It is such an honest review.... I love that.... Whenever a new hype comes every review is just exaggerating things not mentioning any negative points. It is my first video from you I will definitely watch more! Keep up with this way! Thx.

Thanks for the kind words! I’ve had a bit of a break from RU-vid over the last 6 months or so but hoping to get back to uploading again some time soon. Thanks again!

Hey Dom thanks for this, i was just looking at this guitar on thomann and thinking about getting a b stock one but not after seeing this. Hope the S3 or whatever you decide to get works out better for you

Thanks for the comment NOMIS. It’s hard to tell what you’re going to get when buying B-Stock and, depending where in the world you live, returning an item to Thomann can be a bit more hassle if it’s overseas, so you’re probably making the right choice not going with the B Stock model from Thomann. I’ve just finished putting together a review of the S3 which will be uploaded in a couple days - it is much better than the S7 in this video. Hoping to get my hands on another S7 at some point to give it another fair shot! Best of luck in your pursuit for a new guitar, whether it be Sire or otherwise!

Thanks so much for the kind words! Andertons were brilliant with the return. They collected this one and sent the replacement the same day! I got an S3 instead which is an awesome guitar, I’ve done a couple videos about it. Thanks again for the comment! Glad you liked the video!

Wow! Am I glad I found your vid. I was about to order one. I have had a few B stock guits that had an issue here & there. All fixable,,,, BUT!!!,,,,, nothing like this. I do have an H7 & I can say it is ok. Decent but nothing special. They must be using QC from Sterling guitars.

As a general rule... B stock is ALWAYS questionable. Especially on instruments or sound equipment that wouldn't unusually be returned... Same craic with Amazon Warehouse discounted stuff. I replaced mixer like for like with 2 from Amazon Warehouse returned product... both were severely faulty... I returned both then just bought the full price one... works flawlessly.

Having now purchased the Sire S3, that I’m extremely happy with, I do believe the fact that this S7 was B stock must be one of the reasons this guitar was not so good. However, I’m not sure that accounts for all of the issues the guitar had, such as gap in the neck pockets which I think must have been an issue from the factory.

I’ve just bought a B-stock Champagne Gold S7 from Andertons and I had to send it back to have the nut replaced. It was badly cut and had a chip in it. Also, the two cosmetic flaws that were noted on the website were just the tip of the iceberg. They hadn’t noted a chip on the headstock, scuff marks on the tip of the headstock, black mark on the top horn, scuff marks on the neck join, two small cracks on the neck join and a very scuffed pick guard. Because the nut was so bad the guitar wouldn’t hold tuning. So I demanded a replacement nut and money off for the extra cosmetic issues. They agreed to take a further £20 off the b stock price plus it was in a sale so had a further £50 taken off, so in the end I got the guitar for £430. It just came back to me yesterday and it plays like butter. And unless I pointed out the cosmetic issues you wouldn’t know it had any. B-stock is definitely a gamble. But I’m happy with it now.

Got all that in the first S7 that you got. High action, fret buzz, dead sound G string, electrics reversed as I am left handed so they installed right hand into left hand, volume and tone dials go the opposite way, a ping sound when I bend the B string and E. Go to a store and purchase, not to be bought online. Second S7 arrived the same problems apart from high action but the G string sounds dead and all the electronics reversed again Complete hell.

Don't be too off-put about trying one - like I say in the video, my two students' S7s are fantastic guitars. I feel like I just got unlucky with this one, whether it be a quality control issue, or just that something happened to this one between leaving the factory and arriving with me.. I've just uploaded a review of the Sire S3, which is a fantastic guitar and I'm very happy with, which again makes me think my S7 must have just been a bad one! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fMv4Jgy82Nc.html

B stock, is going to have cosmetic issues, that’s why the reduced price…and you might need to redo the action setup. I’m sure if you bought A stock you would not have these issues. And as b stock it still has a warranty. Send it back and get a replacement.

I just bought an S7 and it has none of the problems you describe. It is, simply put, perfect. The high action on yours, the dead bends and the chip'd truss rod cavity tells me that the previous owner had tried to adjust the neck (there is a common misconception that the neck should be completely straight), gone the wrong way and instead of getting a small relief they got a dead neck. Then they doubled down on the error by trying to shim the neck for higher action. B-stock are almost always returns.

For sure, the issues must have been due to the guitar being B-stock. Whether a previous owner had attempted a setup and done a bad job, or whether it was b-stock due to these issues from factory.. Like I mentioned, a couple of my students have S7s and they’re brilliant guitars!

didnt you just say it is a B stock guitar? and then you are claiming that you got a bad one. which is it a B stock or just a bad one?
@DomHawthorn
@DomHawthorn 10 месяцев назад
Both. The guitar was B Stock due to a little dink on the head. The other issues with the guitar should not be present regardless of whether it’s B Stock or not really.

@@DomHawthorn Every time I hear b stock I think of a defective guitar I would never get.
