Silverado CV Axle Full Install 99-07 

Thank you for this, I did my turbo on my 05 silverado, watching you, now I have to do both of my CV shafts, torn boot on left, and hearing crunching and cherping on the driver side

I want thank you, for the information and instructions you shared. I have 97 Chevy K1500 4x4. I hit a dip and the driver side CV Axle Boot tore. My CV Axle ended in to pieces. I was able to install my new CV Axle than 10 minutes. Thanks again.

Good videos. You always seem to pop up when I look up maintenance or repair work. A few things: 1) as other have mentioned, make sure to torque that nut to spec or you'll wear out the wheel bearing. When I did the wheel bearings for both sides the video I extracted information from instructed to use red loctite. 2) I've gone away from reman'ed parts myself; I've had to do the same job twice because of reman'ed, so I buy only new. 3) Lesson's learned on the wheel bearing job--use impact rated 6point sockets only. I broke three chrome sockets during removal. Anyway, you've probably done complete overhaul on your LBZ by now---I'm glad to see that I don't have to remove a lot during this job, thanks for the videos, they really help.

Thanks to your video I was able to replace the CV axle on my '03 Silverado without removing the tire! Although I did remove and replace the sway bar link. I noticed that your lower A-arm is different than the one my truck. My lower A-arm has like a cross brace that's why I had to remove the sway bar link to remove the axle. Awesome video!!!!

A couple of questions in regards to my 2008 Duramax HD 4x4 Long bed . I have to replace the cv shaft , it should be the same as the 2007 ? If I plan on doing Hot Shot is their a higher grade for the cv joints that I should look for ? ¿ Are ya in a Cav unit or Helo unit cause your wearing Flight gloves , well what’s left of them ? I was in 2/3 ACR way back in the day . Enjoying your videos .

Did you have to use an extended shaft? Since it’s lifted. Or can I just use a regular one also. Mines lifted 6 inches also

Sorry for the noob question, but did your lift not come with spacers for the CV axle, or are they not required in some cases? Also, I have a 4inch lift on mine, but I keep blowing the boot about every 3 months. Ate the special CV axles for lifted trucks? Thank you in advance.

No tongue wrench on the wheel nut will wreck your wheel bearing over time. Mine was and had to replace cv because it was cross threaded by air gunning it on like this

How did you know yours was going out or was it just the busted boot???

It's easier to do if you remove the wheel and use a long extension on your impact. (no time spent on your back)

Thanks. Are the CV axles different on the 07-10 LMM? I thought 01-10 was all the same. If the boot wasn't torn, would you have replaced them? How can you tell if your CV axles are bad?

Driver side much different from passenger side? I watched people taking wheel off but I can’t remember if my dust cover is still on. Also one video removed bottom shock bolt and another the sway bar bolt. To get those out of the way to get it out. I’ll try it first before removing any more bolts then I have to. $60 I wish. Was $130 for mine. 2007 Silverado 2500HD classic. Video is four years old so maybe went up but over double seems exorbitant.

Was the CV axle making noise, if so what kind of noise? I’m having an issue with an intermittent whining noise on the passenger side. Wheel bearing has already been replaced.

great video bud. it might be because your truck is lifted that you can get your cv shaft in and out without removing the sway bar link. not sure, but I definitely had to remove mine. absolutely could not happen if I didn't. great job though.

I Lowe your truck it is so cool! What size lift and tires do you have on it? What year is your truck, I'm sure it's newer than mine. I got a 2003 2500HD Red Chevy 4 door short bed with a 6 inch lift and 20 inch Speedline wheels and 37 inch Ironman tires with a Durumax diesel, she is my dream truck. I named her Big Red lol! I got a 2003 for two reasons, one because I got a good deal on it and I can take the money I saved buying her to put lots of sweet parts on her and she is on her way to getting loaded up with performance parts! Two because I love the bodystyle and 2003 was the last year they made before they started putting all the emissions shit on them like the EGR emissions started requiring things like a catalytic converter and stuff among other things so I don't require any of that stuff. As far as some performance parts go I have a lot of Edge products on her like a super programmable Edge CTS2 Juice Attitude Power Porogrammer Module, a 4 inch stainless steel Edge Jammer Exhaust System with a 4 inch polished stainless tip and it even has a polished stainless muffler! She also has an Edge Jammer Air Intake System amd all my Edge work great together. I also have an Edge ampd throttle sensitivity booster module Control unit coming in a few days which will increase pedal response and reduce my acceleration lag plus build my turbo boost more quickly. I also have lots of other performance parts. It seems like these days everyone has round halo lights now so I got some headlights with u-shaped halos and some sweet custom turn signals and fog lights along with some black smoked tail lights and an under tailgate LED light bar. Of course she also has a black billet aluminum chevy emblem plus a black billet aluminum fuel door too An AFE Power rear diff. A really nice spray in bed liner retractable bed hooks in the side rails of tj and inside the bed, they are something small but really cool and functional. I just got some new monotube Pro Comp shocks and some I have some Kryptonite tie rods coming soon to replace the pitiful stock tie rods. I also have some sweet gloss black Westin 4 inch GenX step bars I just still need to put on. She has a loaded LT interior with all the bells and whistles and also has a 7 inch touch screen stereo with a backup camera and two 10 inch subs and soon I plan on getting new component speakers and an amp for too. Plus to show my Chevy pride I have a sweet Chevy decal in the back window. I also have some other small things like a smoked front hood guard, widow deflectors and front tinted windows to match the back. That's just the beginning, next I'll be upgrading my steering and suspension system. Hopefully I'll aslo be getting a lift pump and possibly new injectors so that I can run more fuel to my engine so that I can turn my chip up to level 5 without damging the engine. I'd also like to get a turbo piping system like you have. If I can afford it I'd like to get a performance turbo and transmission too!. Plus a light bar hidden behind the grill and a lot more things too. Sorry to go on and on about all I have on her so far it's just that seeing trucks like yours with all the really cool stuff on them inspires me to make Big Red better and gives me ideas on what I can put on her so thank you for that! Man I go through cv axles, sway bar end links, and ujoints each year it seems. I replace the ball joints every 3-4 years

How many bolts does your cv axle have? Trying to order and there is an oem one with 8 holes. And an aftermarket one with 6 and circular not botched like yours. Granted mine is a 2016 duramax. Just odd. Nice video man.

That angle looks drastic! You will go through lots of cv's and destroy your diff in the process. Not to mention I hope you re-geared your gear ratios to match your tire size. You want enough ride hight to fit your tires and provide enough lift to keep your torsion down to a minimum so as to flatten the angle of the cv.

Buddy... love how the build is coming along..... but, with all the money spent... DO NOT SELL... after it's all done. Also look into getting undercoating done and adding some AMP power steps.

You can buy just a replacement boot to install while the CV Joint is still on the truck.
