While Silicone Spray has been used successfully on chutes for mail, plastic containers, and boxes, it has not been used in an application like this. It will definitely reduce the friction, but we don’t know if it would be enough of a reduction to allow for a heavy metal on metal object to slide easily. Hi Mrku, no we do not recommend using our Silicone Spray Aerosol to soften hardened rubber outsoles. This product is made to lower the coefficient of friction and to prevent corrosion. Applying this to shoe outsoles could result in decreased traction increasing the risk for slips and falls. Yes, Silicone Spray Aerosol is an excellent product for that application. It is easy to apply and adheres well to metal surfaces. It leaves a waterproof, non-stick coating to help prevent snow from sticking to snowblowers.

From their literature, WD-40 is a petroleum distillate-based product used as a penetrating lubricant. If you have stuck bolts or other parts, WD-40, since it is formulated to be a penetrant, will do a better job of loosening those bolts and parts. Our Silicone Spray is a silicone based lubricant and waterproof coating. When it comes to lubricating, Silicone Spray wins out. It lubricates without an oily film. This allows it to be used on a wide variety of surfaces without staining, including glass, rubber, metal, and plastics. It even can be used to lubricate conveyors and chutes to help cardboard boxes slide easier without causing an oily mess. Silicone Spray also forms a non-stick, waterproof film on surfaces. For example, snow plow blades can be coated to prevent snow build up. As a waterproofing compound, tents and shoes can be coated to prevent water from entering. While both products have their place, Silicone Spray offers a greater range of applications.

WD-40 it's oil blend formula dissolved on solved like kerosene but in the spray version the solvent it's a propellant ,once dry both leave an oily surface and water repellent property but only as long as the surface retain the oil ....with silicon you get a hella thick not stick neither frictional surface as the demonstration where even rubber gets soaked in the product, definitely silicon will last 30x more than oily WD40

Fairus, thanks for your question! We would not recommend using Silicone Spray Aerosol on tires. This aerosol is specifically designed to reduce the friction of a surface to prevent sticking or jamming, however if this were to be applied on tires, especially the tread portion, it would result in decreased traction between the tire and the road. We do have tire dressing products which can be applied to the face of a tire some of which do have silicone components designed to give tires a shining or wet look, however likewise these cannot be applied to the treads. Great question. Silicone Spray Aerosol is not ideal for use on timing belts and pulleys. It is a very good lubricant, so it will likely cause the belt to start slipping. Instead we sell a Belt Dressing Aerosol for that application. Silicone Spray Aerosol can be used on rubber gym plates. When used, it can improve the appearance of the plates, keep them from sticking together, and help them resist soiling. While Silicone Spray Aerosol is compatible with a great many rubbers and elastomers, if you have any question about the compatibility of the product with your specific application, test a small amount in an inconspicuous place and look for a reaction.
