and time watched. And there is a lot of wrong information out there already regarding this machine. Some even claiming they are an expert when they've never even done something and are doing it first time on camera for a video. I can't share photos here, but I have lots of projects so far with the Curio 2 that I've shared on the Silhouette Secrets+ Facebook Page. I am really disappointed! The curio 1 is GREAT at etching, I was expecting the same quality! So glad I did not buy the 2! What was silhouette thinking??

Seriously, what can you do with this machine - a list- that you can’t do with the silhouette 5 and curio 1??? I can’t think if anything I LOVE silhouette, between my daughter and I we have seven machines!! I just think the curio 2 is a dud It happens ☺️

The Power Engraver, the Leather Punch Tool (not real leather), etching on acrylics, and any project that is thicker than 3 mm.... the Curio 2 has a clearance of 20 mm. It was too much for the housing.
