Please SUBSCRIBE! 3rd Ep. in rehab project. In this episode I will show you how I sister floor joists and install a new sill plate in a crawlspace, due excess rot. My favorite type of jack to use when lifting floor joist is linked below, which is much better than the bottle jacks used in the video. Look for future videos of me using this type of jack to install steel I beams to straighten a bowing basement wall.

Thanks for the encouragement. This property had a lot more rot than I was expecting. I do work for a few other landlords in my area.

Great. Good luck on your repair. Sometimes I find that the bathroom tub surround is leaking causing sill plate and floor joist damage. Just a tip. Thanks for watching.

Hey I had a lot of termite damaged plate and main beam in my house. Those termites can eat plenty of wood. Excellent video

Code around my area requires sister boards to go to the nearest cross support or the full length.

Does it matter how far over you cut I notice in this particular video you didn't butt the two boards half way between the joist.

hello! How much were the new pieces of wood (joists) im hesitant to replace mine even though im handy because i live in my rental property lol but also just bout it

jade hey. I’m not for sure but around $10 for the 2x8x12 floor joist and a little more for the treated 2x8x12 that goes on top of the block foundation. Unfortunately, with COVID the price of wood has skyrocketed in my area.

@@handylandlord dang are you in the Midwest?! Thanks! Since we are heading into winter it probably would be best to hire somebody i guess instead of trying this out lol but it sounds WAAAY less expensive if you DIY
