Hey, jouned your channel time ago, this video is awesome for me as a VR Xplane pilot! Nice usefull content! I have tried a lot befor, but this works nice for me! Ryzen 5 3600K (4.1GHz, 1080 8gb, 64GB Ram, SSD) Keep your content running! Nice work! Greetings from germany ;)
Just wanted to thank you. I was suffering from 5fps in x-plane while on VR with my rift S. The few programs and settings you showed. Boosted me up to a steady 40fps in stormy conditions. Now I can enjoy all the money I've spent on this pc and simulator
Really glad I found your channel, my man. VR brought me back to flight simming, but even on a high end (i9-9900KS OC to 5.2GHz, 2080 Ti) computer, I was getting disappointing frame rate performance (pre-Vulkan for sure) and basically quit trying. However, with your help, I've been able to improve and have fun again with it, so thank you THANK YOU! Keep it up!
If you get a chance make sure you try out 11.50 Beta 9. Super smooth, same tricks apply ;) I think I may only be having minor issues due to custom scenery I'm building. Thanks so much for watching!
@@RavenSimulations I could do with that 🤣 I just set up VR with you vid on Oculus Link it works great. Ive only really flown the 737 before in 2d but now im starting in a cessena in VR. The CPU navigation is very different so im sort of taking off and randomly hopeing to bump into a airport at the moment 🤪
I am using the ovr and vmi twick now too. Its awesome thx you. And cars means traffic on the roads. Hehe and i found a way to disable the ugly autogen roads but still have driving cars on it. Its fantastic
Once again, great tutorial. Your previous one did wonders for my Quest Link setup with a 1070 and i6500. I will check if this tutorial can even improve it and reduce the micro stutters when I’m flying the helicopter over Manhattan. Thanks again.
Thanks for this! Very helpful as I just got X plane and have been trying to optimize my VR. I have the Odyssey HMD and 1080ti with a 7700. Appreciate it.
DUDE. Holy forking shirtballs, this just saved me from removing my eyes with an icecream scoop every time I tried to play. I'm playing on the Rift S, i7-5820K over-clocked to 4.2Ghz, 32GB DDR4, and a 2080 Super (which, while not the highest end rig out there is perfectly respectable) and for the friggin LIFE of me I couldn't get the damn thing to run smooth.......
@@RavenSimulations Honestly, at this point, they need to kick shit up to multicore support. I mean, I can play Elite Dangerous maxed out with 1.8 on super-sampling and it's butter smooth. There's really no reason why X-Plane can't get to that level. But yeah man, was awesome, thanks again!
I had originally setup my VR as per your first tutorial which helped greatly. Panel, etc was "fuzzy" so I am now using the optimization software as per this video which is much nicer to see what is happening real time. I have an Xforce PC with RTX 2070 with 8GB of VRAM, a 6core i5 CPU with 24GB of RAM. Interesting thing I have found since I now can see what is happening real time is that if I have the mouse active in VR it kills my FPS from 50+ to about 20 to 23 FPS. Always wondered what was occasionally happening before using these tools. I only use the mouse in VR when I can't get a hold of something with the controller because the mouse pointer keeps moving around as I move my head. Things are somewhat clearer though with the new tools but not perfect. Sure is nice to analyze in real time! Do you have a slowdown if your mouse is active? Seems like the only difference between our equipment is your i7 CPU. BTW, I also have Saitek hardware switch, com and autopilot units in use from my pre VR days.
Another GREAT video. Is your oculus PC app left at default? I think mine has 72mhz, 80 and 92. You can also choose the resolution on the quest 2. I'm wondering if that should be left alone and utilize OVR and Twik only. I have a 3060TI and really expected more out of it. Thanks again!
Xplane is a hog. I run defaults i believe. I have a oculus rift 1, so i don't even have those options. I did just order a quest 2. Will have videos on that soon!
I want to thank your for your video and although OVR works perfectly fine, the VMI-Twick would not show up as a loaded plugin and caused laggy loading, laggy performance, and desktop crashes. Just as soon as I removed it from the plugins folder, the sim loaded quickly and ran smoothly (50+ FPS).
that is strange. I just upgraded to oculus quest 2.... vmi twick still works great, but ovr settings I Uninstaller since with it there was no way to get 120hz. thanks for watching!
@@RavenSimulations Yes, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve insured it was in the FlywithLua Scripts folder, only for it to somehow appear in the quarantined Scripts folder in conjunction with the issues described.
there is a steam version of ovr settings I believe... but it comes built in to oculus software... ovr settings just tweaks what oculus already has available
Nice tutorial, thanks! I have a 2080 Ti, but sadly I am on an AMD CPU which does not play well with OpenGL as I understand. Getting sub 30fps with minimum acceptable graphical settings. Eagerly awaiting the Vulkan release!
