How To Replace Duramax Front CV Axle In 10 Minutes! Fast & Easy 

Well this was easy. So easy I took lots of time to get rid of more rust 😂

Changed one of these on my 2003 about 7 years ago. I had to beat the crap out of it to get it to release from the spindle. When I reinstalled it I put a small amount of anti-seize on the splines. One medium whack with a hammer and it came out this time. Boot busted spewing grease all over the wheel well this time. Good idea to paint it, looks great.

first thing i did wen i got my black duramax was painted my frame flat black and cleaned off the rust. looks so much better cleaned up

I used to pull calipers and top Ball joint..glad I tuned in. this was a wiz.. even in 20 degree weather. took me about 45 min ciz I kept stoping to warm my hands.. I'll have to see what other tricks he has.

9 mins, 30secs. Unreal. I was about to take tire and bearing and everything off. I jumped on to make sure there wasn't an easier way. Can't thank you guys enough. BTW, mines lifted as well which I think makes a bit easier

What made you want to replace the cv axle? Same truck and it clicks while shifting under heavy acceleration and when turning.

Your truck has lift a little more work without lift need to remove stabalizer link and upper ball joint

Can you use the normal cv axle? Or did you have to order special ones for the lift?

Loved the video but my only issue is that i just tried it on my 08 duramax stock height and it hits my shock and i believe its a sawy bark link as well so no way to get it passed them

Only thing missing was sizes for everything else. You want people to buy stuff through your links, well link that 1/2" extension bar you used.. anything and everything. Weekly mechanic like myself trust I can get the job done with help from videos like yours. But I def do not know the sizes of a lot of parts on my truck. Quickly mention little things like that would really help out a weekend mechanic like most of us are.

The older trucks are a 36mm while the newer 2011+ its a 34mm

34mm works, but it is actually a 33mm. The 33mm is tight, but it goes on. You can also use a 1 5/16 (inch and five sixteenths).

There's videos that say you should remove the struts and or upper control arm. Would you say its easier because your truck is lifted and the suspension gives you more room to work? I have a 2012 Sierra 1500 with a lift so I didn't know if its easier because of that.
