great review but i honestly would like more comparisons with other iems. also I just saw moondrop may is up for sale, so it may be better to hold off on purchases

Hopefully there will be no issues with condensation and moisture blocking filters caused by full metal build.

Good concise review! EW200 sounds like a refined C2 to me, by graphs they look similar but EW200's bass sounds slightly more impactful with better texture to me, also sorta smoother upper-mids. Unfortunately I still find upper-mids a bit hot from time to time so I usually listen in lower volume and that compromises a bit of vocal note weight. Still in this price range this one's really hard to beat with good build, cable, fit as you say unless one's super sensitive to upper-mids/treble. But then because of its quality so good, makes me wondering how much more need I pay for my ideal sound 😮‍💨

At this point I'd say around 200 dollars is the sweet spot for most tunings. Harman scoop you have the Chopin and Nova, depending on if you prefer sound or comfort, mild to fully V shaped you have plenty of options, and even nearly dead neutral you still have decent options like the Yume Ultra or a pre owned Blessing 2. Super close to top tier details wise while having good accessories, build and tunings.

@@kaeroseon Thanks, for Harman scoop tuning I was tempted to try Zero:Red but its thick nozzle put me off (Hexa's fit my limit), so I could only guess I might not like Harman scoop as it probably makes vocal sound too clean/thin for me? I like vocal with more low-end or organic sounding and punchy bass, but still maintain some technical things so that guitar/instrument can maintain its bite & sheen. I kinda guess Falcon Ultra might suit me but paying $200 up without demoing a bit too risky for me. Right now I have too many budget sets but I've got only one pair of ears.😆

@@QRR- Whats your favorite budget IEM right now then? Also the zero red is definitely not a Harman scoop, I'd say its more neutral with a slight sub bass boost. Harman scoop is more like the HBB Khan or Zero blue which is obviously not preferred by most as its very jarring with the shout and potential thinness. I'd say try the Zetian wu heyday, quintet or performer 5 are safe picks for around 200 dollars.

@@kaeroseon Yeah you're right, I almost forgot traditional Harman scoop is more aggresive as in OG blue Zero. 😆Let's see if there's some real budget one similar to Zero:Red for me to try. (wait way too many sets). Current favourite a bit hard to say, I like Hexa's vocal sorta natural presentation from mids to highs when matching with right eartips, but its bass quantity/quality is more limited to (usually modern) recordings with more low-end. Z300's vocal a bit organic for male vocal, but a tad too thick and extension much sacrificed esp for female vocal and most instruments (need to listen louder, but then lower-end becomes too prominent as it's not a technical one). Blon BL-05s's bass about on point and its vocal note weight, but its early peak in 2K makes vocal a bit too forward and shouty in a different way when compared to EW200's hot 5K area. For rock distortion guitar sounds, BL-05s has some muffled quality despite being not being a dark sounding IEM, EW200's better but a bit edgy and vocal note weight not as good as BL-05s. And if listening for long session with too many energetic songs, kinda give me a bit of tinnitus. Though they are both acceptable in lower volume listening. So in reality everything's not too bad, but finding some faults on them aren't really nitpicking either. Thanks for the recommendations, I was interested in Heyday too, though I think my major issue is limited chances to demo them. And also graph measurements really don't mean everything when it comes to personal fit and other psychoacoustic factors... I kinda bought EW200 to prove the idea how different C2 would sound, and it really digs this rabbit hole deeper.🤣

I'm interested in Zero 2 too... tech-wise it's never gonna be better but I'm just curious if tonally for me it'd be good/balance enough.😵‍💫And I'm really not an EQ guy.

Details comparison between these, the wan'er and the zero red? Im really hovering between these and the reds since these matches my preference better but the reds are said to be really good technicalities wise.
@sidesaladaudio
@sidesaladaudio 8 месяцев назад
Wan'er is warmer but also sounds a little more relaxed. Zero Red is still in a bit of its own class in terms of sound for the price, and the bass on the Zero Red is more defined and separated. My main issue with the Zero Red is the size and plastic build. It doesn't fit in my ear very comfortably, but sound wise, it is still the best in this range. The EW200 is more of a good balance of sound, build, and comfort altogether, but there are still others that I feel are a bit better in key areas

I happen to have all three of these IEMs. In overall sound quality the ew 200 is pretty much on the same level as wan'er - the build is way superior of course. The red has cleaner treble than both of the other ones and also a different tuning style for the bass. It has a low mid/bass-tuck wich make it sound more "clean" and the low bass stands out more - but it is not as lean/harsh sounding as something like moondrop variations.
@kaeroseon
@kaeroseon 8 месяцев назад
@@f0ggynights714 Makes sense. I tried the reds through EQ and really liked the 10 Ohm impedance version. The regular is a little too lean without enough subbass or upper mids boost to sound special compared to the Nova that I also tried through EQ. The regular zero blues were a tad too shouty while the Nova through EQ sounds just slightly under the too shouty mark. Would probably get the red and nova then.
@kaeroseon

@@sidesaladaudio I can definitely see why the reds are uncomfortable. Im pretty lucky as I find the zero blue to be pretty much perfectly comfortable with the right tips. My copy of the wan'er actually sounds pretty lean compared to my EW100P with surprisingly smooth treble so I'm really considering if its even worth getting the reds as a daily outside carry IEM.

Can you also review Hzsound Heart Mirror Zero? It a kind of cult following IEM, especially for trebleheads

How do you feel about the EW200 compared to the Z300?
@sidesaladaudio
@sidesaladaudio 8 месяцев назад
They're both quite similar for build and comfort. The Z300 also looks pretty cool. It is quite a bit warmer sounding though. It really comes down to your preference in tuning and looks.

It's a really good driver. More drivers doesn't mean better sound. It's all about the quality of the driver or drivers used.
@neandrewthal
@neandrewthal 8 месяцев назад
@@LuciferArc1 No, it's the quality of tuning you are able to achieve with whatever driver or drivers used and a single dynamic driver for full range has some hard limits. Whatever they can do with this driver for $40, someone else will do for $20.
@LuciferArc1
@LuciferArc1 8 месяцев назад
@neandrewthal it's both. Youre not gonna get ea500 sound quality out of a 20 dollar lcp driver iem. Let alone ea1000 sound quality
