Are the two mounting holes on the 140s for 140 and 120mm mounting?
@Silverstonetech

No, the mounting holes on the 140s are for 139mm and 140mm mountings, these are the two most common mounting holes for that size class.

@SilverStone Technology Alright, also, i know this should probably go through ur support, but I first want to make sure if it's abnormal or not. Basically, I have noticed a thin even strip of what seems to be fan bearing fluid across all 3 of the inner rims of these fans. Is this just excessive fluid or an actual leak? Is it an issue regardless, or only if it returns after being cleaned again? I'm unsure of how long it's been there, but the fans are only a couple of months old

Any bearing issues over long term use while mounted horizontal and vertical mounting, 120 and 140mm?

No, these fans have genuine fluid dynamic bear (FDB) so they will operate just fine in either orientations.

Is there an updated Shark Force fans that improves static pressure, fan blade design, and cfm while being just as quiet as the Noctua NF-A12x25 in the works? Would be great to increase the 1 year standard warranty to 3 or more years to be inline with other manufactures with similar fans specs.
@Silverstonetech
@Silverstonetech Год назад
We are unable to comment on unreleased products or products from other manufacturers that we have not tested ourselves. The Shark Force fans were just introduced within a year and are currently among the best when it comes to noise/performance ratio compared to same sized fans on the market.
@linndoria
@linndoria Год назад
@SilverStone Technology Would you say that setting the fan curve in BIOS under 76 or 80% to the best for low noise, performance, and static pressure?
@Silverstonetech
@Silverstonetech Год назад
@@linndoria Noise is subjective and what is perceived as acceptable performance could vary from person to person as well. So the best way is to try and experiment what works best for you in your system. We've implemented a wide RPM range into the Shark Force fans so that users can more easily find the most optimum fan speed for their needs and application.
@Frozoken
@Frozoken Год назад
@@linndoria Bro ur expecting a quiet fan a 2000rpm ffs 😭. Watch a noctu nfa12 sound test, they are also loud as shit at 2000rpm and push less air too. These fans are good, just make sure ur using anti vibration pads if ur attaching them to a cheap case.
@Frozoken
@Frozoken Год назад
@@linndoria Oh yeah and just so you know the phanteks t30 obliterates the nfa12 in both max, and noise normalised performance. Yet despite the t30 being thicker than the sf120 which increases static pressure massively, the t30 only matches the pressure of the sf120 at 2700rpm. Like these have rgb, are cheaper, thinner and are still outperforming the fan that crushes the noctua, what more do you want 😂? Like tbf I'm sure the silverstones are louder at equal rpm but they can run slower at the same performance. If silverstone does manage to find away to make these a bit quieter, they'd unequivocally be the best fan period. So underrated as is tbh.

Hi, Silverstone. Your site says the Alta F1 can be fitted with two Shark Force 160 mm fans as intake on the bottom, yet it doesn't state whether these can fit above or below the steel railing plate. I'm very sad that my black Alta F1 can't fit two AP183s in the same position that the 3 factory-installed AP140s occupy on the UPPER side of the bottom intake steel mounting plate. The only way two 180mm fans could fit as intake in the Alta F1 is by installing them on the LOWER side of the bottom intake steel fan-mounting plate, which sadly reduces overall intake area and also looks very unappealing. For this reason, I've had to use my own Alta F1 with three 140mm Air Penetrators as intake on the bottom, even though I dislike them and originally desired 180mm fans for this build. After seeing this video, I'm now very intrigued about whether this whole bottom-intake-mounting-space problem could be solved with these non-standard 160mm fans installed on the UPPER side of the bottom intake mounting plate just like the AP140s can be. Please let me know whether my black Alta F1 could fit two non-RGB, regular black Shark Force 160mm fans on the upper side of the bottom mounting plate just like the three AP140s are out-of-the-box. If not, then that means they're just as useless as the AP184s are because they can only reduce intake area and ruin the Alta F1's appearance and even efficiency; since 3x AP140 are more efficient than 2x AP184 as regards the Alta F1. Is it possible to outperform 3x AP140s with 2x SF160s as regards Alta F1's intake? Also, when will retailers such as CaseKing have access to the non-RGB Shark Force 160? I can't find it listed anywhere. Thank you for your time. Please help me improve my Alta F1's cooling ability.
@Silverstonetech
@Silverstonetech Год назад
Two Shark Force 160 can be fitted as intakes for the bottom of ALTA F1 above the steel railing plate (upper side), just like the three Air Penetrator 140 fans out of the box. However, depending on your system configuration, the original 3 x AP140 configuration may still outperform 2 x SF160 at the same RPM/fan speed. The reason for this is because three 140mm fan's overall length (420mm) can give wider spread of airflow to your system and seal off gaps on the bottom intake. With two 160mm fans having the overall length of just 320mm, they may cool one area (e.g. CPU or GPU) better while sacrificing the other and leave a gap for air to recirculate on the bottom intake area. If you do decide to give the two Shark Force 160 a try in your ALTA F1, be sure to seal off the remaining gap on the bottom steel railing plate for best result. The non-ARGB, regular black Shark Force 160's first shipment is scheduled to arrive in our European office in the middle of October, so you should see it up for sale at CaseKing by the end of the month. If you have more questions, feel free to write to us directly too: www.silverstonetek.com/en/contact/

