“ The things that I think is so good about generation Z is how open-minded they are how accepting they are. They really are driven by inclusion and acceptance. I think that’s a huge benefit to the future of society. I love that they are an activists generation. They are not just hashtagging their discontent they’re arranging rallies and they’re actually showing up” Thank you Simon Sinek. I am trying to do short documentary videos about our changing society and these words are really true. I believe in this new generation.

Sir from the very core a heartful thank you. I've been following your teachings since 3 years and you've helped playing a part in my development. I just feel sorry that the generation z your so proud of are giving more importance to increasing the viewership of vine and roasting channels than these educational ones. I want the one to help. When I'll me a bit more matured I also want to bring a change like you are bringing. Hope for the better. Once again...Respected Sir... Thank you.

I love this thought process being from the education background and having headed schools I always felt my key responsibility was towards teachers and students both because if the teachers aren't empowered they cant empower their students and the whole purpose of education is lost. Another approach I encouraged was to let them know it was alright to make mistakes(I always owned up to mine- if i could see them 😀) as long as we learnt from them and took accountability for what happened...this helped people grow in many ways.

It takes a teacher to genuinely cares to teach students how to think, it’s much more difficult. Teaching how to think requires knowing how each individual student thinks to begin with. Teaching what to think, that’s largely regurgitation of material. I agree with what you say.

Well, I disagree with that because at school kids will be taught how to communicate with others. Moreover, at school, they will learn to have a presentation which I think is necessary for them. Communication is one of the most essentials skills for people to survive in this era globalization.

This is a wonderful, euphoric, and certainly optimistic, concept. I appreciate that you are asking the questions, which really have needed to be asked for some time, but it is an extremely complex situation. If you have any suggestions on the how to get this accomplished, on the how to do this, that would be great! However, trying to teach kids any kind of ethics and principles becomes quite tricky, especially since most children today have been taught that they can sue their parents, that parents can sue the schools, etc, ad nauseam. Add to that, finding common ground for morale obligations and responsibilities, values and ethics, and the "how" to teach exactly what to all children so that they are able to develop an internal locus of control, complex thinking skills that help them to literally think through a problem, and go forward in peace and harmony with those around them in a society , that all agree on, is even more precarious. Many are just compelled to hold their tongues, push kids through keep the numbers up so they get the ADAs, and eventually retire with a fat pension. And yes, that is an extremely sad State of Affairs! I grew up with some incredible teachers, and then, even though I was supposedly "disadvantaged", those great teachers made me an overcomer, taught me to think and question extremely well, to look forward, and not only gave me vision, but taught me how to develop my own, when seriously, I probably should not have had a chance from my circumstances. I believe some of those teachers may have been sued today for something, whatever it may have been, which is thoroughly excruciating to me to even think about! We are crushing innovation, hrartfelt concern, genuine empathy for children, creativity in teachers, and just creating tension between them, the students, and the parents. We indeed need people who can think outside of the box, to be innovative, to employ creativity in the essentials and the basic boring stuff of daily classroom tactics, but also how to make the parents feel integrated into their kids learning experience! Not just be somewhere in the background as the "homework police" or the conference modulator! Good questions and ideas.. any solutions that come with those?

The westernized world bases being smart on timing. If someone said to solve an equation and one child took 20 seconds and the other took 20minutes but both got it right it doesn't mean that one is smarter just because someone got it quicker. We need to redefine how we "measure" or define the term smart because a lot of us are capable of the same thing that somebody else is doing if we just took our own time to figure it out.
@paulpietras6911

The story of Bill and Bob: Bill and Bob are two twin brothers. The first one, Bill who is 20 min older than his brother is now 35 years old. He is a multimillionaire with a couple of businesses to his name. Bob builds wood furniture and has to live in is shop, he has lots of debts. Bill, although a good business man is stressed out by all he has to do, works 16 hours days and has become a slave to his businesses. Bob, although in debt is looking forward to his next day of work because he found his passion in life, making wood furniture. Yet, when people talk about them they say that Bill made it in life, that he is successful, but when they talk about Bob they say that it's sad because he did not make it in life, yet Bob is happier than Bill. Lots of young people don't care about finding their passion, all they want is to have a job and make in the six figures. It's said that 80% of the people don't like their jobs. Socrate said that the richest person in the world is the one that needs the least to be content.

