Simon is brilliant! I only discovered him maybe 5 months ago, but it was a revelation. I'm so grateful he even exists. Not only is he ridiculously funny, but like you said....he's a truly enlightened fascinating human being. But...while I'm only halfway into this video...the audience seems pretty receptive and into it. They don't seem that cold to me. Also...I think miking an audience well is _hugely_ important to recorded stand up comedy. The sound of the audience is integral to really enjoying a stand up performance. Poorly miked stand up is _horrible_ to watch. Even if the audience was truly loving it in the moment....if all I hear is crickets after each joke...it's just _awkward_ as fuck lol.
I saw him on Netflix! As an American, this type of comedy isn't used much, and never people talking about their sexuality on stage! This guy is seriously funny and an open person!
In all seriousness, being a famous British comedian is the highest achievement any comedian can aim for. Becoming famous in America always seems like a downgrade to me.
@@therabbithat I can't really argue with that, as I don't know any Brazilian comedians. Are there any good examples on RU-vid I can check out? With English subtitles, I'm afraid... my Portuguese is not great. In fact I have no idea if I'm spelling 'Portuguese' correctly.
A friend of mine (definitely not me, that would be disgusting), finds Mr Amstell really quite oddly beautiful, like a moth to a flame I am, I mean he is drawn in and there doesn't seem to be anything I, I mean, he can seem to do about it!

Hey Simon, it actually does matter where you are from. You with different genes would be a very different you. People with certain genes made certain cultures in particular geographical areas. Just saying.
@@Amy-oh8qb Whatever point you have in your head, what he actually said is that it doesn't matter where you are from, which is not true. There is significant variation between different human groups, who have been developing in geographically separated regions for many thousands of years.
@@apu_apustaja he said you shouldn't be proud of where you're from because it's actually nothing to do with you. Everything you've said is for his point, not against it.
Well you said it simon so it must be true, that Bob Geldof caused this so go and talk to paula on the bigbreacfast. Get some cornflakes on the way and talk to zig and zag.
@@louisgraham9959 I couldn't remember where I've seen him before. After thinking about it a bit. I remembered he interviewed my favorite band. Watched Set free. stumbled on it a few days ago. I found it pretty good. It's only 30 minutes. Who do you find funny? If I can ask. Don't be mean lol while he might not be the funniest he's not terrible terrible. Made me laugh a few times. But mostly his demeanor was endearing. At least to me. It's kind of like when you find a person a bit cute. Their not the funniest but you can't help but to laugh because there's something about them... it that sort of way. But louis c.k is funny. Depends on your type of humor.
He isn't a big deal in the UK. The thing most people will know him for is hosting a popular panel show called Nevermind the Buzzcocks, but that was over ten years ago, and he only worked on it for two or three years (the show has been around since the nineties). He's only come back into my consciousness because of his new Netflix special. A lot of people here will know who he is, but I doubt they'll recognise his work besides that one TV show.
@@slinkeepy Excuse me numnut, I am clearly more intelligent than you if you think this constitutes humour. I bet you have to wear a happy helmet and ride the special bus everyday. Real comedy is the likes of Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Chris Rock, Kevin Bridges, Lee Evans. Look them up and learn something.
