Maybe you should make an environmental desaster video about the industrial revolution. 😉 Would be pretty interesting how wastewater, chemicals etc. were handled back then.
Surprisingly those large particles fall out of the atmosphere very quickly. Still not good to breath, but not nearly as insidious to your lungs as the ultrafine soot being produced today.
@@otm646 Unfortunately the burning of coal produces sulfur dioxide which is a PM2.5 particulate pollutant IE extremely fine and this has always been true even with modern coal fired power plants. Modern cars and trucks that burn gasoline or diesel are much less polluting, but I still am not volunteering to breathe the fumes in any excess. The unfortunate reality is burning any carbon fossil fuel produces a lot of carbon dioxide which is pumped into the atmosphere and that does not settle to the ground like soot does. We know from the earths geological history that large volcanic events pumped immense amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere and the most severe eruptions were associated with local or global extinction events. Burning fossil fuels was and is part of our history, a necessary step in our development, but best to curb their use as soon as we can.
in reality that real black smoke is just large particles that will fall back to the ground shortly, gasoline puts all of it into the air, where as this engine releases soot which ineveitably will just be dust
Really though the total emissions its releasing really only equal a couple dozen cars running at once. When you consider the population density differences between now and when that machine was produced it really puts into perspective how much worse what we are doing today is. And we are still ~20 years from projected maximum emissions.
yep that's pretty much how it works now. my theory is a group of people trained the algorithm on a ton of watch hours on old odd videos, then it started recommending those to other people because they were popular all of a sudden . from there it just snowballed so pretty much all we watch now is 7 year old videos of people dropping things down holes or old tractors going up a hill.
@Pete Prisyazhnyuk there are only a few companies that don't cheat. Cars only make up a tiny fraction of global emissions anyway. As always, it was all about the Americans being able to sue someone.
For Americans: this is very common and the main point of interest of this video is the amount of futuristic cars in the video and there’s only one normal vehicle

Why do you want to shit in other people's clean places? And why are you OK telling everyone that is what you are about? How about if I did it in your house?
@@cageordie Have you ever been to Los Angeles? Beautiful city that looks like shit because of the idiots who run it. Same with the whole state. Every time I come into that area and see the smog floating over the city. Idiots like you who think banning plastic straws and bags are going to save everything. But fail to realize how a piece of equipment like this produces 90% water vapor.
@@cageordie Did you just say Los Angeles is clean? It's full of homeless people and drug addicts, much like the rest of the major cities on the west coast. Other than that, I wouldn't really recommend driving through a national forest like this.
@Pete Pester Generally a once registered vehicle is good to use forever on roads with the rules it had when it was registered. But I am sure they would find a way to ban this from tunnels...
@@PreservationEnthusiast what a Bullshit. They only run a few Times in a Year. It doesn't have any Affect. What counts are the Masses of Factories who are 24/7 at Work and pollute the air.
@@PreservationEnthusiast it may look like much but the amount of coal it is burning is nothing compared to the literal trainloads a powerplant burns each day also why cut holes it benefits nobody
@@PreservationEnthusiast Marius has a point, if you do your research you will find out that all of the cars currently circulating in the whole of earth combined are only a very tiny fraction part of the whole greenhouse effect pollutants. What really is causing AND accelerating global warming are the factories, big transportation methods, and resource mining. All of this eco friendly vehicle stories are just mainly bs dust throwm to the populations eyes. It will be 2100 before we realize the factories are more harmful than cars currently are.
"couldn't get it to pass emissions for the California smog, probs just needs new spark plugs. Otherwise in perfect running condition, no lo ballers I know what I have"
I actually deleted the entire EGR System and my Catalytic Converter on my 6.0 Powerstroke, and i have to go through Emissions Testing every 2 years, it actually has Cleaner numbers with that crap removed, not a huge difference but there is a difference. And forgot to add, Truck was also upgraded when everything was removed, KC Stage 2, Warren 175/30,s Studded, O-Ringed, Fuel System, Exhaust, And Intake, it's amazing even with the mild performance upgrades, How much better and cleaner it runs.
They find the little magic screw ya turn to screw up the fuel/air mixture, and they crank it the wrong way as hard as possible for that guuuuud quality smoke. He's gonna be looking into some rusted out old Kenworth stacks for it next week too.
While the visual effect is the huge amount of soot, soot particles generally have a reducing effect on global warming. But at the same time, it spews out quite a lot of CO2 too from the fossil coal. With an efficiency a lot lower than that of a diesel engine, it releases probably around 5-10 times more CO2 than a diesel engine with the same power. But the point is that it's not as bad as it looks, we can ignore the soot if we only talk about global warming and the CO2 is not visible.
I really don't underatand why so many people talk about things they don't know. Does it seem bad for the environment? Oh well you won't believe me: it is! Steam engines are unbelievably inefficient, but the real problem is that they burn coal. Burn Carbon and you get CO2 (and also CO, which isn't that healthy, but let's momentarily forget about this). There's too much CO2 in the atmosphere but producing more of it is not super bad, ok. But Coal is not pure Carbon, it only contains roughly 75% carbon. Then we find some Hydrogen (5%) which, when burnt, produces water, which is a more powerful greenhouse gas if compared to CO2 but, still, not the very problem. Then there's roughly 1% nitrogen and 1% Sulphur. These guys, they are the real problems. Their oxides are toxic, plus they react in the atmosphere, producing nitric and sulphuric acids, which lead to the formation of acid rain, interfere with the formation of ozone, which is like a poison to plants, and contribute to the formation of even more particulate matter. Add the fact that you can see a whole cloud of irritating smoke, containing a lot of unburnt carbon and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, that are carcinogenic. So yes, it's pretty bad. Modern engines are waaaay better for the environment, but still they increase pollution, so just imagine what would happen if we switched back to these ancient technologies
Would love to see Jay Leno on this thing in the streets of California..lol! "Cannel 4! Action news coming to you from San Bernardino...Jay Leno polluting the air here in California with his classic toy collection "
