Although it meant "Russian" in the beginning, it got parallel meanings like "Commie", or "Commie supporter" already long ago. So, today it can mean "Russian", but it can have pretty much the same meaning as "Sovok" as well.

As someone, who has written a candidate for a national anthem for a micronation of my friend’s and mine, and only has successfully translated the first verse and the refrain, I know the struggle of translating songs, when you have to keep the rhythm (the tune/melody), the rhymes, *AND* the meaning intact. @Carl Gustav Emil Mannerheim You, too. 👍🏻 *EDIT:* I have finally translated all the rest of the verses of our candidate national anthem into English to a satisfactory extent, as well.

Vielen Dank. Das ist die perfekte Musik, um querfeldein durch das deutsche Mittelgebirge zu ziehen. Dennoch: Es sollte vielleicht "In einem Haus am Rand des Waldes, wo dereinst meine Wiege stand." lauten - das wäre wohl noch im Sinne des Originals und wäre irgendwie kohärenter. Heißt es "In einem Haus am Rand des Waldes, wo meiner Eltern Hause stand" impliziert es, dass das Elternhaus in einem anderen Haus stünde.
