Interesting. I may go back to boardgames. Have been playing the computer version of Field of Glory 2 the last 9 months. My interest in Ancient warfare has grown exponentially in the last 9 months. A belated thanks for the video.
Great review Marco, thank you so much for doing this. What this illustrates to me is that if you've played any of the Men of Iron games, SGBoH would be the next logical progression. I'm playing Blood & Roses at mo, & I've only played all the variations of the 1st Battle of St Albans, so I've still to learn how to use cavalry. I did play the 1st MoI game before, but that was quite a few years ago, so need to recap. I have a way to go before I can play SGBoH (which I have,but never played) but when there I'll play Caesar: Conquest of Gaul (2nd reprinting, never played, which I also have from bargain on ebay).
I'd be interested in your review of the full system and whether the full system is worth it. I enjoy Commands & Colors so much with its super fast play, that I may never have the patience for GBoH or even SGBoH. The Armchair Brigade site has a variant which is apparently even simpler and faster.
Finally! Been waiting for you to review this great system - I've played both GBoH and SGBoH - difficulty with GBoH usually centers around leaders, activation, seizure, etc. Really not bad when you get used to it. Hoplite has got it right with a chit-pull type activation and seizure system. Alexander and SPQR reviews later?
