I just bought a lightly used Silverado 2500HD 6.0ltr , 2019 with 20k miles on it... this channel has cost me a small fortune already and I’ve only had the truck a little over a month hahaha.... Thanks for all the info and parts information.... The places where you order your parts from should offer a discount code... When I bought the truck I promised myself that I wouldn’t change or add anything to it because it already had everything I need basically.... who was I kidding 😎😬🇺🇸
Ya they look awesome for about 5 minutes. If you're going to plow all night your vision isn't going to last half way through. Stick the light on the roof (so it's not flashing in your line of sight) and watch where you're going.
@@mossman381 Not really. We got about 3" of snow a couple of weeks ago but I had to be out of town on a scheduled appointment. By the time I got back it had warmed up and was melting fast. They say we are going to get 1 to 3 inches of snow tonight. So maybe I'll get at least a plowable snow.
That license plate goes in front of the bracket, and you should alternate the whole light head on the rear. The half/half split pattern is not effective.
You just run power to the correct wires. One wire will be steady on white, and another wire will be flashing amber. One will override the other if they both get power at the same time. I think the white with override the amber.
very interested how those running board lights will last in the salty environment. I have a stainless blade also, do the grill lights bounce off the plow?
So am I. They have a 5 year warranty and STL has good people behind their products. That was one reason all the lights are on separate switches. I thought they might bounce off stuff and be annoying and I could shut some off. So far I turn them all on and they don't bother me.
I am not sure why I keep saying they are amber. They are actually 3000k on the light scale. Which is a yellow color. The camera turns them greenish for some reason.
amzn.to/3n85VBL Those are the two wire ones but they have just about anything you need and different wire gauges. I have been pretty happy with them. Give the wires a little tug to make sure they are seated good inside the plug and make sure you plug them in a few times before installing them to make sure the pins don't push back. Finally I fill them with dielectric grease when I plug them in for the final time.
Dad got that light locally after he lost my last two. This was the light I had. It wasn't as good as the previous light but it worked and was cheap. amzn.to/3aYmGgg
Hey wondering if you could help me or have any ideas . My 2002 2500 base Plow truck. Once in a while my battery light on the info center will come on . Then my gauges will drop. My seat belt light flashes witch my truck doesn’t have that and the security light goes on witch my truck doesn’t have. Then few seconds later everything will work as normal. Then maybe 5 min later it will happen again. Once my truck turned off. Then I can go hours and it will be fine. My batteries are new. I was thinking maybe alternator , it’s about 3-4 years old from the scrape yard 160amp
Check your battery voltage while it’s acting up. On the back side of the cab mount that’s under the drivers feet, there are 2 or 3 ground bolts depending on your trim level and options, remove them they are usually a 13 mm head and make sure they are clean, they get corroded and the truck does funny things ...
@@JohnDiMartino the battery gauge screws ups. Do you mean use a battery tester or a volt meter on the battery ? The 2 ground on the drivers side frame ? I cleaned those few years ago I can try it again
Just thought you might like to know since speed Tech sent you all that stuff for Free there is no warranty I am having problems with my light bar and they won't do anything because it is not warranted because it was gifted So if you ever have any problems with your lights they won't help you out
@@mossman381 Yeah I did and it's kind of doing the same thing again also can't change Flash patterns but went outside just little bit ago and it's working just fine I think there's a short in the PCB board or something but they told me that anything that is gifted for video review or anything has 0 warranty because we did not pay for it I want to pass that along view because I know they have sent you a bunch of stuff so anything That they sent you if you have a problem with it you will have to pay to have it fix which I think is stupid because we are getting them Sales They said it's against their policy to fix or warranty anything that is gifted I will be making a follow up video and it's not gonna be pretty about how I have had problems with this bar and I've also had problems with other stuff of theirs and I am not the only one that has had problems with stuff to some of my friends that have their stuff had problems with their stuff as well
Andrew has always been very helpful with any issues I have. Have you checked the plug that goes into your control box? I had the flash pattern wire pin push back on me once. I couldn't change patterns then found the pin on the connector had pushed back and wasn't making good contact. They did send you a free $300 light. If you end up having to pay some to fix it I don't see how you could be mad at them. If you are having the same exact problem then maybe it's just a $9 controller like before. Is your controller getting beat up? Mine and dads are fixed to the dash so they are flopping all over the floor.
I have a playlist of videos showing just about everything done to this truck. They are Patriot tires. Check out my videos for more info. I show rims, tires, backspacing, size, fitment, everything.
the lightbar that you mounted on top- are you using the cigarette plug? or did you hard wire it? if you used the cigarette plug were you able to snake the cigarette plug through the firewall, did it fit? i have the same light bar for one of my trucks and im trying to figure out if i want to hardwire it or run the cigarette plug up through the firewall.
I don't feel I need anymore strobes. I am going to convert my lightbar to Linear. I will do a video on that at some point. This setup really does everything I need it to an more.
@@mossman381 do u not like the tir and are u just going to get the lights and replace on the inside or get a whole new light bar cus I think the pcm on that bar will only work with tir u would have to replace the mother board to switch I think
@@TheNathan343 Dad has the same bar in Linear. When we are next to each other you can see his is brighter. It might not be brighter but with the linear optics it speads the light better. According to Andrew I can just change out the lights.
If you would like to hide any of these lights you can use some automotive grade spray tint on them. they use this technique on undercover vehicles to keep the lights stealth.
I agree with what some of the other comments have said... STL is junk, i am also in WI and i bought stl lights to use on a airport vehicle at the EAA airventure in oshkosh... they didnt even last 10 days of continuous use (10 hrs a day) I have tried it all... Whelen, code 3, sound off and feniex... so far feniex has been the brightest (in bright daylight) and still working 5 yrs after the first purchase. Let me know how they work out for ya, maybe their quality control has got better. Beautiful truck... now spend the coin on some better lighting.
@@mossman381 it took 3 months of fighting with them to honor the warranty, tried to say it wasn't a warranty issue that they cover (burned out, water inside the lense)... they ended up making me pay my own shipping to send it back for repair... waited another 3 months, they finally sent me a replacement. Thanks but no thanks... "You get what you pay for!"
That doesn't sound like STL to me. 3 months of fighting?? If you didn't pay much for the light why would you fight for 3 months? This story sounds fishy to me.
@@mossman381 STL is a joke, simple as that. They're not bright in direct sunlight, and you're gonna have issues with them. Water, moisture, etc are gonna get in and burn out the lights very quickly. Its a hit or miss, but 98% they're a miss.
They are not a joke. You are the joke wasting your time bashing a good company. I have been using STL for years with no issues so far. Even if I have an issue I know I can email or call and I will be helped by good people.
Listen you have a badass rig. But what I don't understand is. For someone that doesn't look like he is scraping together change to get by. Why you put a ton of labor into installing cheap imported lights that look bright upon install only at night. But will shit the bed I'd bet before you get one season of plowing under your belt. Didn't you just last season rave about another one of the companies importing crap equipment? I would much rather employ & support an American family by purchasing equipment not floated accross the ocean that will not only perform, but perform for years to come. I still cannot make sense of yall STL fan boys. The only thing I can think of is your like my grandparents that lived through the depression. The simple fact that always proves true is what my father taught me when I was 10. "You get what you pay for"!
STL is not junk. They have good lights at good prices and good people behind them. I have been running the STL lights for years. They have a 5 year warranty just like your beloved Whelen. There are many americans working at STL in Texas. I just watched a video of a Whelen light during the day for twice the price. Not impressed.