@@Silverstonetech I'm very pleased with your response. Thank you. I would also like to ask about comparable noise levels between my 3x 140i-ARGB vs 2x SF160. I want to run my system below 500 RPM while idling and surfing the internet and only the SF160 will provide this since the AP140s are set to 500 RPM as the lowest possible speed. Will the Shark Force 160s be quieter during IDLE compared to the Air Penetrators? In general - would you say that the Shark Force 160 is suitable for 0 decibel systems during idle and maybe light Photoshop work? I've read reviews that the AP184i has an audible motor clicking noise even during the lowest RPM. Is the SF160's motor free of this noisy, clicky issue? And, lastly - do you think that fitting my Alta F1 with 4x Shark Force 160s (2 intake on the bottom and 2 exhaust on the top) is a good idea in terms of noise, dust-accumulation-rate and cooling efficiency? Oh, and I almost forgot - would it be possible space-wise to install 2x SF160 + 1x AP120 all three right next to each other on the upper side of the intake railing? Again, thank you so much for your time. Can't wait to fit my silent build black Alta F1 with four of these 160 beasts. They seem very interesting.
@Silverstonetech
@Silverstonetech Год назад
@@austinreeds1361 The SF160 has advanced PWM IC that allows for nearly any speeds down to 0 rpm, so yes, you can adjust/tune it to be quieter than the AP140's for sure. However, please keep in mind that you will lose significant amount of airflow as you slow the fan down so while you can make them quieter, they will also perform worse as a result. There were some defective AP184i from the first batch which resulted in noticeable ticking noise at low speed, those issues have been resolved and should not be present on any of our other fans. And sorry, we are unable to tell you how well your system configuration will work with different combinations of fans, there is just too many variables. You may be able to squeeze a 120mm fan alongside two SF160 at the bottom of ALTA F1, but the mounting holes won't lined up though. Lastly, for faster responses to your technical questions, please write to us directly at our contact us page!

@@Silverstonetech Dear Silverstone staff, thank you for another great response. I will trouble you with one single last request/question: Would you please be so kind as to verify first-hand from your colleagues that have an Alta F1 and two SF160s at hand, whether 2 x SF160 + 1 x SF120 would fit the upper side of the steel railing plate on the Alta F1's intake. I know you said that possibly the mounting holes wouldn't line up for the remaining SF120, yet if it physically fits alongside the two SF160s, then perhaps even without properly fitting mounting holes the SF120 could somehow be mounted by securing it with elastic strings or some "mod" of the sort? I am absolutely desperate to turn my black Alta F1 into a 100% truly silent build with the two SF160s, but I also absolutely want THREE fans on the bottom intake to close the hole. I want 2 x 160 + 1 x 120 even if it would potentially mean installing the SF120 on the LOWER side of the bottom intake steel railing plate (with the two SF160's still being ABOVE the bottom intake railing). Please let me know what maneuver I could potentially pull of to end up with a 160 + 160 + 120 fan combo for the Alta F1's bottom intake. Thank you so much for your time.

@@austinreeds1361 Hi Austin, in the future for quicker response on your technical questions, we still recommend that you write to our support directly at support@silverstonetek.com As to your last question, the SF120 can fit alongside two SF160 in the ALTA F1's upper side of the bottom railing plate. But it is very tight and you will not be able to use any existing mounting holes for the SF120. Again, not recommended!
