As a coach/choreographer of Singkil Dance since 2006, there is a lot of things to consider, it is a story teling not just typical folk dance each projections and fun waves has meaning every beat of bamboo fast and slow has connection to story and to make the performance safe everyone should sync to the bamboo rhythm since this is one of the music instrument of this piece aside of gong that signafize beginning and others, but for as long all performers are enjoying their performance everthing will came out very naturally and vibrant in every eye, you guys really did a good job specially to its choreographer, good translation though some are copied from very familiar folkdance group in the Philippines yet you gave other taste or version that made this extra ordinary performance, 7yrs. have past but still Congratulations and God bless!
Thank you, Sir, for the remarkable comment. Our choreographer is a former senior dancer of that very familiar folkdance group in the Phil. Traces are attributed to the fact that he had been a dancer for many years before internationally as well as locally located performances. Through the years, that trace had been extended to PPAC dancers in some or not all folkdance pieces originated from that folk dance group. More power to you as a choreographer. :)
The best singkil I've seen so far too (me too) I loved the entrance. And the long material that that was on the kawayan and she was holding and then she took it off"
The Florida weather is similar to Ph. What is wonderful are the Sulu Tribes as well as Ifugao Tribes culturally maintaining themselves amidst Western colonization. Our Austronese-Sundan heritage is preserved in dance, Kulintang gong, rice terraces etc. . Very cool and different than MTV:)
Being the Princess or Prince in Singkil is hard because you need to divide your mind into two. You need to gracefully move your fans/Sword at the same time you need to focus moving your feet on the exact timing. Hahaha trust me, i already did this, danced as a princess in Singkil.
very beautiful and the beat was awesome . the gongs and other musicals made it sound exotic. in one version i saw there were two prince fighting for the hand of the princess. that was exciting
The old man did what he always do feeling hes at home ... Imagine its a stage and someone just walk and did what he did .. heheheh gosh ... You can see realy people now adays just dont care walking infront to get to the other side not knowing you can walk at the back ..gosh
I prefer the sound of Kulintang throughout the dance rather than the ugly synthesized sound and the use of Moro sword - the Keris. It adds more drama and ferociousness of the Moro people.
the coreo is on point but the costume is kinda off and not really fully Maguindanao costume, and the sword.....wth using chinese dao??? cant you guys find any other kalis in US?
They did great but I don't agree that this is the best singkil performance. 😕 it's not authentic, the way they handle the fan, just no. Sorry. Singkil performance in SEA games was still my fave so far. Maranao here by the way.
@@lykalee9040 mali po yung pagliyad masyado ng princess, Meranao Princess fyi is a bit conservative, I graduated from MSU-Marawi and I’ve witnessed the Merano women dancing the singkil