Tell you what would be really awesome....if someone could map google earth VR with X-Plane 11. Cheers for the tips I'm now getting 40+ fps as oppose to 20.
They already have that and its called Ortho4xp. I have a video on this here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jg7A1PoZD34.html - Though I really need to do a more updated version but this should be enough to get you started.
Finally... i got it working as good as in 2D. But sad its... thats looks worse than in 2D. I think thats problem with optimisation. Thats strange, that simulator looking that creepy works creepy too :| When I got 50fps in HIGH on Red Dead Redemption 2 what have volumetric clouds, big world rendering etc. Laminar sucks with optimizations... hope so MS Flight Simulator 2020 will have VR support and will work at least in 35 frames... Anyway your tutorial made my day. I have spend almost 4 hours of setting it. Hope so I will never again go under 20 fps... And never again will be kicked from vatsim for that lol.
you cant really compare a flight sim to a game like rdr2, i agree that xplane needs more optimization but flights sims just simply are very demanding, probably the most demanding type of game in fact, so you shouldnt be expecting to get the same fps in a flight sim as you would in a normal game
Suffering badly with VATSIM frame rate enforcement so it’s time to retune everything. I’ve tried all these tools in the past and was using ovr by its self but xPilot didn’t seem to like it at all, getting repeated crashes. I’ve got very similar setup but with a gtx1080ti so I should get similar results. My test is ORBX EGCB with as4xp 9 Jan 2020 in the Aerobask Panthera so it’s pretty demanding. Malcolm
I've been flight sim' ing about 12 years, and these days it's primarily in P3Dv4.5. The 2-d is pretty awesome. I got myself XPlane this past year and then also picked up an Oculus Rift S this past year as well. So, yesterday I was dabbling in XP and I wished I had stumbled on your video before I spent a dozen hours between the two programs checking out VR and tweaking things to get it to work. With that, and maybe to save me some time, do the Oculus products work in P3Dv4 as well? XP is coming along I see. It's just that I like the plugins and addons that I have in P3D, and well, I have a lot. About 60 ORBX sceneries, Ultimate Traffic, Chaseplane, Active Sky, quite a 'hanger' of cool craft and much more. I have the KSNA for XP as well as I live in the OC and in RL I flew out of KFUL. Great job on the video, and the information you provided is very helpful. Thank you.
I only use xplane. I know fly inside a seperate plugin for fs and p3d I think still works in vr, but xplane is native vr... I hear it just works better then fly inside
It's really sad that VR owners have to use 3rd party software to make games look better this is bullshit people. You pay a lot of money for VR and still get shitty graphics that sucks. I'm not a hater I have VR myself but this fact pisses me off.
Hi, great video 👍 I’ve just found your great channel and subscribed. I’ve just bought an Oculus Rift S and was looking how to get the best out of it. I wear varifocal glasses and in VR it’s fuzzy. At the moment I can’t get any sound through my Oculus but it all works in the Oculus setup. I’ve only got the Oculus tonight so I need a few nights to get it all sorted out. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. I forgot to ask, what monitor resolution do you use in VR? Thanks
I'm re-introducing myself to VR and found your channel. Excellent video! You have a new subscriber. One question: In X-Plane 11 settings, when I open the VR Hardware window, the Oculus app opens up, which I'm sure steals frames. How can I disconnect that link? Thanks!
Hi, how do I configure my VR controller? Everything works fine, but when I go to execute the commands on the plane it doesn't execute, it vibrates, the light turns green when I touch the buttons, but it doesn't respond, do you need to configure it manually?
I have an oculus rift 1, never had to configure the controllers. Though I would check the Oculus software to make sure it sees them. Sometimes I would have to replace batteries. I just ordered a Quest 2. More videos on that soon! Thanks for watching!
hi, thanks for the video, i have some Qs: 1- while using ingame AA do we need to turn off steamvr AA/SS ? 2- I use the JarA330, but cant fix the pilot position as it should be and have to go through a long process back n forth to be aligned (menu reset view doesn't work well), is there a way to assign that specific pilot seat position with a key like we can do it in non-vr version via num-pad ? 3- If using Vive(steamvr), are similar plugins available ? THanks
1. I use 0 AA, and 1.5 SS 2. There is some other software to help with this. I saw a video on it. I just map the top hat on my yoke to forward back left and right and move myself into position with that. 3. Sorry I am no help there. I don't have a vive or use steam VR Thanks for watching!
