So much of your content is urgently needed in our country today . My parents and grandparents lived through rationing and WWII (I’m 65) and they survived because they had the knowledge most of the younger generations do not. It just wasn’t passed on or seen as relevant by many. Now it’s become relevant again and God bless people like yourself who are willing to teach and share. Shows in the enormous number of subscribers you have. It is my hope that many more will be open to learning these life saving skills . God Bless…..Linda

Linda, I couldn't agree more! Im 49 and thank the good Lord above that my mother taught us kids how to can, or put up, as she called it. I passed that on to my daughter and now we have our 7 year old granddaughter interested. Even though I already know all the basics, I ALWAYS learn something new from these videos and I am truly grateful to this online community! ❤🙏🏻🇺🇸

I, too, didn’t get around to cleaning up my garden in the fall. But I noticed something great this winter!! I let many things go to seed and I watched the birds snack on them! Mother Nature as it was intended 😊

Even if just 50% of the food you feed your family of 10 each year comes from your garden, It is definitely worth the time, money and sweat. I'm sure your percentage is higher and with food prices so ridiculous, you are ahead of the game. Love your vids.

Much respect to you for taking time to learn about your climate/land and do your garden gradually with raised beds. One could just hire a landscaper to do all the work for them for that 'instant" garden and who can afford that. But, being a true homesteader that you are, these things take time and money and doing the work yourself to achieve the end goal over time is very admirable and a great example set for the majority. Thank you for keeping it real and being genuine. It took me 4 yrs to achieve my end result of the gardens. I did a section each year and it's very gratifying to have done the work myself. Started peppers last week! This weekend we did some herbs and flowers.

A GREAT resource for jugs is coffee places. They go through A LOT of milk. I asked one place to save me some jugs and I would pick them up in a few days. They said they had to stop after a couple of days because they were getting to be too many. I ended up with 54... in two days... from one place!

This first week of March is my garden planning week. This February was so busy with my son graduating from the Navy and two birthdays. Now I can focus on our gardens. We live in town and use similar beds as you do and this allows the children to have a place to play with the front half of the yard closest to the house is our garden beds. Each year we add a couple more beds, this year Amazon has the double length beds for only slightly more than the smaller ones so we got two larger ones. My main goal this week is to clean the yard up and prepare for spring...and start anything that really needs an early start now. We are so excited about our garden this year, we are also lining the entire yard with blackberry bushes on the backside, blueberry on the right side, and lastly adding 2 more apple trees to the alley side. My front yard has strawberry plants and last year we did lettuces/kale there. I am hoping for lots of flowers this year...I feel we need more cheery plantings as well..wherever there is a spot!

For years I have had a tomato seed "problem," collecting variety after variety. Last year I came to the realization that I was starting to develop a pepper "issue" as well! My garden plan keeps track of what varieties are where for seed saving as well as evaluating which are worth the space in the future. I like to plant a few of each and more of favorites, because different weather conditions make different varieties thrive. Congratulations on your plaque!

I love the website you shared. Thank you so much for this information. I definitely need to use that website. By the way, I am a Gramma of homeschooling children and a homesteader. I homeschooled my own children back in the 80's and 90's. I shared your channel with my daughter. She says to me: Mom, I need to take and put aside time to can with you this year. She loved the freshness of the few things she did can with me last year. I told her there are homeschooling moms who are homesteading, canning etc, while they are homeschooling. I shared with her one of your older videos about homesteading and homeschooling and how you do it. I love your videos and the fact that you homeschool and homestead at the same time. I was actually doing that too, back in the day, but we didn't call it homesteading then. Thank you for the gardening website info also. Iv'e been gardening all of my life, but there is always more to learn on the subject and I realize that I need to do that website too.

I was all for that site till i realized that just opened the door of putting out there what foods you have if someone with ill intentions could take advantage of. Werther it be the gov., or someone who does not prep and relies on food being in a store. For me im going to stick to the old fashioned prep ways because i just don't like the idea of what could happen by putting my food sources and supplies on the web. But, all the ideas on the site you use, are helpful to do on a piece of paper, may take me more time, but it would make me feel safer by not putting my food items on the web. The video still helped me and thank you for putting the idea out there. I hope you and your family are safe and all well. Stay true Jessica, the purity show's in you!! Have a blessed Sunday!🙂

I'm going to have to get along with a sunny windowsill, though I'd love to have lights. I'm using Solo cups for all peppers and tomatoes. That way they have room to grow for 8 weeks, no "potting up". And, something new I learned is to use toilet paper cores. Cut and fold the bottoms. They will biodegrade, so they can be directly planted in the garden.

Luckily I had a 1 burner stove I could use outside for my tea, but it's really not allowed here because old people start fires. I'm very careful though. Thank you and God bless❤️

Looks like you're off to a great start. Prayers for a fruitful year of garden harvest. Just a word of encouragement (from someone who lives in Louisiana where Tobasco is made) it may literally be impossible for you to recreate the flavor as the process for making Tobasco is quite specific and involves equipment/supplies/techniques/growing conditions (white oak casks/mash/aging) that I can't imagine that even the most capable homesteader (especially in your part of the world) could recreate. You'll just have to "label" yours under a totally different name and enjoy it as a totally different thing! Thanks for sharing this part of your week with us.

For pepper plants, if you have peppers that aren’t mature but frost is coming, pick the whole plant out by the root & hang it up to dry in a dry place (attic or whatever area you have) & the peppers will continue to mature while on the drying plant. Just pick them off when they become mature & compost the rest of the plant. You can also put the plant into a indoor pot & bring it in for the winter & replant them next spring.
