@@DjTittySprinklez a straight and sturdy shaft that's not held by a clamp and won't randomly pop off or disconnect (CSL DDs do not have a straight shaft). It actually is capable of outputting 13nm of torque instead of 10nm, so the difference in details is very noticeable. I do not know why they underreport the torque on their bases. For example, the 15nm Alpha actually is able to give 18nm of torque. The motor does not have weird grainy vibrations, the QR does not clunk or rattle; there's absolutely no play between it and the shaft. The wheels are amazing, but they don't have low budget options. However, if you buy a Fanatec GT3 wheel, a metal QR and upgrade the shifter paddles, you will get close to the Simagic wheel prices but it will still be plastic instead of alluminium and carbon fiber. It just shits on the CSL DD in every aspect IMHO
@@JohnnyEMatos hmm I see. I'll keep that in mind. Only reason I bought a DD Pro was because Gran Turismo is the main sim racer I play. Soon as they drop it on PC I'll grab a Alpha Mini, Cammus, or a Moza R9.
FYI for anybody curious. Simagic under-rates their peak torque. The mini has more like 13-14Nm of torque and ~10Nm of holding torque. The mini punches WELL above it's weight class and is arguably the best value DD on the market in it's torque class.
They don't necessarily under rate peak torque, they just state the holding torque unlike others that advertise peak torque to make you think it's more powerful than it really is@@GiosSimCorner
@GiosSimCorner They just have a different way of classifying the torque. Actually the better way in my opinion. Holding torque is more important than peak.
Another very detailed review, I think that you answered just about every question that I might have had about that wheelbase. Keep up the great work buddy.
I've own a Alpha Mini and a GT1-R wheel for about 3 months now, and I can honestly say it exceeded all of my expectations. The built quality is superb. It is a solid beast. The wheel feels great, and is stupid high quality. I stepped up from a Logi G920 setup and couldn't be happier. Matched with Simforge Mk1 Pedals and a VNM Shifter, and I have a setup I can see lasting me for years.
Good to hear, I'm in the same boating looking at the FX wheel though. How are you finding the pedals? I could stretch to the Heu Sprints but don't see the point if Simforge provide exactly the same. Thanks!
thanks for this comment, hopefully you don't work for Sim Magic! i think im going to pull the trigger on the alpha mini cause the logi as great as its been needs an upgrade!
This is one of the best reviews I’ve ever experienced. Anytime I saw a small detail I was interested in knowing it was practically the next thing you covered.
I’ve been running at mini for months now and love it. Especially after using a g29. Glad you didn’t do your impressions of a “drifter” in this video. I took offense to that. Haha.
Seeing the timestamp "the bad" taking the whole end of the video, I was fearing the worst (after my Alpha Mini arrived yesterday that is ^^), but phew... Guess it really was the right choice after all. :D Just waiting for my pedals to arrive now and I guess I will finally have my first direct drive experience. :)
This is all the power anybody really needs and its been tested to reach 13.5nm not 10nm so thats a plus its why it feels so strong for what it is lol. I also believe that simagic has more slew rate then everyone else besides the dd+ now because its speed is unreal there isnt a better drifter on the market.
A big question here: did you ever manage to make the Simagic Alpha Mini work in Project cars 2 or Automobilista 2? It never works for me. Very difficult to even assign and calibrate, have to reduce the rotation to tiny angles. But even after that, in game there is 0 movement from the wheel. All the buttons are recognized, even axis of the paddles, but not the rotational axis. Tried with all settings I could on the Simagic software and in game, same result in both of those games.
In the software, turn the wheel in "Compatibility mode" and calibrate it then launch the game. If it's still not OK, stay in compatibility mode and configure your wheel as a joystick in Steam (plenty of video on that)
Some say Simagic are better than Moza, but you wouldn't be dissapointed with both options. Just to make sure that, if you buy those from local distributors, a warranty would be nice to have
See a few reviews of this wheelbase, my worry is that sticker on the back that says "made in China" is the engineering / build quality up there with the likes of German or British engineering? some reviews say the wheels are heavy? how many other wheel rims can you get or fit. great review..
Well Simagic, along with Moza and Cammus are Chinese company. They are basically Xiaomi/Oppo in sim racing. Chinese brands with high quality, especially considering the price
@@mArvAlcao71 I have actually got myself one now after looking at many reviews and especially the one from Sim Racing Garage where the wheelbase is stripped down and rebuilt. i went for the Alpha because its the happy medium and glad i did. also what i was sold on was the new GTS wheel rim as it 300mm round wheel. perfect as an all-rounder wheel. i can race any kind of car with this wheel option. really liking it so far. right now i am waiting for a Moza racing desk clamp / wheelbase mount, as apparently it has same hole alignment and looks much better than my old Fanatec one i have modified. i also had to order a new Potometer for my old Fanatec CSL pedals as the throttle pedal one is toast. this will do until the new Moza SR-P pedal arrives. then i will have a real mixed bag setup but glad to support the manufactures.
The Wireless will only work with Simagic wheels but if your wheel has a USB lead into your PC and the wheel has the correct quick release you will be fine.
Hi, i have GT4PRO and in the SimProManager only moves Clutch 2 bar. Clutch 1 doesn´t move. I press left Clutch and then in the software SimPro the Clutch 2 bar goes to 50% and when i press right clutch in the whell, then in clutch 2 bar that was at 50% goes to 100% But as i said, Clutch 1 in the SimPro doesn´t move. Notice also that Sync Button don´t appear in the Simpro.
didn't watch his review of the wheel but as far as I can tell they have 6 buttons and two rotary knobs... nothing else?!?! on moza CS wheel i have 10 buttons, 2 rotary knobs 2 directional D pads which are basically another 8-buttons. And almost all of them are mapped in asetto.
@@CSOCSO as someone who has tried both the alpha mini & r9 wheelbases (nothing long term, im gonna buy a simagic alpha eventually) the simagic is so much smoother & has more detail, to me at least.
This looks like a really nice wheel. But sorry win you said Ricmotech or what ever the name is I had to stop watching. They are a ripoff to Sim racers. They are what I call greedy. The prices they charge are probably the highest in industry. I was shopping during COVID and this company really had price inflation. Sorry fifty 8 year old person that still has the guts to call out wrong doings.
Figured no comment from channel..... Got to keep getting that free shit to review..... If going to do reviews , buy the shit so you can really help other.
It’s called supply and demand. If demand goes up so do prices. Stop whining about common business practices and bitching about a lack of response from a busy man that provides an extremely valuable service to the community. Until you release a better review on every wheelbase out there that you bought with your own money, stop complaining. Don’t expect more of others than you do of yourself. I would have though that “fifty 8” years of life would’ve taught you that already.
This is a nice little device but word of warning… this is a Chinese company with non-existent customer service in the traditional sense. Just something to think about before you empty ur wallet.
With that being said, if you order from their distributors you get great customer service through the distributors and also simagic if you use their discord
Nobody comments that the SimPro manager software is very incomplete, there is no way to save profiles in the internal memory of the wheelbase, before it was possible, so i feel more like a beta tester, and i dont like that after pay this much money to simagic
Who in their right mind would engineer a power button/switch on the power cable far from the wheelbase? And what's with the side connections on the wheelbase? Come on man!💆