I'm going to go right out and say this: If you are going to do Flight simming with X-plane, go with the Oculus platform. I have tried several Steam based/Vive Based units, and they all have been a waste of time and just really a constant PITA. I have used (and still do) the vive cosmos, cosmos pro/elite, Index, and the Pimax series (using Steam VR, which they all actually use). Every session has been fraught with pain, agony, woe, and despair. It had gotten to where I didn't even want to fly anymore, and had only done 2D, when VR was the REAL and ONLY true reason I ever got back into simming in the first place! Do Oculus, at least for Flight simming. I enjoy the other Steam VR things, but in X-Plane, for ME, SteamVR is completely broken, and i've used it on on both an Intel i9 and i7 system with 2080Ti graphics AND an AMD 3950X system with 2080Ti graphics...not fun.
Sadly the VR Environment is a challenge. I’m using a HP reverb and am blown away by it. My problem seems to be with different beta versions on xplane but wanted to use Vulcan so had to go with using the betas
Thank you very much for this video. I am at the stage of purchasing my first VR. Have you had the opportunity to compare Oculus (after applying sharpness software fixes) to HP Reverb. Everyone is now lining up to buy the new HP Reverb G2, and meanwhile, the Rift S is a cheap option to start your VR adventure in XP.
There is a plugin to set your controllers to transparent. You can find it here - forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/51578-vr-controllers-mod/ I use the Ethereal ones.
Thanks for this video. I just ordered the Oculus Rift S. Somehow caught it in stock today. Will be using these plugins. One curious question .. if with OVR you do force 27 or force 45 (or whatever setting one chooses) would it potentially also be ok to set max frame rate for X-Plane in the Nvidia control panel to match that?
I force 45. The nvidia control panel doesn't effect the oculus in my experience. Just like the brightness and contract settings do nothing to the oculus
Is it good to have 16GB of RAM instead of 8 as i have right now in my Acer Nitro 5 laptop with a GTX1050ti 4GB, i7 8GB, 2.80GHz almost 6TB on External disk:) Is it good? Should i upgrade to 16 or 24 or 32?
@@pixistix_ I like the steam version, especially duing this time where they are releasing BETA versions of 11.51. With steam its 1 click to get the latest beta, and 1 click to switch back to stable build in the properties in steam for the product.
Nice video, for some reason my audio does not work in Xplane VR, works fine for other VR games and Rift S store. Audio choice on speaker out is Rift S. Thoughts?
when they upgraded to vulkan it broke some of the settings in vmi twick since the gfx was redone, there are no hooks for those sliders anymore. I'm not sure if that program will be updated to support vulkan or not.
Hey man great channel very informative. Just a had question I have a i7-9700k and gtx 1080ti. And I get around 80-90 frames in 2d but then I switch to vr and I struggle to get 40 FPS. I went through and changed all my settings to what you have. But I just can’t seem to get 45 no matter what I do. Unless I change the sliders in xplane and go way down where it’s not very real looking. Is there settings inside the oculus program that you change or optimize? Thanks for any help.
I haven't changed anything in the oculus, just make sure you have reflections to 0 and droppin ai aircraft can sometimes help. watch the super sampling as well, as I sometimes turn that down at large airports. I have noticed recently clouds have been hitting my framerate more for some reason. with a 9700k u should be able to boost it up more then my settings
Raven's Planes ok thanks man. I will double check all of that. I fly out of Missouri so there isn’t big airports I visit. So I’ll keep messing and tweaking things. Thanks again for your videos. Also what jet do you recommended for learning a jet? You like the premeirr1a?
Bro, i got oculus rift s and its working with all games but with xplane11 which i bought the VR for it its not working. I am dissappointed man . I did same what you did in this video and its better i can see airport but the pic is freeze .. i feel there is no answer for this issue
Raven's Planes thanx for ur answer i appreciate ur time .. its worked and i am happy but i feel that i need to make some improvements .. my computer CPU : i5 9400F processor and GPU: Msi GeForce1660Ti VENTUS XS 6G . Is it good enough or should i change something .. and thanks again for ur help
@@abotoohy oh excellent. Ya it takes a bit to adjust and get settings you can live with. VR especially in X-Plane due to complicated physics of the planes and all the interaction is pretty straining on current PC's. That being said, welcome to the future, it will only get better from here ;)
Raven's Planes Great, so i will try to get the best setting and see also when i want to improve something in future i will focus on CPU..thanx bro u help me alot 👍
I have 1 video on Vulcan right now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qNke9n1Ssao.html It has issues. I'm currently working on a new video on Beta 4
I'm sorry I don't have a quest, I'm still using my Rift. The rift on the oculus app side doesn't have any settings I tweak, all the settings I setup are in the individual software products.
yeah i run 1 notch of AA, with super sampling of 1.3 - 1.5 depending... The sliders that kill framerate for no reason are not the AA slider, they are reflections and building shadows.
@@RavenSimulations so you strap on a controller and you also can grab your flight stick? cause i use a flight stick like in the fighter planes. i rly hope you can use the mouse since i dont want to pick up and lay down the controllers all the time just to hit a little button
