I really dig your videos and it’s actually helped me with my vocals lately. I had to relearn again because I stopped singing for a few years and I got back into it. Anyway, I’m trying to teach my other musicians. Just had to do a little bit better backing vocals. Would love to see you make a video on backing vocal rock singers . Just so they can do the “hey hey” and “yea yeas” thanks

Glad to hear you like the videos! I feel ya on the “re-learning” it can be brutal!!! I had to fully retrain my voice and body to heal after Covid nearly ended my career! Thought the struggle was over until I was diagnosed with under active thyroid (which causes a hoarse voice!) ugh 😩 I’ll do a video soon on the “football backups” - thanks for that it’s a great idea!!! 😊👍🏼🙏🏽

Remember to keep the larynx low, especially in the upper register. If it begins to move up that means you are straining.

There is a lot of debate on larynx position - neutral/low/free so never sure who or what to believe.. I’ve tried them all and (for me) results can vary depending on style and if I’m trying to mimic a singer with a naturally high larynx 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@RockYourBestVocals I was a deep bass, "basso profundo" as they say. I sang with the Columbus Symphony during the Christian Badea years. But I could go into 2nd tenor country and even falsetto, all while keeping the larynx low. It is a discipline, and I quickly found if I don't use it I lose it. Also to another point: In an older video you talked about Ronald Koal. I met him In 1979 and he eventually moved into my duplex at First and Neil in 1982. He was good friend and neighbor, and what a creative force. I last saw him in 1989 at the Commie Fest, back when they held it on "the moon." (You are too young to remember those days.) He spent the afternoon with my wife and I. Life happens and I never saw him after that day....but I still listen to his music.