Thanks Simon. I cannot comment on educating children. We educate adults . We are highly regulated by the government in a world of HR people looking for that piece of paper to prove the worth, skills and abilities of the prospective employees. This is entrenched in the employment process. Maybe it needs to be attacked from both ends instead of 1 end for it to work. Re-educating the Employers always looking for a piece of paper as well as the new approach to teaching children.

Dear Simon, just think about the best teacher you've had. They were not Math, English, or any other subject teacher . They were people who care about the achievement of the fulfilment of their pupils. The subjects are just a mean of convey some knowledge through their love to people. Governs are worried about educating people to pay taxes. Teachers are oriented if not forced to follow the education system targets. I've been an English teacher for more than 35 years and I learned that nowadays the students want to get a good great to get a well paid jog to buy what they think they need. There is no CRITICAL LEARNING. LOVE, LIVE, LEARN n LAUGH MAC

The thing is in my humble opinion, schools do not teach how to build loving and stable relationships with people around, whether your friends, people on street, your work colleagues, your family, your significant others, wifes or husbands, children, how to confront the issues in life, how to become leader of your own life but in same time not sink in your false ego. True ego to strive for better life for others, devote to others, empathy to others , share and collaborate and open the heart and open the mind, critical thinking, explore behind the horizon, behind what eyes can see. So instead of going just to school, meet and share with as much people as possible, and know also in your life, you have a potential to become anyone you want to develop your mind, to follow your passion and love things you do.

From my view, students should be able to study on their own. Most education today teach us based on how to use tools. Like a teacher teaching you on how to use screwdriver and what you can make use of it. It supposed to be backward. Students should faced the problem first then they will know why they need to use that screwdriver.

I could not agree more with this part: "If I ask any school administrator, "What's your number one priority?" they're gonna tell me, "The student." It's completely wrong. The responsibility of leadership has nothing to do with the results. Leaders are responsible for the people who are responsible for the results. Administrators serve the teachers. The teachers serve the students, and when the administration believes that the numbers are everything, the teachers will protect themselves from their own leaders and then the students will suffer."
@siparnell9071
@siparnell9071 5 лет назад
From a fellow Simon, and teacher, "Yes!!!" But administrators are too protective of their retirement package to implement any effective changes - at least, here in Japan 😔 Until a government somewhere puts a halt to the current system, education will continue to go down the toilet 😣

Most teachers agree that the obsession with test scores has caused much more harm than good. Teachers leaving the profession often cite a lack of support from the administration as the reason for their departure. Teaching communication skills and leadership skills are essential for students of all ages, hower, how should educators measure leadership instruction? If your answer to that question is not to measure it, you'll have a real fight with administrators on your hands. Administrators do not want teachers spending time on skills that cannot later be tested because then administrators do not have a way of measuring the teacher's effectiveness. If you ask educators to measure a skill a "right and wrong" way to lead will emerge. Help!!

Honest and true but...Utopic! As long as the " work hard " program works for crowds, as long as education is divided in "can afford because of my parents can pay" and " can't afford because my family lives in a council house", as long as the education standards are different for many reasons, as long as you have to Pay for it. the rest of the words are useless and there is no purpose in this video at all. it is part of Infinite BS game " let's talk about". You don't need to invent anything, just make the education free for everybody, no more schools " Only for white people, black people, red people, Rich etc" and that's it, guys. Look at Danemark Finland, Norway education standards. There are no schools for rich kids, so if you are rich and your child is going to a standard school and meet poor guys, you will make sure that this school will meet the highest standards. And seems to me that everyone forgets about the completely random DNA roulette, it doesn't care about how many figures are on your bank statement, the kid could be born stupid no matter you are the Prince or Trump. Poor rich kids, they "must" follow their parents' path even they don't really want to. The rest of their miserable life is a long list of obligations and expectations. Did they ask for it? I don't think so. But no matter what we have Farrages and Johnsons, Trumps and Putins and nothing you can do until is too late.

Simon, I liked your Golden Circle talk but you don't know anything about school. I'm a high school teacher. Do you think we don't know about supporting our students passions and interests? You know this is our job right? You think you know better because you watched Ken Robinson's TED talk and you have a platform to talk about it? We do this EVERY DAY. There are bad teachers, but they exist because particularly in America teaching is not a prestigious or highly regarded career, and you're contributing to that by making videos about how we're screwing up the next generation. You don't know what you're talking about.
