We've become big fans of the roast pork sandwiches that many of the sandwich places in Philly sell, so we decided to try making some of our own. As you'll see in this video, the recipe and cooking process is very simple. We started with a whole boneless pork tenderloin and a can of Campbell's French onion soup. We cut the tenderloin in half so we could place it in 2 large baking dishes. Then we used a marinade injector to inject the French onion soup into the tenderloin. The pieces of onion that were left in the bottom of the soup can were spread onto the top of the pork tenderloin. Then we smoked the pork in our Traeger grill on the "smoke" setting until the internal temperature of the meat reached 110 degrees. At that point we removed the meat from the Traeger and prepped it to slice. Before slicing the meat we removed a LOT of the fat from the tenderloin. this made the meat easier to slice and kept the tenderloin from getting as greasy while it finished cooking. We used our Chef's Choice meat slice to slice the tenderloin nice and thin. We put the sliced pork tenderloin into a crockpot on the low setting to allow it to finish cooking. The French onion soup that was injected into the pork gave it a great flavor! and helped to keep it moist during the entire cooking process. This pork made great tasting sandwiches! We are thinking of using this process again to cook another tenderloin, but with BBQ seasoning and maybe injecting some BBQ sauce into it like we did with the French onion soup this time. So as you can see, this was a simple and fairly cheap meal to feed a lot of people. All that was needed was the pork loin, a can of French onion soup, rolls, and cheese (we used provolone). The sandwiches were great with just the pork and provolone cheese, and even better with a small amount of BBQ sauce added on the top.

Looks fantastic! I don’t have a smoker but I can figure out a way to let it slow roast on the grill and then finish it in the crockpot. 😋

We tried this before cooking the pork in a roast pan in the oven. It worked great, but it's that time of year here where it's hot and we don't feel like dealing with a hot oven.
