Simms Wader and Simms wading boots are the very best available on the market. Vibram soles or Streamtread soles are a great improvement over felt in terms of reducing the spread of invasive species. Vibram Streamtread soles are easier to clean and offer less area for invasive species to get stuck and be moved from one drainage to another. Simms pro-active stance on Vibram or rubber soles led to their elimination of felt soled boot in their line up. Alaska will follow suit and not allow felt soled shoes to be worn for the 2012 season.

Great review thanks for the info. I hate slipping and falling down, I am installing them on my Headwaters boots.

Good products. Found that the studs sometimes come out so adding some adhesive before inserting the stud is a help. Wouldn't go without studs with this vibram sole shoe. Did once, and it was slippery. Have purchased snowmobile or atv tire traction screws, which you can buy by the hundreds for a very low price and they will perform similarly. I have this exact Simms wading shoe. Good shoe, but the liner inside is cloth. The cloth rots from immersion in water and had enough tears that I eventually had to cut it out. Simms might look for a different liner.

You get the same effect for a lot less using hardware store size #12 hex head stainless steel screws, 1/2" or 3/8". Home depot. Cost a fraction as much. They all wear out, regardless of that fancy shape.

They fall out of the boots constantly. Day 1 I lost 1/3rd of them. My orvis boots never lost studs this frequently. Simms says I’m even under screwing or over screwing

I got new G3 guide with rubber, fished 3 days on different rivers. they are great for fine gravel , tolerable for freestone stream, but dangerous on the rocks covered with algae or green stuff. it was like skating on the ice 😭 so I'm thinking what type of cleats to choose

No. Hard rocks bite into the aluminum.. and the hardbites bite into soft rock.
