I have had the camera for several years, bought it as an intro from SiOnyx for $500.00 very good low light in urban areas. Have a weapon mount for it as well...😊😊😊

My understanding is that because it's a camera, instead of monocular, it's got lag issues. Is it noticable, or enough to make it unsuitable for defensive/tacticool use?

I have one with the mount from Lions Gate? 🤦🏻‍♂️ i think it’s called it fits perfectly on the mount and the camera lines up perfectly with your eye and couldn’t adjust any better to see! It has the picatinny rail mount which also lines up to EOTECH EXPS 3-4!! This Night Vision camera is absolutely amazing!! Wouldn’t trade it for the world!!

Game Changing . It seemed affordable Night vision that actually works should have been around Long Long ago. As Tech in other areas has progressively rinses every year While it gets better and cheaper. PV-14 ARE STILL KINDA HIGH FOR THE AVERAGE GUY. I think there has been suppression in night vision tech going down and getting better. FLIR was bought and no longer sell to civilian market as an example

For really low ambient light, I find the green screen selection to provide better detail and sensitivity. It doesn't look as cool and give you the color but you'll see more. Hopefully they come out with some type of optical zoom or add on for these things.

Love my Aurora. MrG&G, you should make some IR light bars for the outer rails of your dock. You could make that slough like day. 850nm rolls are about $50 online. Adhere them to metal strips.

I don't have one, but I've been looking pretty hard at the Sionyx cameras. My understanding is they primarily use visible light, but it looks like they are somewhat sensitive to IR too. They work by having a super-sensitive image sensor chip. 0.9 megapixels versus the typical modern smartphone camera at 8.3 megapixels, but the Sionyx sensor is physically bigger at about twice the size. So the tech is very different from other night vision cameras.

When they start construction on that lot, you'll have to adjust your video making times or there will be nail guns and saws going in the background. Looks like Dodge truck that was stuck......they are the worst for traction.....especially the heavily front weighted diesels. Great equipment for budget minded folks. Been looking for a thermal scope lately. Might sell an ounce or two of gold and fund a decent one. Good stuff!!

@@holdthelinepodcast7738 I dont work there pal, so there's only limited advise I could give. However, I would recommend you make sure what sort of NVG mount you have first. Lion Gear Solution mounts need a mount that follows the Wilcox Dovetail pattern, better to shoot them an email if you have questions about their product.

Cool toy but after some research I dont think it holds up to mounting as a helmet option for duty use. $800?! I'm pretty sure these were only a few hundred a while back. Maybe a newer model?

Been seeing those used on Carpe Sus hog hunting channel off and on and been really interested in possibly buying one... just slightly out of my price range.

Carpe Sus uses thermals, not IR...MUCH more expensive, at least 3x. I'll be going to Sportsmans Guide and getting the Sightmark Wraith - $499 (with an extra SG member discount of around 10%) 4-32X50 IR and natural light. That I can afford over 4 payments.

@@rev-mikemckay9750 that's partially correct. He uses thermals AND IR. He's featured the SiOnyx Aurora on his channel multiple times in the past and gets even better images than Mike, here, out in the fields of Texas. Will be interesting to hear how the Wraith works out for you! Love to hear your review on it! SG has been where I first started picking up budget optics for my rifles and most were fantastic for the money.

How far is it? the focus seems to be soft and quality is not too high. Was the video been cropped or is it just the raw footage?

It only does 740p. the camera sacrifices image clarity for light gathering, or something like that. I just got the Pro version.

the SiOnyx Aurora is a NOVELTY and will not serve you in a true tactical application. The housing is crap and even though the unit is weapons mountable it is not able to withstand sustained fire. A PVS 14 is the bare minimum night vision if you truly want to be ready for the fight. Night vision is expensive and there are no cheap options. Anyone telling you that there is a cheap option for night vision has no idea what they’re talking about. PVS-7s suck aswell, regardless if you have a “gen 3” tube.
