We really do….. kids are loving being able to follow decent instructions, cheese and onion quiche today. They did a good job with that, Swiss roll is a challenge for most with the rolling up so we will see what they think of that . Thank you for your content
I’m wondering why I love your channel so much. I’ve decided it’s simple, easy to understand directions and things you normally have at home. I think your editing makes it even better. Thank you
My granny asked me to bake this for her dessert tomorrow but I said I didn't think I could. I'm gonna follow this recipe and suprise her. Your a wee sweetheart thank you
Why have I spent Hours watching complicated baking videos??? You simplify my life. Thank you. I need less stress and more money…I get both with your videos. 😀
Happy Easter everyone, just made our dessert, pre made chocolate cupcakes from the freezer, frozen strawberries and whipped cream stirred into them. Will make the swiss roll for next week, I always forget about this simple recipe, thank you.
Your recipes have made baking so easy for me! I will make my first Swiss Roll today with confidence and whipped cream! ***Update! ***I did it! My first time! It was like a desert in a fancy restaurant. Thanks, I’m encouraged to do more. Now, CUSTARD is my old nemesis. Could you maybe give us a video making that tantalizing, creamy, eggy sauce?
Hi I am from Australia and I made your jam roll it turned out amazing thank you for sharing you are a great cook and you explain everything so well. I enjoy watching you bake keep up your good work. Many thanks.
Made this today, the lightest sponge roll I've ever managed to make , and so easy! I just put the video on and followed along with you , and it came out perfectly. Thanks so much!
This was AMAZING!! Who knew making a Swiss roll could be soooo easy!!! At least you certainly make it look easy! You’ve inspired me to give it a try. In Canada we have chocolate rolls like this with a white filling(no idea if it’s an icing or more of a whipped cream that fills it) I’ve never made one before but I have everything to make it. Thank you, oh and do you have a video on how to make a lovely custard like you were enjoying with it?🥰❤️
For sure Dave this is delicious to look at,you have certainly enjoyed that,i have a list long, doing ginger cake this weekend, your my favourite baking master, thank you
Greeting Dave Happy Easter another school time memory to remember abd baking and affordable receipe. Thank you so much for sharing lovely wonderful video's 😊
Good timing since I’ve got the Bakewell slice tray bake in the oven using your shortcrust pastry and MrPaulsPantry filling recipe. 20mins to go. Time for a wonderful Baking On A Budget recipe video 😎
@@BakingOnABudgetthe first one turned out of the tin all over the oven door because it slipped off the oven glove - rookie mistake. The second one I’ll trust went ok because I left it with my uncle and didn’t taste that one. The first one has been half eaten and was delicious with some Madagascan vanilla custard. That would be a nice recipe to try and figure out to share with us…it’s around £2+ at Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons. I didn’t like the other supermarket versions
I always give you a thumbs up at the beginning of the video because i know it's going to be good. This is my husbands favourite. I'm going to make one tomorrow. Thanks for another great recipe 😊
I'm a newbie, and I adore your cooking it's like having my mama in the kitchen . I do have lil experience baking, and want to get back into traditional baking with your low-cost ingredients and simple directions .. I'm totally in . Thank you
I just made your jam roly poly. Didn't have the right size baking tray, didn't have baking powder (used self raising flour) didn't have jam. It turned out well. Had to rush to the corner store for the jam but it looks good. Will make custard to have with it for dessert tonight. I was tempted to use the marmalade I had. It might have been OK if I made the custard a bit sweeter. Where there's a will there's a way.
Thank you so much for this. Always wanted to try making one. Could I make this with cream inside along with the jam? if so at what stage would I put it in?
Great demo Dave. I also like a slice with a cuppa, and sometimes put a spoonful or two of buttercream icing in with the jam. I wait for it to cool completely when doing this
When you are able to set up a Patreon account please let me know. I will contribute. I'm making those delicious scones all the time now. I can't believe how easy they are to make. Since I've stopped trying to make them like our American biscuits, they've turned out perfect every time.
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the scones, I don't have any plans to set up a patreon at the moment but if I do I will announce it in a future video. Thanks very much.
This looks great! I always thought I could never make a Swiss roll, as I couldn’t imagine how to prevent it breaking up when rolled. The techniques here are so simple, and not time-consuming at all. It looks delicious.
I've not made a Swiss roll in years, will give this a go a it looks lovely. By the way, your minced beef and onion pie was excellent, so easy to make and the pastry was lush, thanks.
Another great recipe! I'm thinking Nutella in the center with a dusting of cocoa on top of the roll. Oh wait! Lemon Curd! That would be amazing. My English mother would approve of this whole heartedly.
This was my mothers recipe. She didn't use oil./a tear to my eye.Did your apple pie for easter many compliments. Thanks and all the best to you and your family.
I live in Canada I love watching your videos your recipes are so easy and they look so good I'm going to try a few I hope they come out as good as yours
Looks like a great recipe for a Swiss roll. I've often seen home bakers coat final roll with granulated sugar. Also I'd make a little trifle with the offcuts hehe. My family call a jam roly poly one made with pastry, baked already rolled up with a sugar syrup poured over it when baking.
Have always put off trying to make swiss roll but gave this a go today , it was surprisingly quick and wasn't as difficult as I'd often imagined!! 🤣 Was lovely and light, though a tad sticky on the outside, is this usual? Did stick a bit to the baking paper after rolling so some of the outside stuck but wasn't a big deal and everyone enjoyed it. Didn't check before I started and we only just had enough jam left to put in it!! Will maybe add a bit more next time, will definitely make this again, thank you 🙂
I would just put a little more grease or lard on the paper and that should stop it from sticking, and yes it can be a little sticky with the sugar. Thanks again.
@@BakingOnABudget Thank you. I did put some lard on the sheet on the tray but not on the 2nd sheet, will try to remember for next time. Cake was still lovely though and has all been polished off!
I've always wondered if the recipe turned out well in RU-vid videos and TV cooking shows because never has a cook said "um not one of my best". But that sponge roll must have been delicious because you ate it all. Did you have another slice? I would have.
