I posted this link 10 years ago on my FB and I just seen it in my memories. Now that Chester is gone too is sad but he covered this song SOOO WELL, it was like hearing and seeing Scott sing it over again

This is one of the most unbelievable performances I've ever heard Chester singing Scott Weiland's song and just the fact that these guys are two of the greatest singers

I had never listened to anyone besides Scott singing STP tracks, but I liked this. I always enjoyed Chester's vocals but checked this out just looking for live versions of this beautiful song. So many great voices lost in rock. 😔

Chester has a smoother voice. I think he has more range than Scott. Scott has a bit more growl with his voice. They both sing this well, first time listening to Chester sing STP & he definitely does a great job. I think he could put a little more into it like he does his own songs. I bet he could sound even better.

Scott was unique for sure. It’s funny this was 6 yrs ago. Everyone comments Chester did good but he’s no Scott, no one will ever be... fast forward 6 yrs and they found a pretty good Scott!!!

Let’s be honest. While Chester did a great job singing, I get an uneasy feeling watching him sing Scott’s words with such passion. And make no mistake, Scott was a true poet. No one can deny STP’s song lyrics were ever straightforward and they truly came from the unique mind of Scott. I guess I can’t fathom why Chester would sing for STP when he had his own very accomplished career where he was able to passionately sing his OWN WORDS. I guess I’d just feel fake being up there. It’s like if someone asked me to make a passionate speech they wrote and pretend it came from me. It just doesn’t look or feel right

I feel that Chester is trying too hard to sound like Scott...he should loosen up and be himself. He's a good vocalist in his own right.

Chester seemed to struggle with Linkin Park live vocals; I think it has to do with certain elements of true and falsetto range the man had a good voice both ways I have a decent singing voice however take me out of; car(compression) headphones (dampening) or quiet room put Me up against 70k screaming fans I've blown my voice out mis understanding my relationship with the microphone: the live LP I've seen Chester is always forced out of range by the noise his in studio true and falsetto are great but his falsetto was useless against the noise of roaring crowds I also know something about loving Scott weiland and what his voice did to ALL OF US Chester was so humbled to have been in that position I see this footage years layer and cannot belive number 1 he's dead and 2 that he got to front STP where he's seemingly ij a better position to adjust to Scotts vocal he killed this song he absolutely killed it unbelievably perfect vocal

Chester's voice sounds fine, but collectively the entire band slowed the song down too much. That's what's sounding funky...cheers to him for picking up the ball where Scott dropped it. And prayers to Scott he cleans up and returns to form.

Chester always seemed like a good rock singer to me, and even to shout in more metal records, but in a band as commercial and vulgar as linkin park he didn't do him justice.

It's not completely horrible, although he totally falls apart towards the end, almost to the point of painful. The ending requires a lot more energy, and he's totally burnt by that point, which is too bad, because he does a pretty job with most of the song. This is one of my favorite STP songs (how many songs of theirs do I say that about? - too many!), but even Scott struggled with this song live, but I never heard him mess it up that badly, and Chester is no Scott. Sadly, by the end of his life, Scott was barely Scott. Shame he couldn't stay away from the booze and nose candy, but amazing he got off heroin, and survived as long as he did. Such a painful loss. If you saw that nasty interview that STP w/o Scott did with Chester after they gave Scott the boot, I can understand the animosity, but I can't help but think that was totally "unnecessary roughness," and probably hurt Scott deeply. Not saying he didn't deserve it. Maybe helped send him down his final slide, or maybe it was just his time. After all, he was going to do a solo gig, playing all STP songs without STP, but it was just another moment of weakness for Scott, more than a rip-off of his old bandmates, whom he was planning to rejoin, but the solo thing was the proverbial last straw. Sadly, I think it probably hastened his demise, especially that little parting stab from STP and Chester. If he heard this attempt of Chester to cover his song, I'm sure he at least got one last laugh. RIP, Scott (and STP - there is no STP w/o Scott Weiland, IMHO). Perhaps if Chester takes a couple of years and really learns those STP songs, he could cover them better, but without Scott, they're just a really good cover band, with a semi-decent singer.
